Texas refuses to renew registration of Tesla M3 without emissions test

I'm actually in Austin area too but had my inspection done by a gas station close to work. I don't remember having a problem. I was surprised it had to be inspected after only one year though. I thought a new car was good for 2 yrs without an inspection.

    Autopilot consistency and accuracy...

I use an ankle weight but frequently still keep my hands on the wheel, but my arthritis doesn't like "hands on" for too long

    Tesla moments

I have never towed anything with my M3 but until recently hadn't really pushed it up a steep incline. It's like driving on flat road and climbs a 30degree slope with no effort at all, unlike a ICE car that's downshifting and chugging up the hill!

Seniors wishing the glovebox had a physical button to open

This is my approach, push the right hand wheel on the steering wheel and tell it what you want to do. they added voice commands a while back and it's not perfect but it does pretty well. I too have a technical background for 36 yrs and now have trouble remembering where things are hidden...

Model S: Best Car ever for the Mountains!

I haven't been to the mountains but until recently I didn't realize how effortless it is driving my M3 up a 30 degree slope. No engine straining, no down shifting, drives just like it does on flat road and the point about driving down hill without using the breaks is great too. You just let...

2000 Mile Roadtrip from LA to Colorado. First long road trip (Pics)

Sounds like a great trip and a good way to learn about your Tesla. I had to make a road trip 60 days after receiving my Model 3 and didn't know about the energy app, just thought the miles of range were what you would get. We headed north out of Austin, Texas in freezing weather and a 20 mph...

Is Tesla service deteriorating as they scale??

I think the service is probably location specific although I haven't dealt with warranty type issues in the 18 months I had my model 3. I had service at my house twice and a third time was given a loaner for over a week when I had damage from hitting a small piece of 2X4 on the highway and had...

Auto Pilot followed truck rather than my lane

Coming home from work a couple days ago I was driving in the right lane with a pickup truck in the left lane who decided to suddenly take the exit to my right. The truck passed so close to me that I assume Autopilot couldn't see the lines for my lane any longer and just followed the truck over...

Ah yes. Tesla service at it again in the East.

My theory is they are using all the parts for new cars and don't keep any for service. I'm only 30 minutes from service and waiting for parts almost a week for a damaged pump and line for battery coolant. I have a loaner so it's not a HUGE deal, but I am driving an S and miss my Model 3. The...

Finding it hard to remain passionate about Tesla

Being an early adopter always comes with risk, but as a Model 3 owner for 18 months I thank you for keeping the boat afloat. My model 3 is the best purchase I ever made. I've had 3 service calls at my house with great results and when I had a problem while driving I pulled over and called...

Tesla Says Cybertruck Will Be Built at New Factory in Texas

He sure knows how to build a stock price!

Tesla just lost one customer, i know they dont care but i do !

It probably depends on where you live. I'm outside of Austin Texas and all 3 service appointments were completed in my driveway while I was drinking coffee inside. Granted they were nothing major, taillight fogged, tire rotation and damaged windshield wiper bottle from hitting a wooden block...

Our Model 3, 2 years later

Absolutely true, my wife doesn't understand it (and doesn't want to) and hates it but seldom drives it. I spent 36 years in the software business, although not an engineer, and I enjoy trying to sort things out.

Our Model 3, 2 years later

I'm sitting at 18 months on my model 3 and I agree with all the positives you state, but you missed a few things that I have experienced. I'm retired and have a lot of time on my hands, but I think up places to go so I can enjoy the car and the sound system, better than anything I have in the...

The End of my MY Story (at least for now)

Really feel sorry for your situation! Hopefully they'll get the quality problems worked out. I think Model 3 may have been similar when it came out, but I received mine on the last day of 2018 to get the Tax Credit and only had a tail light that fogged. I did find some minor paint defects...

Tesla increases Model S and X Supercharging rate to 225 kW

For me the V3 charger would remove an obstacle to taking trips. My wife refuses to travel any "real" distance where we have to stop and charge multiple times. I have a Model 3.

Poll: Is FSD Worth the Cost?

I have occasionally experienced phantom braking as well. What I strongly suggest in any situation where the car doesn't operate as expected, press the button on the right side of the steering wheel, say "bug report just had a phantom braking experience" (or whatever). I have done the for...

    2 year anniversary

one plus/minus for me after 15 months. . .built low to the ground so I love the way it handles, but at 70 it gets harder to get in and out. I agree with all the pluses listed, most amazing toy I've ever owned.

Sheltering in Place - Charge or not

I agree with this, it's my best sound system and I would drive it anywhere just to be driving!

    Tesla repair service is IMPROVING

I live outside of Austin Texas and fortunately have only had 2 service situations in 15 months. One was to replace a taillight that had condensation in it at the time I bought it (I didn't notice it) and the 2nd time to rotate the tires. Both times service was scheduled on my phone and there...

Poll: Is FSD Worth the Cost?

I'm pretty much with you, I like AP and use it all the time, I don't like NOA for the same reasons you state and Summon is mostly a parlor game. I used it at the club with all the golf group watching and it backed out beautifully and started forward, then a golf cart navigated around it to the...

Zero issues with opening the door with iPhone bluetooth connection

Mine was perfect until about the same time, maybe a month or 2 earlier, then it became intermittent. I didn't used to have my Tesla app open on my phone then sometimes I did so it required me to pull out my phone and open the app. Not a huge deal but it was so perfect before. Failure rate...

Blind Spot Assist - Never noticed this

Interesting, mine doesn't do that. Mine shows the lane I'm moving to and it's red until it's safe to move then it turns blue and moves immediately.

    Best service experience EVER!

I've had 2 service calls in 1 yr, taillight repair for condensation and tire rotation, both performed in my driveway, typically with me drinking a beer. Never had that with any other car.

    Submitting a bug report

I later made bug report about my A/C not cooling enough in our 95 degree temperature although it had before. I thought you could only set it down to 68 and put that in my comment. Maybe conincidence, but an hour later I stopped at my son's house to watch a soccer game and when I came out...

Rear ended another vehicle, not blaming Tesla but wondering why AEB did not activate?

This is how it appears to me as well, but the question is why. The car clearly has the ability to see obstacles and stop you in AP so why not all the time. In what situation would you ever want to have a collision with an obstacle.
  28. D

SR lowest depreciation (highest relative trade in)?

I wouldn't dismiss AP just because it's fun to drive (I love to drive it too), but the 30 miles home from work in rain and high traffic is much more relaxing when I "barely" have to pay attention. I find situations where I don't even know where I am on the road home because I'm so relaxed.

Living with 120V - 8000 miles and counting

I installed the 240 volt outlet and get 30 mph charging. Also mounted a hose rack on the wall and coil the cord and hang it there, keeps it off the floor.

    10,000 miles in a Model 3 (nearly) - Review

Two comments: first, do you use the energy mapping program. I didn't know about it for my first trip at 20 degrees F and 20 MPH wind and arrived at one charger with 5 miles left. That was a little tense. The program estimates energy usage based on your last few miles and you select 5, 15...

Alarm went off when in car!

You can enter a bug report by pushiing the microphone icon on the screen then say "Bug Report" and describe the situation. When you finish it will thank you for the feedback. Very convenient for problems while driving.

    Tesla autopilot HW3

I have driven successfully in fairly heavy rain using autopilot, but I did have a problem with snow and salt blocking the sensors.
  34. D

    The SR+ is fast!

It does turn off if you are on AP.
  35. D

What's the most surprising thing you've found once you got your Tesla?

I second this. I didn't really test drive one before I got mine, I bought it for the technology but the performance is like magic. . .then there was the 30 something woman standing and looking at it in the Home Depot parking lot, hands folded at her chest who said "is this your car? I love...

Another Tesla driver asleep at the wheel!

Key points. . .with AP you have a chance, without it and going to sleep not so much!

Autopilot Called Out in NTSB Report on Tesla Crash into Fire Truck

If you keep up with reports you read that there have been multiple situations where AP doesn't recognize a stationary vehicle. They seem to see them moving but not always when stopped. I had this happen to me when I thought it would stop at a stop light because a car was stopped there, it...

    Today was our T-DAY

I had to fill up my wife's car the other day and had to stop and think about how to do it. . .not automatic anymore
  39. D

    Today was our T-DAY

I've had mine for 6 months and I still feel exactly like you do. The best was one day I walk out of Home Depot and there's a 30 something girl standing by it with hands in "prayer position" and says "is this your car, I absolutely love it" I told her that driving it was much better than the looks!

Navigate on Autopilot is not for me

I agree. Although I haven't tried it a lot I see no real advantage other than it knowing you're going to exit a highway. You still have to make all the decisions once the suggestions are made and I seem to have to worry more about what it might do. However, I think your merging sitiuation is...

Tesla Releases Q2 Safety Report, Adds Vehicle Fire Stats

My guess is that autopilot shows fewer accidents because it is used in safer situations like straight away divided highway driving, that's true in my case anyway.
  43. D

Reckless driver, Model 3 prevents accident…

I wonder if rather than it being the lane protection it's more like when you're making a lane change and your car spots a car pulling into your space and it jerks you back to avoid the collision.
  44. D

Near freeway divider collision - on autopilot

I have had similar situations on curves and of course if you move the car you never know what would have happened. In my opinion especially curves that aren't smooth, the car goes straight and then jerks over. I had an 70 mph overpass where my model 3 would always take the curve with 2 wheels...

Poll on Model 3 Air Vents

This sounds crazy and I almost don't believe it myself, but last week my "Auto" wasn't working so I overrode it. Later it still didn't work so I rebooted the screen and it started to work, but it didn't seem cold enough, I live in Texas and it was 94 degrees outside but it had always handled it...

    Submitting a bug report

I reported an overpass were the Model 3 would always go over the line on the tight curve. A few days later it was much better, slowed more and kept inside the line.
