Am I missing something or was it incredibly risky/irresponsible/stupid to drive the car at all after four signs of electronic problems in a highly automated car? And then kind of insane to drive it back home after those four signs plus a brake failure? I don't get it.

Great videos. I am NOT a Google fan but Chris Urmson is smart, honest, and funny, and their technology is infinitely far ahead of Tesla. You cannot put it in years because with current Tesla sensors, stubbornness, and dishonesty, they will simply never get there.

I will go there and say, yes, as long as Elon refuses HD mapping and LIDAR, current sensors and computers that can fit in a car with reasonable power consumption will never get to Level 4-5. I don't see it even getting fully to Level 3 but I will say never to 4 or 5.

How, on earth, can you say that? Waymo actually self-drives. Tesla is nowhere close to self-driving. Tesla is at Level 2 TACC plus second-rate navigation.

These are not wildly optimistic claims, they are lies. These cars with current sensor hardware and available computing power will never get past Level 2 Autonomy. They would need LIDAR and constantly updating 3D HD maps to get to "full self driving."

Good for them! "Full self driving" has always been a lie. These cars will never achieve level 3-5 with current sensors and computing. They are level 2 which is far from what any reasonable, intelligent person would consider "full self driving," and even have accidents at level 2.

That lane change at 1:12 is unsafe for sure, and a jerky move that would piss off any driver. As for the masks, that one's on them. So maybe call it a draw?!?

Personally I would not fight it, as you will most likely lose. I have believed since day one of NoAP that the lane changes are sometimes dangerously abrupt, feeling jerky/reckless, without enough blinker warning to be safe or legal, and it's just rude. And this is from an M-car driver. NoAP...
