trunk closes but wont latch that extra latch so car says trunk open

The part was $85, the labour was $40. I'll pay them another $40 to come back to my house and replace the cinch motor if that fails, but it's been absolutely fine for almost a month now.

trunk closes but wont latch that extra latch so car says trunk open

My X's liftgate sensor failed, so it was stuck thinking the trunk was permanently open, the latch (which contains the sensor) and the cinch motor were still opening and closing properly. If it's not under warranty replace only the part that failed. Both of these components don't wear out the...

Is any MCU1 car actually on FSD Beta yet?

It's 100% pure 💩... Tesla service lies basically all the time. They'll say anything to make you go away and hit their metrics. I think the issue is that the Tegra2 gpu (also found smart phones circa 2011) in the instrument cluster probably isn't up to the task of visualizing the complex...

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

I'm going to guess that hold up in getting a new build > 11.36.1 for MCU1 cars is that Tesla are struggling to get the ancient "Nvidia Tegra 2" in the IC to be performant enough to display the visualisations stream being sent from the HW3 AP computer. The good new is the FSD Recall FAQ page...

FSD Beta for legacy Model S/X with MCU1 (2022.8.10.8)

Curious if you received a recall letter from Tesla or any recall communication about the version of FSD on your car? Wondering if Tesla plans to push out 11.x to MCU1 anytime soon or if the NHSTA will keep the recall open until Tesla address MCU1's FSD as well.

    AMP and subwoofer upgrade..????

Is your MX premium audio or base? Thinking of trying to upgrade my base, so watching your thread closely to see what I can learn...

Buying a Used MX (2016-2017) Final Checklist

Yes, I have a Dec' 2016 X w/ MCU1 and HW3, the visualisations aren't as smooth on MCU1, but that has nothing to do with AP's driving performance. Any Tesla with B-pillar cameras can be upgraded to HW3, it may require a new AP computer and camera retrofit, but if one of the owners paid for FSD...

    2016 Model X 90D vs 2017 Model X 100D (Features vs Budget)

Just bought a Dec '16 MX90D, 7-seat (3x captains; might take out the middle one later), FUSC, PUP, MC1 w/ HW3, FSD paid for (but not deployed yet)... My objective was an AWD FSD capable vehicle with FUSC to be the family hauler, it ticked the boxes. I agree 90 or 100kwh is preferable to...

MCU1 S Owners: Logic FOR/AGAINST Tesla's $2,500 "Infotainment Upgrade"? (Not required for FSD)

Believe it's 2019.36.x firmwares. Reduced logging on it's own is unlikely to prevent failures on its own... a big part of the equation is heat build-up inside the MCU, it typically runs 20C to 30C hotter than the outdoor temperature, temperatures can be over 80C in summer time... This is...

MCU1 S Owners: Logic FOR/AGAINST Tesla's $2,500 "Infotainment Upgrade"? (Not required for FSD)

I might be the world's leading expert working with a dead MCU (mine was dead for 6 months before I "resurrected" it)... When the MCU dies the car is still able to charge at full speed until it's next reboot, so you would've lost that ability in a month or so anyway... After the reboot the car...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

It's too technical to get into great detail, basically the eMMC file system is compressed (squashfs), when blocks die on the flash, the files that live on those blocks become corrupted. There is a way to tell Linux to remap the location of those files to somewhere else (non-corrupt files)...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

Next time you desolder the emmc to replace it in a few more years, root it... I can help you keep the MCU going even with corruption. It's also a good idea because you can disable the insane amount of write logging to /var/log and implement an automatic cooling script to run the AC when the...

    Preventive eMMC replacement on MCU1

My 2 cents... There's no point in premptively replacing the eMMC before it fails. Any replacement will fail eventually as well. If you have root, there are steps you can take to reduce damage to the eMMC: logging to tmpfs, actively cooling the MCU using the A/C are two I use. If you have...
