Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It's mentioned in the 10-K, interesting.

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Not saying the Finnish tax office/law is always logical, but in a logical way of looking at this there is a big difference between a company paying money or equivalent (e.g. shares it holds) and by that act reducing it's capital/value and a split where there is no difference in the value of the...

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Also Nordnet Finland. Seems good so far, zero price for the new shares and considering dividend normally is taxed immediately I looks good.

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Saturday a bit after feeling rich for a little bit (shares split and non-split price) the rest of the information was updated as well. Sunday came the updates of my average purchase price however nothing yet in the transactions log. When checking this morning I noticed the transactions now...

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Stock splits completed in my Nordnet account. This morning the amount of shares was updated with the closing price of yesterday looking pretty nice. Value now updated as well, so seems all went well.

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Same here, I'll probably hold, looking at what the Finnish tax code states on stock based dividend vs a stock split I would think it's much harder to argue the case of dividend payment in the form of shares than it is to argue the case that this is a split through means of dividend. Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Strange, I received a straight answer on the phone by Nordnet in Finland. In the investment roadtable thread a document came by with par value $ 0,001. Would that be of influence to the tax office's decision?

    Hello from Finland

Hello all, long time reader of the forum, registered end of last year and started posting today :-). Unfortunately no Tesla in my driveway yet. I was close pulling the trigger last year, but held off and invested some money in Tesla shares, looking back not as bad of an option as it felt last year.

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

I just called Nordnet Finland and pointed them to the Tesla press release. According to them it's standard 1:5 stock split, no action needed from my part nor any taxation impact. I have asked Nordnet to publish this statement on their FAQ/investors page and they would take it into consideration...

Stock split tax implications for non-US shareholders

Kiitos/thanks Junas for taking this in a separate thread, easier to keep with this one. It seems in Finland the OST account is similar to this. Unfortunately I have 2/3 of my holdings in a normal account.
