Government Money We have a tendency to perhaps short change Elon a little for his brash statements. Yes, it seems to be way out there, but let's don't forget that he has been very successful getting government money to keep Space X flying. He probably knows something about the loan that we...

Tesla Increases Prices for Existing 2008 Orders

Survival Loans <None of these companies are going to be in business to sell these cars if they do not get their Section 136 Dept. of Energy Loans within a week or so.> I think dpeilow hit the nail square on. They need the money to survive. Auto sales are flat everywhere. Tesla appears to...

Tesla Increases Prices for Existing 2008 Orders

Let's Speculate Tesla is playing this close to the vest so we will just have to guess at what might be happening behind the scenes. They seem to be in a cost pinch. First, the forum reported months ago that Elon stated that the roadster costs were underestimated. Second, along with the...

    Martin vs Elon in Newsweek

Turning Point I plan to buy a roadster next year, but all this is just getting too negative. Guess we wait more toward the end of '09. Elon's cost cutting moves are good today. I still think the turning point, up or down we be clear by the end of next year. We just have to wait it out I...

German Supertuner RUF Building an Electric Porsche

Good Point..!! Your last mail about "It's the battery, stupid" really drives home the message. Before we invest in gearboxes, we need the battery performance. Top speed can wait. From what I read here, it seems most of us who are buyers, or future buyers won't be on the track looking to...

    Tesla Layoffs and Management Changes

Future For the time being I don't see that Tesla has problems. Elon is making good financial moves. They are producing cars and should be fine through the end of 2009. Somewhere out here is where the problems could get tough. We have to count on roadster sales holding up through next year...

    Rewriting History??

History Over time history will sort it all out properly. If Tesla goes on to become a highly successful company, then Martin will become the "Father of the Electric Automobile" If Tesla fails, it becomes a mere footnote and people won't care. For now, we all have to hope that Elon has the...

    chimpanzee's big project

chimpanzee Your comments are dazzling, creative, brilliant and often amusing. It's fun to read what you write. Keep up the great work. However, let's all admit it, TM has done superbly well without your help. They have developed a incredible street machine that is both high performance...

R&D Comments My wife and I own a small Pharmaceutical manufacturing company (Mom and Pop if you wish). I don't know a lot about cars. R&D has been our lifeblood. We recently obtained approval to produce a cancer drug and are designing a multitude of new products and technology to be produced...

    Cars, Candidates, Loans, and Bailouts

50B Loan <<<<<Finkenbusch... Its stunning that in a capitalistic society a honorable private company has the guts to ask hat in hand for a government bailout - not thinking of approaching a presidential candidate for getting it.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> It seems that the real question is: Should...

    Finkenbusch

This logic doesn't make sense. It says that Daimler had a bad experience in the US, therefore, they will never deal with the US again. Those folks have to be smarter than that..!!!

    Who's going topless ?

Here in Florida, I feel a hardtop is mandatory. It's mostly an issue of summer heat along with heavy rains. We'll be placing our roadster order next year.
