FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I tried this and holding the stalk down did not work for me. Canceling and requesting it did. Also, I've seen it refuse for a while but eventually change lanes.

2020 MY - TeslaCam Dashcam - USB no longer recognized

If true, the problem is minor. Could someone test this by saving a dashcam clip (honk horn or tap icon) and seeing if it was saved?

    Prep for Cross-Country Shipping

Figure out the max time between the last charge and the arrival, then see if you can afford 15% per day of Sentry. Note that Sentry turns off when the car gets to 20% (correct me if I'm wrong). I see no downside to folding the mirrors.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Motion sickness is a puzzle, but the "conflicting inputs" idea doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If I show you picture of a rabbit and tell you it's giraffe, does it make you feel nauseated? My wife and I were invited for a day on a sailboat. She took a Dramamine. We spent wonderful hours on...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I find it very hard to see if their steering wheel icon is blue. But seriously, I'm always curious about who's using FSD, but how do you tell? Stop sign behavior? Driving on the edge of the lane? Moves over when truck is in adjacent lane?

will not auto lock when parked at work since too close to home

A workaround would be to get into the habit of tapping the lock icon on the car's screen before you get out of the car at work.

will not auto lock when parked at work since too close to home

I found that it would not auto lock at a location about 1,000 feet from home. I was testing walkaway locking, and it was a while before I realized what was going on.

    Must have security items

Good point. Maybe use the lock only when you REALLY need the car charged up. Also, I bet it's pretty rare that people do what that guy did. Finally, at a Tesla destination charger (as in that video) you have no choice. The plug will be locked in.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Gotcha. I'm talking about the driver pressing the accelerator and the car refusing to accelerate. That never happens, right?

    "officially recommended" tire rotation pattern?

The spares in our two Teslas have never touched the road. One hasn't been taken out of the covering it came in. Do you still replace it if it hasn't been used (or only used for a few miles)? Is it an issue of aging rubber?
  12. PianoAl

    Must have security items

    But not impossible.
  13. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

That's the first I've heard of FSD ignoring the driver's intentions. You pressed the accelerator, and the car did not respond? Maybe you just tapped it and waited?
  14. PianoAl

    Must have security items

I have these stickers. They are on the inside of the window but over the course of a few years, they have shriveled and cracked.
  15. PianoAl

    Must have security items

A J1772 plug has a button that physically releases the latch holding it onto the adapter. The adapter lock prevents that button from unlatching the plug from the adapter. The car holds the adapter in, so removal can't happen. Some videos show that it's very hard to yank out the plug if the car...

2020 MY - TeslaCam Dashcam - USB no longer recognized

To test, can you tap to save the footage then eject the USB and view it on your computer? I haven't read this entire thread--sorry if this has already been mentioned.
  17. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

We have two, both with the same software versions (see sig). I drive both extensively. I haven't noticed any difference in their behaviors. I may be different from many here because I primarily "use" FSD rather than "test" FSD. I take over for UPLs or any sketchy situation. If the car starts to...

1 Year Used Tesla Model 3 Review

Sometimes this can be fixed by bringing your Universal Mobile Charger.
  19. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have never heard of a complaint about tailgating prior to V12.
  20. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Thinking back, do you think it's possible that your car simply noticed that given the speed of the other driver, it had time to make the turn, so it pulled out. IOW, maybe it had nothing to do with the other driver yielding.
  21. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Interesting idea, but I suspect it's just changing it's mind, something I've seen it do with no other cars around. Mine does this a lot. I was about to calibrate the cameras, but it doesn't happen when running v11 on highways, so I don't think that's it. Yes, I've seen it.

    TMC Crashes Brave?

No, but I haven't viewed TMC on any others. It only happens intermittently and perhaps only when lots of tabs are open. On Google Pixel Tablet.

Choosing between two models, taking into account range and charging habit

It looks like you have (or can estimate) all the numbers needed to calculate the expected cost for each of the cars. For example, estimate the range for each of the cars based on expected degradation, heat pump use, etc. Calculate how miles of range you can get from an average day from your...

    New tires with sidewall?

235/45R-18 VREDESTEIN QUATRAC PRO XL I had those. Plenty of protection and they lasted 60k miles, but I didn't like them because they were noisy. Search for my posts about them.
  25. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Yes, often it does, but sometimes it's way too close. I've seen tailgating only 2-3 times, but it's pretty dramatic.
  26. PianoAl

    TMC Crashes Brave?

I'm bringing this up in case others have seen it. Using TMC in the Brave browser, I occasionally get a message that Brave is not responding, and do I want to wait or close the app. I've only had it happen when on the TMC site, but I can't say that TMC is causing it.
  27. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Good to know. Next time my car tailgates, I will disengage.

They're gonna get a speeding ticket sooner or later If they can't keep their feet off the accelerator.

Yeah, I spent some time looking for a solution with Brave, but was unsuccessful.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Based on Tesla's message (Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is enabled on your vehicle), I think that the update enabled this without my knowledge. So be aware of this if you have multiple profiles. Does Tesla enable this without you having to confirm the legal liability disclaimer? I turn on...
  33. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have two profiles, Al FSD and Al No FSD. After some surprising behavior, I checked and found that FSD had been switched on in the latter. No way I did that.
  34. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

    No other cars either time.
  35. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

On a particular section of road, v12.3.3 would consistently slow down at several spots. Yesterday, still on 12.3.3, the car drove at the MAX speed without slowing, almost as if it had learned from my pressing the accelerator. A surprising amount of inconsistency for a computer. If I'd installed...

Pic of your Model 3.......RIGHT NOW! [model 3 pictures thread]

It goes up when you pass a pretty woman.
  37. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I haven't had such a bad experience since then, but I've been more wary. I think I'd pressed the accel pedal before that turn, and it hadn't slowed down. Can't say if newer version acts differently.

    Lower Subscription Price Coming?

Yay! I assume I don't need to do anything, and the amount they deduct will just drop.
  39. PianoAl

    Recommend me jack stands?

Note that you don't need jack stands to rotate the tires, as long as you have a spare. It's only slightly less efficient. Also, if you buy tires from a local shop, they will probably do rotations for free.
  40. PianoAl

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

V 11 responded correctly where a sign said "End 45 MPH," and there was a "55" printed on the road. V12 doesn't understand this.
  41. PianoAl

    Lower Subscription Price Coming?

I would like to correct myself. I was interpreting the post as saying the take rate would increase by 25%, but that's not what it says. It's saying that the take rate would increase to 25%. Any guesstimate of what the current take rate is?
  42. PianoAl

    Lower Subscription Price Coming?

LOL. Yes, an obvious math error. Could subscriptions double if the price were halved? I doubt it.

Recalibrating Cameras to Fix Driving on Lines?

Does anyone have definitive evidence that recalibrating the cameras fixes the issue of FSD driving on or over the lines on a two-lane highway?
  45. PianoAl

FSD 12 perspective from a previous skeptic

This is a common occurrence for me plus driving on the yellow line in the center (rumble, rumble). If I were driving behind a car doing that, I'd consider calling 911. What I don't get: Coloring between the lines should be such an easy task for a computer, so why does this error happen?
  46. PianoAl

fsd 12.x consistently driving below speed limit!

I find that 12.3.3 is only marginally better. I'd probably still buy FSD, but I wouldn't be happy about it. There's a huge difference between having the car do all the driving and having to constantly check the speed and adjust it with the accelerator. The adjustment doesn't last, so it's back...

    Lower Subscription Price Coming?

Here's one reason I chose to subscribe rather than buy FSD for our second Tesla.
