    Tesla Loan Car - Supercharger?

I had a loan Model X for 6.5 weeks. I used superchargers a fair bit at zero cost to me and far exceeded the 100 or 200miles. Use and abuse :)

    Moving house

Spoken to electrician who does not believe any consideration / alterations to part-p is required when removing a circuit. Naturally need to make sure it's safe and terminated - I plan to simply remove the cable from the fusebox

    Moving house

Interesting points. I will double check with my solicitor. I did made specific mention in our fixtures and fittings form that it would be excluded thinking that would explicitly mention that it wasn’t part of the sale. Hadn’t considered part p

    Moving house

I'm moving house in a couple of weeks and fully intend to take my EO Pro Mini with me (also have a DC leakage box of tricks too). Easy to disconnect and I'll pull the cable through and out of the fuse box so it's clean. I may even fill the hole in the wall if I'm feeling kind.

    Agile rates?

Everyone’s usage will vary slightly - so you’ll need to do your own sums. However, since I switched to Agile in March ‘20 I have saved £175.26 vs Go with an average spend of £45.31p/m. Even with the rates in Sept (which have been the worst I’ve seen Agile) I’m still saving £3.96 (month...

    Lease v buy 2020

At the moment, the depreciation of the M3 seems incredibly low. Over 3 years that may be different of course. How would you find the ~£56k to purchase the car? Interest rates etc. may have a bearing on extra costs to buy

    External Garage - Charging

Presumably the difference with a new car charger is it's a new cable/run from the CU so classed as a new circuit? And it's a 32A (or in my case 16A) going out to a metal object so they're being extra cautious. All food for thought! Thanks again! Nick
  13. N

    External Garage - Charging

I shall look forward to what I discover when we move in! Assuming it's still 2.5mm then there wouldn't be a need to replace it (just not armoured SWA)? Were you able to pull the cable through or did you have to dig it all out? Nick
  14. N

    External Garage - Charging

Interesting re: Part P etc. Given I'm installing the EO Pro mini car charger, does that not need sign off from someone? Or does the DC leakage box void the need for that? Nick
  15. N

    External Garage - Charging

Makes complete sense - thank you! I assume I could add the existing garage socket ring to the 40 A RCBO and the lighting circuit to the B6 fuse within the new CU (with DC leakage and open PEN protection). Don't worry - I will get an electrician to do the work Thanks for your help!
  16. N

    External Garage - Charging

Photos of the CU, fuse in garage and the DC leakage device I’ve currently got. Would I need to reduce the fuse in the DC leakage box?
  17. N

    External Garage - Charging

That's good to know. The whole garage is run off that 20A fuse - so anything plugged into the sockets, lights etc. (although wouldn't expect much / any load while the car is charging) does give a bit of wiggle room to run them in parallel to the car at 16A. I hope. Nick
  18. N

    External Garage - Charging

I fully intend on taking my EO Pro mini and Matte device with me in the move - not sure I'd buy a car charger for 16A charging - but given I already have it, seems like a better option than commando & UMC combo. The garage is on a 63A 30mA RCD (with a 20A fuse) from the consumer unit. Can I run...

    External Garage - Charging

I should have mentioned that in my post. Current trends aside (nursery runs and the occasional longer journey at weekends) I can't think of any examples where I depleted the battery and needed a full charge the next day in the 10months of ownership. Certainly not likely to be a regular thing...

    External Garage - Charging

I have an EO Pro Mini, connected with a DC leakage box of tricks all working perfectly at 32A. However I have bought a new house (~20years old), which has a separate double garage approx. 10metres away from the main house. The garage does have power. I have not moved in yet and therefore unable...

Model 3 premium audio in RHD/UK

Following this post with interest. To my untrained ears I’ve always felt there’s a ‘warmth’ missing in the midrange. Depth from the sub surprised me and tweeters are ok (not a fan of the immersive sound stage however). Could the jump between 8” woofers in the doors and the “3 in the dash be...

    Dilemma: Petrol Station Etiquette

I think there's a secret 4th option to consider here... Push your lawnmower to the petrol station and fill it up directly from the pump. And have a bumper sticker on the lawmower that says 'my other vehicle is a Tesla'

    Rolec vs Ohme

I've not got the Rolec or Ohme installed (EO Mini Pro). To me it sounds like your installer is pushing the one he knows. You would use the Rolec as a 'dumb' charger and then use EV.Energy app to control when to charge (taking into account Agile rates). The Ohme is smart already and links to...

    EV.Energy App

I set a threshold to only charge 'off peak' when the rate is below a certain amount. I'm also on agile and I have mine set to only charge when the rate is less than 3p/kWh (for example). Then it works out how much charge is needed and goes for the cheapest times to make sure I hit set charge...

    EV.Energy App

I set the car to schedule a charge at 00:00 so that it doesn't try and start a charge as soon as I plug the car in. Then have the EV.Energy app to do the rest. Have car to be ready for 16:00 (as you won't want it to try and charge after 16:00). What do you set your 'only charge off-peak'...

    Linked driver profiles

My wife and I both share the same Tesla log-in (lease vehicle) and have different profiles set. The car happily distinguishes between each phone. However, if we were both getting into the car, 9/10 it will pick up my wife's phone and move seat etc. to her profile even if I get to the car (with...

Silverstone Track day in a Model 3 Performance

Wouldn't it be awesome if there were 3x groups (beginner, inter, advanced) in a day each being 20min sessions. And in the 40mins you weren't on track you could plug in to a high-speed charger to top back up to 100% Unfortunately until the infrastructure is there to do that then tracking any...

Private Reg Plate on Tesla Lease

Hi Jar, I added personal plate to my LeasePlan Tesla - ultimately you pay an admin fee for THEM to do it as they have the V5C. Oh and you have to put your plate in their name - or at least put them as authoriser (I forget the technical term). Definitely possible, but be prepared to pay a...

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

This is an example (from this morning) why I’m not in love with the Energy.Ev app. If anyone has ideas as to why then welcome. Parameters: 1) set to charge from car at 00:00 to stop car charging immediately when plugged in (recommendation from energy.ev app) 2) Charge limit set to 90% 3) car...

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

How often do you guys load the app on your iPhone? i.e. can I leave it to do its thing in the background? And refresh the daily Agile tariffs without intervention?

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

Just read Energy.ev and it suggests putting a delay timer in on the car (I.e. midnight) and then energy.ev app will override those settings within 30mins! I’ll give it a go

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

Thanks. I’ll test it (outside of peak hours). Another anomaly is it stopped charging at 7am this morning. - Smart charging set to less than 6p, which agile rates in my area was like that until 7:30 - SoC was 83% with max set at 90% ‘I need my car by’ is set to 07:00. Wonder if that has a...

    Scheduled charging with EV.energy app

I need to try ev.energy app again - I've not found it the most reliable and have now disabled it for the time being. Q - what impact does 'I need my car charged by: ' setting in the smart charging section? i.e. will it override 'only charge off-peak' setting? I wanted to use the app to...

Finally Arrived! Subtle Enhancements with pics

Yeah, can see why the original metal plate would work better. I re-used a personal plate I already had made up.

Finally Arrived! Subtle Enhancements with pics

The plate comfortably covers the mounting bracket such that you can barely see it. Secured with a couple of screws, simply because of the bend - however the end pieces of sticky pads have held, so I'd be quietly confident the whole thing would work with pads
  45. N

Finally Arrived! Subtle Enhancements with pics

Very straightforward... Take the outer Tesla plastic frame/bracket off (two screws) then you're left with a bracket that attaches to the bumper. Mount a plastic number plate to the bracket. I also used sticky pads on the ends to help the plate follow the bend/contour of the bumper.
  46. N

Finally Arrived! Subtle Enhancements with pics

Has this been lowered too? I'm not personally a fan of the stick-on front number plate. I tried and then went back to a normal one (without Tesla bracket).

Octopus Agile and Ohme Charger cost of charging estimate
