    MG Cyberster concept EV roadster

It’s a convertible, it’s never going to be as efficient as you will get with a hard top. But 400 mile city range is not too shabby. I’ve done 120+ in a convertible, it’s top speed is plenty. Lots of things to like - including many features not on a Tesla. But it’s a completely different type...

    Replacement Wing Mirror Glass

You can just ask for the cost of the parts in the app as well as cost of fitting. You can find exact part numbers in the online electronic parts catalog (epc.tesla.com) for your car. Otherwise something like mirror glass they would hopefully just go on your description. Sounds like you have...

    Battery life...

It was a Model 3 but was missing a few bits. Based on purchase price and what Tesla delivered, ours could be thought of as a Model 2.7 because its missing 10% of the functionality, by cost, that we paid for.

London company to fix window scratches?

I had a big long scratch on inside of windscreen from factory. Tesla first suggested that I try and polish it out, before they tried and ultimately replaced the windscreen. It was a very deep scratch in places, and polishing made no difference to those, but I recon it did a bit in the less deep...

    Home charging

We had to use public charging for first few months - trust me, the novelty of making a special trip to charge the car soon wears off. We have been using 10A home charging since, in addition to a typical weekly free 30-40% topup regular visit that typically uses 15-20% for the round trip to get...

    One key card stopped working

Several people have made RFID rings by dissolving the key card and forming the internal chip and antenna into working ring. That’s far more severe than a surface scuff. Typical Tesla BS excuse. Thankfully they are cheap and trivial to self program but that’s not the point.

    UK Pricing piss take

Our previous car was bought via a broker and was effectively a Dutch order of a RHD car but first registered in UK and collected/paid for from a large UK dealership. Nothing at all to know that it was not a UK order other than the pre order paperwork/build schedule. Can’t remember what we...

About to leave warranty - any recommendations? Should I get a service?

Is that right? I thought it was 3 months, hence I haven’t been back for them to re-do what they supposedly fixed* under warranty in September. * I don’t actually think they fixed the original cause of the fault (seems to be a common cable issue caused during build of a part that was never...

    Tesla Tow ball adapter

I think this is what you are looking for What's people's experience with the M3, towbar bike carriers and bikes?

    Tow bars

You can actually get tow bars that will only fit certain bike racks. I don’t know how common these are but it will limit bike rack that can be fitted. I know our bike rack is not compatible but a slightly different version is (and with standard tow balls). I think the bike rack only tow balls...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Sounds like it’s limited at 16A. If you have DNO permission to output more than 16A, then hopefully it’s a setting in the inverter. Worth checking the fuse size for the inverter circuit. If it’s 16 or 20A, then likely the 16A limit is for a reason, ie that’s the limit of the circuit.

New owner here. Got a question…

Just be aware that pre conditioning when plugged in is not cheap as it’s likely to be peak rate electricity and potentially higher carbon than an off peak charge, especially something like an Octopus IO charge that may have been optimised for carbon. Tbh, we dont bother pre conditioning unless...

    [UK] Spring Software Update

So where does it get its tiles when you are in an underground car park with no connectivity? Its a rhetorical question. It use to allow significant panning of the map, but I don’t think it’s as far reaching as it was. Ie map data is probably cached but not so much now.
  18. MrBadger

    [UK] Spring Software Update

It use to be silky smooth, so clearly not a CPU constraint. Just a hunch, but I suspect things have got a bit more bloated so it’s got less memory to play with so cannot cache as much. It was once very rare to see it waiting to load a map tile.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Historically, Tesla have a track record of releasing on latest hardware first then implementing on legacy hardware later if capable (or they have the will or desire). Just because it’s not being released on MCU2 now does not mean it’s not capable to be. It just means that it’s been implemented...

Don’t be hung up about south facing. That may best for peak power, but east/west may potentially give peak energy. And this time of year, even north facing becomes an option.

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

Any numbers for ‘thefts from’? There was quite a spate of cases in US where rear quarter light panel was being broken and contents of boot accessed. It looked to be trivial to do from some of the videos at the time. Sparked some third party devices to lock the rear seats in place. Not sure if...

    [UK] Spring Software Update

It wouldn’t surprise me if Tesla release new features to current hardware now, but filter down many to older hardware later. Its happened in the past, including several HW3 features that apparently were too complex for HW2.x, but over time we’re implemented. I think similar also happened when...

    How Secure Are Teslas/Tesla Thefts

When we got our model 3 in 2019, with mass collections and regular pickup day ‘training presentation’ groups, pretty much the first thing Tesla said to each group was to turn on pin to drive. I suspect P2D use is very widespread, especially for those who had a basic handover.

DNO electrician installed wrong main fuse

Electrical certificates are not retrospective. If they were correct at time of issue then they remain valid. If however you had further work undertaken, then the new certificates would then be based on the new fuse size. Likewise any new diversity calculations would be based on new fuse size...

DNO electrician installed wrong main fuse

It sounds like from an earlier post that the diversity calculation has changed to accommodate the lower fuse, ie the previous calculation gives a higher load. Its the diversity calculation result that effectively governs what you can draw not the physical size of the fuse. So if the previous...

DNO electrician installed wrong main fuse

Off top of my head, when you have electricity work carried out, part of the electrician’s paperwork has space for earthing and fuse size. May be worth checking paperwork from when you had charge point/EVSE and batteries installed, especially since charge point install is likely to have...

    UK FSD Discussion

But you don’t have to override everything, just lane changes and turns. I can travel hundreds of miles without needing to perform a lane change or turn so having to confirm by indicating really is no hardship. But we don’t get that ability because some are striving for 100% FSD functionally...
