Possible to lock M3 with cellphone in car?

Make sure to do both airplane mode on and Bluetooth off. I've seen my phone automatically turn Bluetooth back on when it wasn't on Airplane mode.

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

Ummm... Not my opinion. It's physics. Even 1g lighter with same power, will be faster. You don't seem to understand experimental controls and limits of measurement accuracy well.

How urgent is "12V battery degraded" warning?

Any new car needs the computer to be aware of the battery specs and the age of the battery. It will charge differently as the battery ages. If it still thinks an old battery is installed, it may give too much juice to the new battery on a regular basis or something to that effect. I don't know...

Sold my Model 3 after 3 years. Cost of ownership.

Cost of ownership includes insurance, repairs, maintenance, interest, taxes and fees, registration, and any other expenses along with depreciation and fuel costs. Usually broken down on a monthly basis. The information you have provided in this post is not very useful.

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

A half second is an obvious lie. But lightweight wheels are definitely faster. Whether it is measurable or negligible depends on the amount of weight savings. Any increase in power to weight ratio, no matter how small, will be faster. Also, I wouldn't imagine there is significant difference...

3 dual motor - are both motors used all the time

I'm still trying to get used to the traction control and what it will let you do and when it will lock you down. I'm finding if I drive it right, I can get the back end out just a little before I lay into it and pull it straight, but it's not super intuitive. In general tho, it seems like more...

    Best M3 All-season tire - Crossclimate2?

The CC2 definitely looks like one of the best all around all seasons available. Best for the Model 3 would depend on how you value a number of factors tho (ie I went with the Pirelli PZero AS+ over the Michelin PS AS4 because I wanted comfort, noise and rolling resistance over dry grip). This...

lightweight wheels model 3 performance 0-60 testing

There are plenty others who have shaved a tenth of a second or more. Read through some of the acceleration related threads (may take awhile; they're long) As others have mentioned, you may be able to shave a tenth of a second, but it's not a guarantee. I went with flow formed wheels that looked...

Just mashed the pedal on a Performance Model 3, OMG!

The P is too much. More of a party trick (like FSD) outside of the track. The LR is enough. AB should be about perfect.

    Differences in Acceleration between 2020 & 2021

    That was my understanding.
  11. O

    Differences in Acceleration between 2020 & 2021

It's not tire size, it's the compound that creates a large difference in rolling resistance. Low hysteresis is needed for low rolling resistance and it is almost exactly the opposite of what is needed for high grip/performance (especially in wet conditions)
  12. O

    Differences in Acceleration between 2020 & 2021

I had assumed the difference was all in the tires and aero wheel covers. What is known about the difference between the 980 and 990 motors?

One touch auto up/down window control not working

This solved my problem too. Great post!

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S vs. Pilot Sport All Season 4 for 19"

The all-season will last a lot longer. Think the PS4S is more of a dry oriented tire than the PS4 and the PS4 AS, but I wouldn't think that would be a problem unless you lived in the UK or Pacific NW. I'd bet tire noise, ride comfort and rolling resistance are all slightly better with the all...

What do you think of the uberturbine wheels on the M3P?

The look of the wheel (terrible), the 20" size (too big), the 35 series tire (too small), and summer only is a big reason I went with an LR+. There are tons of sets of Performance wheels and tires for sell locally and they aren't easy to get rid of. If I'm replacing the stock wheels and tires...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

The difference above 60 between the P, AB, and LR looks hard to pin down. Just going off typical eighth mile and quarter mile times and trap speeds, I'd venture to say almost no difference between AB and P, small difference between AB and LR. Would love to see if anyone has any roll racing...

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

Stance SF10 19x8.5 +35 with 245/40r19 Pirelli P-Zero AS+. With Stance, you can custom pick your offset, so I could have gone +30 or +32 for completely flush, but I didn't want to change the scrub radius that much. For me, the +35 looks right.

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

I use optimum car wax. Usually only need to wax once a year and then spray detailer once a week in summer. My cars stay glossy enough for me doing this. Went with the TESLA letter badge in the rear and bronze wrap on all the emblems, including the steering wheel. The bronze wrap is slightly...

Picked up new m3 LR July 21 but no Boombox? here in Melbourne yesterday.

An M3 is a BMW... The Tesla 3 is so good it does not need to ride BMW's coattails.
  21. O

Model 3 LR. Has acceleration boost upgrade been discontinued? [ no ]

Performance runs 11.5-11.7 at 116-118 and accel boost runs 11.7-11.9 at 115-117. There are a few outliers that are slightly faster or slower, but that's the general range seen.

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

I assume so, but haven't done much night driving and have only noticed LDW when I did not want it to do anything. In general, I don't care for these systems and have only left them active because they haven't been annoying yet like they were on my 3 series.

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

I swapped TPMS over. The tire guy from ASAP tire (Tire Rack) said he could have removed just them from the wheel by just separating that part of the tire, but I had him separate the wheels and tires so I could try to sell the tires. Not sure how easy it would be to remove the TPMS and install a...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Got my new wheels finally. Stance SF10 in dual bronze, 19X8.5 +35 with 245/40r19 Pirelli P-Zero AS+ and some black spline lug nuts. Absolutely love them.

    Should I get white interior?

If you didn't try to remove those stains with IPA, then your anecdote means nothing. That's what I did when I demo'd a car with a white interior and everything came out with ease.
  26. O

Where is the best place to purchase/replace/align tires on a Model 3?

I just had my new wheels, tires, and lug nuts delivered and installed by Tire Racks ASAP tire service that comes to your house. Was so nice.

Discussion: Tesla Vision system for Model 3/Y

I'm pretty happy with the Vision system on my new 3. Works much better than I thought it would. The few phantom braking events so far were not a problem. Overall, I'm really impressed with the systems ability to track the lane in areas with tons of breaks in the lines. And it does a great job...

How do you live with the wind/tire noise? Comparing to Model S.

Test drive a '21 3. If you need something quieter than that, try an S-Class or something.

White interior M3 - need help with choosing tint %

I've decided against tint with my white interior because I like the contrasting look of it against the blue exterior.
  30. O

Question for owners: is white interior too bright (model 3/S/X)?

It's too bright where I live to drive without sunglasses at pretty much any time of day, so the difference between my white 3 interior and previous tan BMW interior has been negligible. When I forget sunglasses, the white dash trim is noticeably reflective tho.
  31. O

    Why should I get a 3 instead of a Y?

Never even considered the Y. My 335i had plenty of room for hauling my infant and toddler as well as my bikes, and the 3 has a little more room than it did.

2021 Refresh: White Seats with Black Fabric Inner

China has a bad reputation for QC for good reason. Every engineer I've talked to that's done business in China has complained incessantly about it. From what I've gathered, it's a cultural norm to randomly cut quality at times to make more profit. I would think that Tesla has the ownership...

    Aftermarket Wheels on Model 3

Well for me it's bronze, always bronze. But when you're paying that much money for wheels, definitely wait to get exactly what you want.

Added Wheel Spacers to my LR AWD - Looks WAY Better!

Eh, seems like a very significant scrub radius change. I wouldn't go more than a few mm myself without knowing what the impact would be. Looks good tho.
  35. O

    What's next for model 3?

Really the only thing I'd like to see is more color options (really want green) and doors that shut easier/better (soft close?). So far, I actually don't miss the HUD, blind spot monitoring and 360 cameras that my BMW had that much (tho the 360 camera view is the most noticed out of all of...

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

I've been wondering how much of it is the tires since I will swap them out as soon as my wheels come in. My 2021 3 is a lot quieter than my BMW 335, and more comfortable. Also, the demo models I test drove at the beginning of April were just as quiet and comfortable.

Tesla Model 3 is the most American-made car, new study says

Specifically in the case of the automotive industry, both my wife and I have directly benefitted a tremendous amount from multiple family members that were able to obtain good jobs and careers working for the "Big 3". While Tesla may not be union, they are still providing good jobs for a lot of...

Tesla Model 3 is the most American-made car, new study says

Super awesome that the 1st new car I buy (this weekend!) will be American. And the MOST American at that. I also like what Ford is doing and am hopeful for GM (FCA will always make Jeeps, I guess?). An exciting time to see EVs not only revolutionizing the driving experience, but also shaking up...

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

Kinda what I was thinking, but figured add in another 30 days before everything goes into effect because it's the government. Maybe not if it's just a non-refundable tax incentive, but if it's a point of sale rebate, I assume that would take some time to implement. The Clean Energy for America...

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

I agree there is likely to still be some credits at some point, but I would expect them late Fall of this year at the earliest. This would mean that if it is non-refundable, then you would not have much time to arrange your taxes to take advantage, which then moves it to next year for most...

Tesla EV Tax Credits coming back?

Pretty much exactly what I was expecting (and hoping) for. I decided to take delivery on my car now and not wait until next year for a possible tax credit. It just felt like with the Green Act and Clean Energy for America Act being introduced recently, that it was anticipated the Infrastructure...

Test drove the Model Y, Model 3 and the Mach E back to back to back, yesterday

Will I "erase" my first set of tires quickly?

Yeah, they could be exactly the same with a foam insert or completely different. The PS4S on the new M3, for instance, uses 4 different types of rubber instead of 2 and is tuned for maximum dry grip at the expense of wet grip. But it's also an extreme example. For me, tires are a wear item and...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Finally pick up my 3 next week after a couple of years of looking for something to replace my 335i Xdrive, which has been an incredible car. I plan to buy AB the next day after delivery just so that I can make sure I am able to fully appreciate the extra acceleration it provides from stock, lol...

Model 3 Performance vs Model S Long Range

The S could cost less than the 3 and I still wouldn't consider it. Too big, too heavy, too cumbersome. I never even considered a Tesla until the 3. Even rode in a Model S P100D years ago and wasn't super impressed.
