Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Still without a car a month later. Wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this recently and if so how long was the wait? I'm now past the 30 day rental window for my insurance as well

Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Just an update. Estimated $16,000 to replace the battery and nearly a month out now without any idea of when I'll get the car back. Still on wait-list for battery

Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Agreed it's a low rate of occurrence. This is what Elon posted after the changes though to the Model S undercarriage including testing with a tow hitch. If $500 gives me peace of mind so be it; if it prevents another episode like this even better...

Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Some might call the highways of Houston just that. Looking into it I found out one of the three original model s fires was this exact situation with a loose tow hitch and after that they redisigned the under carriage for better protection on the s. Don't think the skid protectors should add...

Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Appreciate that. Yeah I think the damage happened at the very front of the battery pack which is covered by the cardboard like skid protector. Rpm ended up having a sale and discount for combo front and back aluminum skid plates. Ended up buying them for both cars (I'll put it on the 3...

Battery Damaged After Hitting Tow Hitch

Well unfortunately my model 3 is out of commission. Was on the highway when I encountered a lose tow hitch that I was unable to avoid. Ran over it and shortly thereafter had a low power warning. Pulled over and there was coolant leaking from the under carriage. Had it towed to Tesla and they...

    Has Anyone Tried Bead Maker?

Really helpful thread. I've been using reload over cquartz and ppf. Used bead maker on one of my other cars and very happy with results. Debating switching over with my model 3.

Finally put ceramic on the car. Some lessons learned.

While it was developed with colder weather climates in mind (like the UK), I thought it essentially just had a broader range of applicable temperatures when compared to the original product? Not necessarily that UK is only meant for colder weather environments.

What product did you use? What ended up going wrong?

Finally put ceramic on the car. Some lessons learned.

Thanks so much for the tips! Haven't seen a great how to on what to do with ceramic after PPF. From my searches it seems like some people say only stick with PPF specific ceramic, others say CQUARTZ uk works just fine. Is carpro eraser a good idea on the ppf prior to ceramic application?

Finally put ceramic on the car. Some lessons learned.

Did you treat the PPF any differently or did you use orbital polisher on it? Also, did you claybar ppf?

LR AWD with AP or SR+ with FSD

Thanks for all the feedback. In the same boat debating between SR+ w/ FSD vs. LR RWD w/ AP. Really want to keep things around 50 and preferably not over. Consensus seems to be LR RWD. There is currently a LR RWD with blue ext/white int in inventory that is very tempting
