    [UK] Spring Software Update

Re the giant car visualisation on Intel - I've already got a car display when the car is in park. Can't they just make that full screen as some sort of poor man's version of the new visualisation. Full screen autopilot is already available on Intel cars with FSD.

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I quite like a DC / hybrid setup as it allows you to generate more than your DNO export limit by pushing the excess into the batteries on the DC side.

    Model 3 Highland Performance

All those things are in Cybertruck and will no doubt appear at some point.

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Remember, they've changed the body and suspension but left everything else the same so the refresh is fairly minor. Theres till Vehicle to Grid, 48v and steer-by-wire to come before I'd consider this car "up to date".

    Model 3 Highland Performance

Which other models use 2170s from Fremont? Model Y LR and Performance?

    Model 3 Highland Performance

It may also indicate that Tesla are diverted Panasonic capacity away from Model S and X to ensure the MH3P, that has the greatest margins, gets the full tax credit. Perhaps the Panasonic solution, developed more closely with Tesla, offers higher peak discharge rates for the halo products.

They might have put the wrong one in - it does happen!

That actually got a bit of polish a while back. I wouldn't call it fast but it's quick enough for my Toddler.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Yes I saw that. Is it AMD+USS or just USS? Time will tell.

    Regen Braking

It might be related to changes in the BMS. I think that's what controls how much energy can go into the battery and, by extension, the regeneration. It's also a bit warmer now so maybe you can't throw 7 kw into the PTC heater anymore.

    [UK] Spring Software Update

Re Intel - could be a lack of performance or storage or just commonality with the rest of the range. I think I'd rather keep the current interface if that's what required to keep it stutter free. The million dollar question is, do Intel owners continue to get the nice little features are we...

Helvetia (& Tesla?) no longer offering extended warranties

Bit irritating that the gap opened up as I went out of warranty. When did they withdraw the product? Who do you contact to appeal the gap?

    Changes to Supercharging?

You see the higher price if you try and charge a non-Tesla EV in the app. It'd be a nice perk of ownership to get a discount on a second car but we can all see why they don't do that.

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

Insurance likely requires you to have a tyre that matches your vehicle top speed(?)

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

Looks good - is there any review data on wear rate?

    [UK] 2024.8.x

I had an issue where the option to leave the car unlocked at home got disabled and meant the charge port wouldn't unlock.

    Model 3 Highland Performance/Ludicrous Spotted

Got to be a bit careful with those numbers as Performance is without rollout and LR is with rollout. There's really strong evidence to say that Performance is just software and that was certainly true early on.
  20. J

    Model 3 Highland Performance/Ludicrous Spotted

Bit torn - I like it in principle but if the 0-60 is <0.5s quicker then they're clearly sandbagging to preserve the top end Plaid which isn't really an option here. Despite my predisposition for new and shiny things, the upgrade from a 2019 P3- would cost ~£30k and it feels like pretty poor...

    [UK] 2024.8.x

*.8.9 updated the firmware Gateway and the Charge Port Don't expect much to change! Perhaps it'll solve the specific issue I saw on the M4 of a Model 3 doing 85mph with its charge port open!

Spoiler install - Best double sided tape

In 2021 they did it remote for free with proof of puchase of an OEM spoiler and a photo proving its on the car. That might have been a generous tech? I had a P3- if that made a difference. Do LR owners see the option of a spoiler in the App Shop?
  23. J

Spoiler install - Best double sided tape

I fitted one myself using some of the guides online. The answer is 3M Very High Bond (VHB) tape ideally with an adhesion promoter, although I didn't use it. Rough outline of the steps: Prepare the surface with IPA and consider whether you need to remove wax on the paint Use masking tape to...

Is there any difference between Pilot Sport 4 and Pilot Sport 4 acoustic tyres?

FWIW I've had Pilot Sport 5 on the car for about a year and a half. Slightly more noise / drone but it's very road surface dependent. They seem to wear slower.

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

Still no forecast on pre-refresh interiors. I suspect it might never happen which is a shame. Not sure how they'd integrate it into the dash though. Maybe by taking up a phone charging slot?
  26. J

    [UK] 2024.8.x

*.8.7 is definitely a bug fix Service mode shows it only updated a few modules like the security gateway, VCFRONT and, for some reason, both parking brakes. I've got a feeling it has rolled back on AP too as it's back to braking hard for cars waiting at junctions.

Whats the criteria to be eligible for a successful retrofit - a certain revision of VCFRONT?

Wiki UK and Ireland Supercharger Site News

I'd bet they'll include a few Tesla units just so the station appears in the car's navigation. Gridserve do the same likely banking on the money made by footfall in that shops and because they'll invoice Tesla for the energy used.

    S3XY Knob Deliveries

It seems the version for the pre refresh trim is a way off then!

Maybe all the Cursed Roundabouts only exist in those two countries.

  35. J

    [UK] 2024.2

I have the same system and those numbers are rubbish. The daily / weekly / monthly totals never make sense. E.g. daily total > the month.
  36. J

    [UK] 2024.2

Yes, wiper sensitivity has dropped to a comically low level on *.8. Maybe that's why AP was crashing on roundabouts - it confused it with rain. On the lane change, accumulation of spray on the repeater camera can make it go unavailable and if that happens during a lane change it'll abort...

    Charge on Solar UK

My only grumble is how much Home Assistant effort has been made redundant by the new prices!

Pedestrian Warning System - Self Install

I don't come here for non-nerdy stuff. Not sure I can justify £170 but I'll think about it! Where can I see what functionality is left / available in the UK?
  39. J

Pedestrian Warning System - Self Install

I'd assumed that the harness would be terminated with a connector. Might just get Tesla to do it, although it says you don't get Boombox functionality. I'm not quite sure how you can have one without the other?

Pedestrian Warning System - Self Install

Which installation procedures did people follow? Wheel off Arch liner out Screw in Reverse to install? Can anyone confirm if the Tesla park comes with fixtures?

EVSE died after 7years and 23MWh. Low cost dumb EVSE replacement recommendations ?

It's relatively easy to do yourself if you're happy to do it without a PEN detector.

EVSE died after 7years and 23MWh. Low cost dumb EVSE replacement recommendations ?

The point still stands. As the wiring already exists switching over to a Gen 3 Wall Connector is trivial. You also get the button to open the charge port.
  49. J

    [UK] 2024.2

I'm finding the Visualisation/ AP failure occurs at the same roundabouts. Perhaps something to do with switching between right and left repeater camera plus the curvature of the road?
