Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

Explaining Changes post-firmware 2019.16 Regarding Range Loss | wk057's SkieNET Edit: <removed snippets> Short version: The BMS calculates an approximate voltage value using other sensor readings. The algorithm accounts for a (small) margin of error which means a small cap might remain in place...

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

For me, the only two things I've noticed that didn't carry over was radio favorites and Homelink. For Homelink the saved entries was present but didn't work. After trying to reprogram I eventually had to reboot the MCU to get Homelink going. Audio sounded horrible with my old settings so tweaked...

Anyone do radio restore after MCU2 upgrade yet?

I had the upgrade done today, a snippet from my service invoice follows: "Retrofit for the FM tuner: Replaced radio tuner and both antennas on the liftgate. Tested that radio works as designed." The radio retrofit includes new antennas.

    Model S gets $3K price drop then a $2570 drop to $69420!

Not all car segments have been well covered until very recently, Model Y, which is not available here yet, will fix one of the remaining holes (family sized, long range, large trunk with large opening, tow hitch with decent weight limits, and a decent price). So far in 2020 around 60% of the new...

Do you regret AP3 upgrade with MCU1?

Sure dashcam makes MCU1 slower, but thats always been the case for AP 2,5 owners. Otherwise the MCU(1) behaves exactly as before. I had the upgrade done in April, so I would have had plenty time to notice any differences.

Wiki Sudden Loss Of Range With 2019.16.x Software

My car (S75D) has consistently produced higher km-number in the summer, than in the winter. Winter (sub ~0C) reduces the number by around 1%, which is later (mostly) reclaimed in the spring/early summer. I have observed this effect through 3 winters, so temperature definitely affects how the BMS...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I got HW3 installed on my MCU1-car early in May. Short version of my experience with this combo is that both AP and MCU1 operates exactly as it did with HW2.5. I haven't noticed any new features, visualizations, etc, and no additional stuttering, lag or instability on the MCU.

It was speculated that 75-packs which included a B on the sticker contained fewer cells.

    New 85kWH battery for my 2013 P85+

Why? The BTX8 is affected by charge gate and tapers quickly as well. Better to hope for the new 85kwh/350v with updated chemistry.

What happened to my battery preheat?!!

Battery preheat is broken in 2019.36.x and newer. I'm still on .32 because of that. Normally range mode disables battery preheat, removes permanent awd when temps are below +1 deg celsius, and reduces cabin heater element from 6kw to 4kw. When charging the battery is always preheated. I guess...

    2014 Model S 60 Battery Question

No, your car has a real 60 battery. Only later 60s are software locked 75s, as the 75-battery didn't even exist until 2016. I wouldn't exactly recommend daily charging to 100%.

HW3 upgrade or MCU1 death. Which will happen first?

Its not likely that Tesla will be able to stall that long, as I have nearly 3 years of warranty left on my 08/2017 (delivered 10/2017) Model S w/MCU1+AP2,5.

If your battery has the issue, the chargerate/range is capped, thereby "resolving" the issue. If your battery have the issue and you refuse to update, your battery constitutes a safety hazard. Therefore you should update. Atleast thats how I understood wk057.

US Tesla Wall Connector + 3P3W 240V Delta power - FAIL

Isnt it possible to just wire L1-L1 and L2-N on the wall connector, like in the attached diagram (from the US manual). If ground is missing, just burrow a grounding spear. Thats how its done in Norway for Isolated Terra (IT) nets.
