Model 3 Zooms Through Boring Tunnel at 116 MPH

Surprised to see any kind of manual option. I wouldn't want to be in control of a vehicle zipping through a tunnel at over 100mph. I thought the cars were supposed to ride automated sleds or has tesla abandoned that plan?

Flipping navigation and music location on new update

It's still possible to have 2 apps plus the map on screen simultaneously. You just have to use the vertical slider to make room for both apps. Once there is enough vertical space, the second app will appear. I currently have the camera (top) and media (bottom) apps open over the map in the...

Is it possible to ask a service center to downgrade version 9 to version 8?

Wasn't it Elon who said if your UI requires a user manual to operate, you've failed at design? Well, I needed the user manual yesterday.

    Self Schedule Service Online

Got a message about this feature in the App's message center dated November 1st, 2018 and I'm also able to book an appointment in Calgary, AB via my account page. My question is; if I book an appointment, what am I actually booking? The annual service? There doesn't appear to be any way to add...

Blog Musk Says Tesla Will Expand Service Center Coverage

Preach, brother. And they're not two short days, either. Somehow, I get the impression Musk isn't thinking about SK (or even Canada) with this announcement.

    SpaceX F9 - Telstar 18V - SLC-40

Hey Telesat, how about you make some of that broadband available here in Canada? I'm still stuck on 5mbps service that frequently reduces to less than 2mbps and pay more for it than most people pay for Fibre. The local ISPs constantly complain that it's too expensive to offer faster speeds to...

    Wal-Mart // Tesla Semi

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

Living well outside the distance required to max out the Ranger fee, I've taken advantage of this compromise several times. If the Ranger for the area is making their rounds through less-covered provinces, you can make arrangements to meet them and have repairs performed without incurring a...

Blog Tesla Owners Will Soon Be Able to Request Mobile Repair Service Through App

Did they not announce some version of this months back? I remember seeing a Tesla video showing a guy booking an appointment slot using his in-car Calendar and then also being able to check in from the car when he arrived at the service center.

Blog Tesla Releases Data on Utah Autopilot Crash

The naming is fine. Since before it was even made available, Elon has likened it to autopilot in an aircraft (ie: it will keep you on course in between points but will not take off or land the craft for you). This is exactly how it functions.

Poll: Model 3 Phone Key Failure Rate

This reminds me of the early days of the phone App. It was years before the Android version reached feature/reliability parity with the iPhone one. It seems Tesla still employs the same single intern working on weekends to compile the Android key compared to the experienced iOS team.

    Squamish, BC - Supercharger

This was actually the very first Supercharger to open in Canada. It came online in summer 2014, so unless it's down for maintenance I don't see why it shouldn't work.

It's still a service center though, right? Not another store/showroom? Sadly, I won't be able to attend the opening, as I've got several appointments the next day that I can't reschedule. :( Can someone refresh me on how you book a service appointment at this location? (I assume there will be...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Update car to latest firmware last night and it seemed to fix the app (was able to connect to the car super-fast a couple times). Now, a few hours later, it's right back to refusing to connect. I think it might be related to the car entering 'sleep mode'. I have energy saving set to OFF, but...

    Phone App: iPhone/Android app

Anybody else having App connection issues today (Jun 26, 2017)? I wasn't able to connect to my car all day via the App or VisibleTesla. Connection was rock-solid right after the UI refresh on the App a few weeks ago but updating the car to FW8.0 basically broke anything data-related (phone...

    Slacker Songs restarting - Why?

There is an even worse bug with Slacker; if your signal is weak/slow and the song progress bar catches the buffer bar, it will skip to the next song rather than pausing the current one until it finishes buffering. Really annoying since a) it seems to do it mostly on songs I'm really into and b)...

LTE connection not working after Canada trip

There could be some other factor at work here, but updating the car to 8.1 seems to have buggered my LTE antenna. Prior to the update, I had universal LTE coverage where I live. With the release of the 100D models, I'm finally ready to order the Model X I reserved back in 2013(!) However, since Tesla has no facilities (stores, service centers) in the province of SK, they do not offer direct leasing, leaving me to try and work something out with the Calgary store...

    Seatbelt Issue

Have this problem with my Model S every time I need to take my mother somewhere. She's a bit on the large side, so it may be related to that, but the tensioner will "lock" her in her seat several times during a given trip. It drives her mad (and thus, she drives me mad) Vancouver service...

    Tire FYI

Strangely, the lugnuts for my Model S seem to have changed size. I've been using a 21mm socket since I got the car in 2014, but that size now fits extremely tight (if it will go on at all) and will occasionally seize to the lug. This has happened with several lugnuts and I've tried using several...

Did anyone upgrade from 48 to 72 Amps?

Tesla seems to be under the impression that everyone has access to Superchargers and would not notice the change. Anybody without Supercharger access like myself (and you, presumably) was more than a little irked by this change.

Tesla wanabies....what are they going to do for supercharging?

That's the thing though; they WOULDN'T have to pay Tesla to use their network. All the patents are open and out there for anyone to use. The only condition is that they contribute to the network in proportion to the number of vehicles they'll be adding. If Chevy, BMW, or Nissan intend to dump...

Did anyone upgrade from 48 to 72 Amps?

Interesting. I was under the impression that it was my master unit that failed and that's why I was limited to charging at 26A, rather than the 40A typically allowed; The slave unit would not allow more than 26A to pass without detecting a functioning master unit... Though Tesla never...

Did anyone upgrade from 48 to 72 Amps?

For those of you with the 72A charger (and with it enabled), what are you seeing for Level 2 charging rates? For example, on my classic S with dual chargers, if I plugged into a 90A EVSE, CEC only allows a 72A draw. Connecting to a 100A EVSE would allow 80A. What does the 72A charger require...

    New Ontario Chargers

Agreed, but only because governments think short-term. Tesla has already cornered upwards of 60% of the EV market. In 5 or 10 years that could bump up to 75 or 80% and other companies may opt to use their open charging standard (the best one, by far, of those presently available).

    New Ontario Chargers

I've been out of the loop for a while, so this is the first I'm hearing about these chargers. Do we know what type they're supposed to be (Superchargers, CHAdeMO, HPWC, L2, etc)? I see the interactive map lists them as L3. Surely they can't be Superchargers?

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

UPDATE 5/1/2016 Just a little update on my 12V battery situation; fortunately, I finally heard back from Tesla and they told me a Ranger would be in my "area" (ie: within 600km) at the beginning of May and that he could replace my 12V. I kind of felt sorry for the poor guy because it looked...

The ALT hotel at YHZ has the strangest parking policy I have ever encountered. What they do is provide you with a credit of up to $15 per day toward the public parking fees at the airport. It's a one-time deal too, so you basically have to leave your car parked for the whole day in order to...

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't heard of TFX before but they certainly sound like something I could make use of, depending on where their depots are. I doubt they'll be cheaper than the Ranger when you factor in my remote location but I sent them a quote request anyway. You never know. I...

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

Hmmm....didn't really consider that an option, TBH. I didn't think those kinds of things were available for private use. At least, I'm not aware of any companies around here that offer such a service. We're pretty much limited to the local tow truck companies if we want to transport a...

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

My previous comment was already assuming Calgary was the starting point (I'm ~1200km from Calgary, BTW) Removing 800km would still leave a remaining distance of 400km subject to the fee. Though I guess it would be reduced to $1200 in that case versus the original $1500. As it turns out, the...

POLL: Have you had to have your 12V battery replaced?

Got the "Replace 12V Battery Soon" message on my instrument cluster a couple weeks ago with ~30K miles on the car. 12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

Yes and no. Having Tesla cover the first 800km would cut my total distance to the nearest service center in half. Unfortunately, the Ranger fee is $3.00 per km so I would still be looking at a $2400 charge for the remaining 800km. Fortunately (I guess), Tesla caps the fee at $1500. As long...

12V battery in trouble, far from service center. Options?

I'm assuming you guys aren't too familiar with the layout of the car. While the battery posts are located just behind the front nosecone for easy access and the battery format is fairly standard, Tesla (for reasons beyond my comprehension), decided to nestle the battery itself way down inside...
