    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

(In case you didn't already know) Hope-Princeton in the summer is already easy to cover without additional charging, even with an old SR+. The newer Hope supercharger is roomy, and super convenient especially when heading east.

They did come back soon! Note fresh electrical tape. Follow for more exciting updates.

The hydro meter is on, but the stalls look only 99% assembled. I figure whoever left them this way planned to come back pretty soon. Looks like a handy location. Minimal fuss getting on/off the 401.

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

Fortis and Tesla crews are monitoring this thread, ready to turn on the power as soon as someone here guesses the real reason for the delay.

The new hydro pole doesn't appear to be connected to the grid yet. Can't be sure that's what the pole is for, but that might need to happen before anyone can charge.

I don't know but sometimes a transformer looks almost exactly like that green cabinet behind the white cabinets next to the building.

Obviously Fortis tracks the number of eager phone calls they get from non-customers about each upcoming project or task, so they can prioritize them accordingly. But do they prioritize the ones with the most calls, or the fewest?

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

Provided we keep reminding one another to visit the site every 15 minutes, I think the expected sequence is (1) meter installed (2) one of us notices the meter is installed and reports it here (3) charging station starts working (4) one of us notices the charging station is working and reports...

Hmm... fencing has been down for several months. Didn't see a meter today.

Needs? Meh. Upsala has been online for >2 years and still isn't paved. 😁

There's a clear cover on it. Everyone can relax. And yes that second sentence is a joke.

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

I don't know what all the impatience is about. In post #29 the message from Canadian Tire said "should be up and running mid to late October" and it's not even mid October yet.

The week isn't over yet... but there is still no meter.

Supercharger - Nepean, ON - Robertson Road

FWIW I charged my 3 SR+ here twice yesterday and everything seemed normal. I didn't pay especially close attention, but in both cases I preconditioned, arrived with ~30%, used the stall closest to the street, and (according to my account history) got >100 kW for 2 minutes.

    Western Canada Superchargers

To be fair, the sign says "1 hour parking" and there is at least one empty stall, so just based on the picture, nobody's charging speed/access was affected and no rule was broken. Giving a 1-star review over an inconvenience that could have happened, but didn't? Meh.

    Supercharger - Fernie, BC

Can confirm FLO stalls are live, Supercharger stalls are not.

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

There is no meter and no transformer. In the pictures above you can see a concrete pad surrounded by yellow bollards currently being used to store some fencing sections. Legend has it that's where the transformer will appear when it appears. I'm no expert but it looks to me like the underground...

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

Checked April 3. Still looks identical to January 29, but without snow. Probability of opening in May has decreased from 50% to 49.9̅%.

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

No transformer yet. Just a concrete pad poking up through the gravel in a spot where a transformer might go. And some bollards. And some other work in progress nearby that is probably related in some way.

    CCS Adapter for North America

Given that you're stopped at a place that has CCS but no SC in this scenario, 100 kW is infinity times faster than a 250 kW charger that doesn't exist. Opposite of a problem!

    Supercharger - Castlegar, BC

Checked Friday. Fencing yes, transformer no. No apparent changes since Nov 7.

How do I disable the noisemaker in my Tesla Model 3

The car should detect pedestrians, and refuse to drive into them no matter how impatient/unaware/incompetent/self-important the driver is. The driver should be able to make a polite excuse-me honk, to avoid unnecessary delays. Whenever those situations come up where your right of way is more...

How do I disable the noisemaker in my Tesla Model 3

I wouldn't recommend cutting the wires. If the noise statistically reduces harm, we should do it. "They cannot say they were not warned" though? Ew. It's our responsibility as drivers to avoid hitting people. Earbuds, deaf, drunk, sleeping, babies, whatever.

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

Indeed, in Wawa the left 3 were on, right 3 were off. I didn't end up charging in Ignace. Having seen the closures on nav and discovered in Dryden that "temporarily closed" means "might work", I had charged enough in Dryden to get to Upsala (210 km) thinking I would be OK if either Ignace or...

    Mid-Canada Superchargers

Reliability data point: A couple of weeks ago I drove my SR+ from Nelson BC to Belleville ON. I stopped at 21 superchargers over 4 days. One failed me. Dryden, Upsala, and Wawa ON worked despite being listed as "temporarily closed". Wawa had 3/6 stalls online, and my account wasn't charged...

    Thumps and clunks while charging

I worried about this noise quite a bit the day I took my car home from delivery -- 700 km, lots of mountains. I felt better after reading this TSB. It's still happening three months and 8000 km later. Disconcerting for passengers, but it no longer makes me worry that something is broken. Now...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

Perhaps the car is a little too cautious, and isn't willing to work right up to the edge of the electrical safety code limits. Or perhaps the system is exceeding the electrical safety code limits. Either way, as others have said, low voltage will not damage your car. I'd report it to the...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

The system that detects voltage fluctuations (and responds by limiting current) must be aware of the incoming voltage. That's one reason why it starts low and ramps up. If it weren't smart enough to know whether the initial/nominal voltage was 208 or 240, it would be useless for detecting...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

Good point re stepping up to 277 instead of just 240. Read this first though. Seems like some conditions apply. Info from Tesla - 277v feed to Wall Connector (HPWC) - Which Cars Support It Also: before you spend too much time/money on this, consider that charging 15-30% faster at home doesn't...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

Changing the service is such a big deal I wouldn't even bother asking about the cost (let alone complaining). I would ask an electrician about installing a 208-to-240 step-up transformer between the panel and the charger, though. The transformer itself is probably under $500. If you do look into...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

If the car reads 208V on a 240V circuit, something is terribly wrong. If that happens at 6A, you can pinpoint the problem by turning up to 32A. Whatever the problem was, it should now be on fire.
  42. clegg

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

My readings: 247V @ 6A, down to 243V @ 32A. It's acceptable/normal for the panel-to-charger feed to lose up to ~6V over a long run (like 230ft of #6 carrying 32A on a 40A breaker). Your 50ft feed should lose 1.3V. My 30ft feed should lose 0.8V. All four examples here seem to point to the...

Only 198 volts on nema 14-50. Yikes!?

El0n: Condo building seems more likely to have a 3-phase 120/208 service. 200V is over 95% of 208V so that all sounds normal. DavidM34Me: Detached house with 120/208 service seems a bit unusual/rare, but still the most likely explanation. If that's what you have, 198V in itself wouldn't...
