Broken Trim in new Tesla, major enough to return the car?

If you took delivery, you cannot now reject the car because of this. The best you can do is get it fixed under warranty.

Windshield replacement is getting out of hand - cracks...

So it would take over 8 years for it to be worth it over paying for glass replacement on my insurance.

Windshield replacement is getting out of hand - cracks...

Nice idea but it would take a long time to make it worth it based on the few $$ per month I spend on glass replacement on my insurance policy. I think it's about $3 more per month. I guarantee you're not getting that shield installed for less than about $400 in SoCal.

TeslaCam recording press did not record in an accident

They seemed to have F'd up the dashcam system in the last 12-18 months. It was wonky when they first released it a few years ago but slowly got better. Then they changed how it worked and now it's wonky again. And with Tesla cutting jobs, I'm not expecting it to be fixed anytime soon.

Cheaper doesn't equal better sometimes. There are numerous articles about how Tesla insurance has left people out in the cold regarding claims.

    Accelerating when braking?

You are not reading this forum, just like parsec. This forum is FILLED with people complaining about various issues, including me. I have stated many times that the money I paid for FSD would have been better served if I had burned it in front of starving orphans. Make a thread asking what...

    Well, that’s lovely…

Same situation. I had bought tires from them for my old M3. My MY got a screw just like OP and I took it in and expected to be charged but I think because I was already on file it was free. They also do free tire rotations if you're in the system. Only problem is they're very busy so your best...

Tiny paint scratch on my new model Y- can Tesla help with repair?

I did the same thing the day after driving my MY home!! I had to back out partially to adjust the little tennis ball hanging from the garage roof that lets me know when I'm in the right parking position. For some stupid reason I can't ever remember, I opened the trunk and watched in horror as it...

    Accelerating when braking?

Nobody is saying cars don't fail. However, if you've truly worked in the industry, then you know for a fact that the VAST majority of unintended accelerations are driver error. You would also know that it's highly unlikely that a component failure that could allow unintended acceleration would...

    Accelerating when braking?

There's a whole lot we don't know that could have had an impact on how much the system did or didn't work. She was in a parking lot. The distance to the car she hit was probably close. The system may not have had time to determine a collision in that environment. The automatic braking system...

Wheel hub cap replacements for 2024 OEM Y 19 inch wheels

Had Rimetrix before on my M3. I think they're a bit too pricey and a pain in the a$$ to get off. Went with Lasfit for my MY. They work great and look good.

Anyone have the full-width tail light for Tesla Y? Question about rear camera

First impression of FSD and how TSLA should promote it

Did you engage it on city streets? If so, then you must have ice water in your veins. It's scary as hell trying generally and specifically when trying to navigate turn lanes, especially dual turn lanes. My biggest purchase regret in YEARS.
  19. J

Why can't you order a new Model Y?

They want to reduce their inventory. Therefore, they're gonna push people to buy up what's already built and sitting in a lot, as opposed to leaving that car in a lot and building a new one right off the line just for you.

    Tire pressure issue

My tires all fluctuate about 1-2 psi being in the same garage from day to day.
  21. J

    Tire pressure issue

2 psi is almost nothing. The error in the system is probably 2 psi or so. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to get all the tires to the EXACT same pressure.

Automatic settings on windshield wipe when on auto pilot (problem worse)

I think people are implying that the turn off feature is broken or it keeps coming back on by itself. I'm just got an update a few days ago and it seems to work fine for me.
  23. J

Enhanced autopilot worth $6k seems to be useless as summon feature is blocked off

I can't use it with other people in the car on city streets. It will scare the crap out of them. And you have to watch it so carefully it completely defeats the purpose. Worst money I ever spent.

I had no idea the efficient fell off a cliff when it's raining!

70% decrease in efficiency sounds high, but yes, rain can have a dramatic effect. Yes, rain can affect ICE cars but I don't think it's nearly the same. I had kind of the same thing happen to me going from San Diego to LA and back. It started raining on the way back. It took 40% to go from home...

    Windshield replacement

My understanding is that the whole recalibrating thing is a non-issue now. The car does it automatically. But Safelite is still charging big $$ for calibration that is sent to your insurance. That's why they're more expensive. Tesla does not charge for calibration any more, but will not file...

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

You can certainly try the buy back route. The worst they can do is say no, in which case you hit them with a lemon law case, which it sounds like you'd be eligible for. I'd make sure when you broach the subject of a buy back that you mention lemon law.
  29. J

Strongly considering a lease vs buy (MYP). Pros/Cons?

Ain't no way we're gonna meet the deadline of 2035. There's no way the infrastructure to support all those EVs will be in place, especially for apartment and condo dwellers.

2022 MYP GPS stuck, no cameras, cannot sleep

I think you're gonna have a hard time getting them to do a buy back as I don't believe those problems are related to the computer. I've had the same door issues over 2 cars and 5 yrs. It's a known bug. You MIGHT be able to lemon law it but you'd have to check with your state.

Enjoyed Model Y 3 years now, going to be out of warranty soon, and issues are starting to happen left and right. How is everyone else's experience?

The list of EXPENSIVE things that would be covered is more relevant than wear and tear items. The inverter, motors (I read the list of exclusions and the battery is specifically excluded, while the motor is not), MCU, screen, HVAC and other covered parts all carry huge repair/replacement costs...

Enjoyed Model Y 3 years now, going to be out of warranty soon, and issues are starting to happen left and right. How is everyone else's experience?

Normally I would agree with you, but for a car with this much history of defects, I would either spring for the extended warranty or sell the car soon. If things keep going bad at the rate their going, it's not gonna be pretty when the warranty expires. Of course, there's no guarantee that the...

Replacing Llumar CTX tint with Llumar Stratos worth it?

If it's heat rejection you're looking for, XPEL Prime XR Plus is hands down the best I've found. Haven't put on my MY yet cause I bought mine last fall so I wanna see how the native dyed glass that came with it works. XPEL Prime XR Plus has any where from 94%-98% IR rejection depending on which...

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

I believe their base plastic is black. The Orbital silver comes from a coating. If you scratch it, the black plastic shows thru.

Creaking noise after installing new springs on my Model Y

Recently got my MY aligned at a place that is an authorized MPP installer. I asked him about after market suspensions and he said one thing to consider is that no matter what you get or what car you put them on, they will make more noise than OEM suspensions.
  37. J

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

You would think that adding color to the plastic before fabrication wouldn't be too hard, but many of the aftermarket covers are black. A quick search shows that ABS can come in other colors, but maybe Rimetrix couldn't get the color right trying to get the entire piece to look silver and had to...
  38. J

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

I agree that the silver looks good, but the problem with it is that it's a layer over black plastic. So when you inevitably curb rash the silver Rimetrix covers, the black will show thru where the silver has been scratched off. It's VERY apparent. I had to replace one that my wife really dinged...

    Tire Noise

Ok, I'm no expert and I'm totally guessing here, but, um, carbon? ;)
  40. J

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

OK concept but A) I hate being 'recommended' stuff that people have a financial interest in recommending and I don't want to do that to other people and B) there's no guarantee that anybody would take my referral so I'm not gonna count on getting any money back because of it.

19" Gemini wheel covers - A recommendation to end all others?

I will admit the Medusas look good, but not $300+ good.

    Tire Noise

FYI, doesn't seem like they make the P Zero AS Plus 3 in Model Y sizes. Did a search for each trim and no luck.
  43. J

Enhanced autopilot worth $6k seems to be useless as summon feature is blocked off

Nothing is coming 'soon'. FSD is a complete waste of money if you try to hold it to its title of 'FULL Self Driving'. They're 5 yrs out from having something that is even close what the name implies.
  44. J

    Tire Noise

Run flats are awful for noise. Smaller wheels = more tire sidewall = smoother and probably slightly quieter ride. Nobody is gonna be able to tell you exactly how much noise will be saved by going from 21" to 20" or whatever. It's a progression but you're gonna have to decide how badly you wanna...

    Retrieve logs in an accident

This is actually the correct response. Might be a good idea to get the data and just keep until a situation comes where you really need to share it. At this point, based on what OP has told us, he's not there yet.

Windshield wiper controls are the worst about a Tesla

Push the button on the stalk, and the use the left scroll wheel (going left or right) to change the speed without taking your eyes off the road. I think some people use voice commands to change wiper speed, but I just can't get used to doing that. I think voice command is one of those things...

Automatic settings on windshield wipe when on auto pilot (problem worse)

It happened sometime in January. I didn't realize it had happened, either, but someone here mentioned it and I checked it out and it was true. I'm on 2023.44.30.8
  49. J

Automatic settings on windshield wipe when on auto pilot (problem worse)

Babyduke, the change was to simply allow you to turn the auto wipers off when autopilot is engaged. That's it. They still default to on when you engage autopilot. You will need to turn them off each time you engage autopilot if they don't work right.
