    Range extender connector contemplations

I’m wondering why they didn’t build an extender that could fit in that hidden cargo area under the bed. It may not have given as much range but you’d get to keep the flush back bed.

    Supercharger - Harlingen, TX

It is a good location, I thought it was going to be around the Bass Pro Shops but it‘s only about 2 miles from there. I’m a little surprised they killed the planned Falfurrias supercharger - going from Three Rivers to McAllen on 281 is a long distance, once I was doing that route in bad weather...

Blog Musk Says Cybertruck Will Have Removable Mirrors

Doubt it, I think they’re merely intended as a token gesture that Tesla has to do to make the cars legal to sell, anticipating that 99+% of people will want the superior camera-based substitute instead.

    Tesla Trailer

That thing is huge, I am guessing it is going to be expensive since it will probably need its own battery pack

    NoA/Lane change/Off ramps - none are working

Not meaning to be silly, but do your turn on the “Navigate on Autopilot” button when prompted at the start of your trip and does it turn blue? Do you get the single blue stripe down the middle of the road or does it stay as two blue lines on either side?

    Expanding FSD Beta.

How hard would it be to incorporate FSD code into today’s generic autopilot? From the videos I’ve seen FSD seems vastly more competent at avoiding objects in the road, going into the correct lanes, etc. Seems like it would make normal autopilot/NOA safer. Today’s NOA can’t even take an on-ramp...

    Hands Free Driving Glitch

It’s been working on and off for me, when I’m on the freeway it usually works, asking me when to take over if it sees something that’s not right. When I’m on more rural roads it’s hit or miss. It seems to have nothing to do with the interior camera, today I tried covering the camera and the car...

V11 is going to be HUGE!

Yes FSD will probably default to an even larger part of the screen being taken up. I was thinking of something more like this: The stationary car icon on Tesla’s new operating system reminds me a lot of what they typically look like in 360/surround view mode from other companies. Elon...

V11 is going to be HUGE!

My guess (and it’s just that) is all that space for the car on the left side of the screen was intended to be used for a 360 overhead view when parking or backing out but Tesla ran into some issues getting it to work acceptably well. I’m all for being able to customize the UI for the screen, it...

Welcome Hex. Yeah it is a tight parking lot; the NE corner near the car wash is the first place I look for signs of activity, but that’s a total guess.

    Autopilot nag bug

Does it come up when you're driving into the sun? When traffic light detection is reduced due to direct sun it will flash red and gives an alert, maybe it does that regardless of whether you have FSD?

Jay Leno’s Garage features the Cybertruck

Wouldn't glean too much from that, it looks like the "in car" part of the interview was done using a green screen.

    Houston Area - Electricity Plan

Power to Choose is great if you know what you're doing, sometimes it can be hard to spot you the "gotcha" parts of a plan and know how to apply them to your estimated bill, that's where Energy Choice comes in. If you know exactly what to look for then Power to Choose is fine but be ready to do...

Future of FSD after "traffic light & stop sign response" release

Yes I know it's not trivial, the AP could easily take an onramp if it wanted, it's just that it has a nervous breakdown when it gets to the freeway and has to deal with even the slightest of ambiguous lane markings or any other traffic merging and exiting.

1,200 Mile Road Trip to Houston, TX - Am I Crazy?

Speed traps?! The speed limit is 80 out there, someone who gets a ticket is probably approaching triple digit speeds (and I've seen them doing it)

1st Electricity Bill since purchasing the tesla.

I use about 2000 kWh/month, higher in the middle of summer or abnormally cool winter months (for South Texas) and lower in other months. But I have electric everything - two cars, house heat, water heater, oven, dryer, water well, lots of AC in summer, etc. The cars probably average about 20-24...

1,200 Mile Road Trip to Houston, TX - Am I Crazy?

You should be fine unless the weather is insanely bad, I've done that route and then some twice, once in an SR+. The Van Horn to El Paso leg is probably the longest stretch between superchargers (~130 miles) so don't skimp in Van Horn or El Paso, depending on which way you're headed. When I did...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

A normal AWD has more pedal sensitivity, I used to have an SR+ and that was one of the first things I noticed moving up to the AWD,

    Doubting Price is real!

Have they given any hints of offering a Premium interior package that would include things like upgraded seats and stereo, lights, etc? Could they pull a surprise and offer a 300 mile range RWD at a price point between the AWD and Base (didn't they do something like that on the Model 3?). I...

    Annual Vehicle Inspection in Texas

Agree with Fox, they only do emissions tests in the big cities. They're generally checking the horn, lights, wipers, mirrors, etc. Don't know how on earth the Cybertruck will pass o_O

    RGV (south texas) Teslas

Actually Edinburg should be easier for charging a Tesla than San Antonio unless you plan on living in NW San Antonio. In Edinburg the SC in McAllen is just a short drive and there are free destination chargers over at Pieology and at a couple of businesses in McAllen. The longest trip in the...

    Should EVs have efficiency standards?

    Should EVs have efficiency standards?

There's something wrong about this, probably that Elon's claim of 15 mi/day is too optimistic, but it would be fantastic if the CT uses about the same amount of power as the Model S. I was thinking it's going to use a bit more power than the X and the battery would be around 100 kWh for the...

    Chances of a 5-seat option?

I agree it is big and would like to see a mid or even small sized one, but there's no denying you'll be able to carry a lot of stuff in it. I wonder if the back seats can be taken out to provide a kind of cargo area. Three people is the most I'd need to fit in a truck.

Supercharger - South Padre Island, TX

This looks awesome, how much do these things cost Tesla to set up? Tesla could use a bunch of these for vacation spots like Ruidoso, or routes that require long stops because there's noting above Level 2 on the way. Glad to see them adding these to their arsenal.

Solar power math for a custom camper shell on the tri-motor.

It'd be hard to get more than the 15 mi/day max than the cover has, it will be most likely have a flatter top which won't collect light as efficiently. But it should have a greater area. I wonder if you there would be a feature that if you parked the truck in an empty paved lot it could be smart...

DC Charging from Cybertruck to Model 3

Well there is a plug in the back of the truck, you could plug a charging cable into that. Don't know if it will have a proper ground though, most generators don't.

    Mirrors?

I know physical side mirrors are still required in the US, what about rearview mirrors? The truck's rearview mirror/screen might work if the bed cover has been retracted, but what about when it's closed? Does federal law require a physical mirror to be usable in every scenario? Auto makers have...

    Jack Rickard's take

I've watched the video a couple of times and recommend everyone interested in the truck do so, regardless of politics. He lays out a lot of reasons why this truck makes sense, if you want the bottom like takeaway skip to 1:10:53 and listen to the 40 or so seconds that follow.
  46. R

Forget the truck (please), can we talk about that trainwreck of a reveal?

I've heard it actually IS 110 and 220 volts, not a misprint, someone gave a technical reason why they did this and can't remember where I heard it but long story short, most anything you normally plug into a 120 or 240 volt socket will work on 110 and 220 volts. What they didn't tell us is how...

Tesla Cybertruck Orders Hit 146K in Two Days

I don't need a motor up front, my days of going into the mountains of NE Mexico are long over and even then you only needed AWD if the roads got slick, clearance was way more important. Now I mostly need a truck to haul dirt, rocks, plants and rarely machinery, all on paved roads. The base model...
