Hey Tesla, would you really go broke if you offered service as good as BMW?

“Greetings, owner. I’m texting you to let you know that your phone GPS location indicates you’re at work. Since your average work day is 8.73 hours, I drove myself to get some bolts tightened at the local service center 1.74 hours ago while you were at work. I shall return and park myself before...

Hey Tesla, would you really go broke if you offered service as good as BMW?

As someone potentially in the market for a Tesla, I’m not sure I buy in to that assessment. You make the service issues sound minor. The cars are awesome - awesome enough that I’m still evaluating the trade off between a great car and bad customer service. But what I’m hearing here, in this very...

Hey Tesla, would you really go broke if you offered service as good as BMW?

May I ask which models? I’m in the market soon and considering used Model S, Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar. I’m enthralled with the Tesla tech but don’t need all of it. For example, AP would be fun but I don’t need it. I like the idea of little service theoretically needed on Tesla but I...

    Was the refresh 2014?

    The used market is confusing

Glad you mentioned this. I've been getting the impression that high-mile Teslas are very risky.

    The used market is confusing

Wait, where? I've been looking on Tesla's site and on Only Used Tesla | A Place Exclusively Dedicated To Buying And Selling Used Teslas When I look on Autotrader it's so overstocked with Caravan that are NOT local, maybe I missed local ones.

    The used market is confusing

THAT I was not aware of, so thank you. Wow, there sure is a lot to take in as a potential buyer.

I think we had this discussion. LOL, sorry, too much research, it's getting jumbled together.

    The used market is confusing

This is super disappointing. But isn't there still an advantage over private because at least Tesla will tack on some warranty? And how can they do that without inspection?

    The used market is confusing

Great feedback, thanks! Sounds like 2014 and later is key, due to build quality? What about mileage? At what level do I need to be concerned about the battery? And what about batterygate, do I have to be at a 75+ or is that whole thing overblown?

    The used market is confusing

I really don’t need a new car, I just want a Tesla LOL I’ve only just started to consider one. A great deal at $35K would be a no brainer. Maybe I’d go up to 40, 42 just to get a better car or other features. It’s hard to justify more just because I have an itch for a Tesla. I love the style of...

Need advice. Bought new S, probs and can't even get Tesla to talk on the phone

Although I’m much more concerned about service than I am fit and finish or small things that get fixed. The service experience seems to be frequently bad. I’m hoping to see some replies about good service experiences.

Need advice. Bought new S, probs and can't even get Tesla to talk on the phone

That’s such a valid point. Which is why I Hope in forums like this that some owners would post about their good experiences. Some have done that in this thread, so that’s a start.

Need advice. Bought new S, probs and can't even get Tesla to talk on the phone

As a potential buyer this scares the crap out of me. I've had my heart set on getting one and within 2 days of research all I see are service horror stories. And I was looking for a USED one. I'm still considering, despite all this. This was not what I was expecting as I started looking though...

    Getting by with only supercharging

I had pretty much written off buying one, living in a condo where I can't charge. So I went to the SC station 5 miles away and talked to a guy who lives in an apartment, and he just charges at the Supercharger once a week. My commute is 12 miles round trip, so that door is open for me as well...

Well that's a warm reception to a prospective buyer. I hope the sales people are equally so nice and helpful.

    The used market is confusing

There's a really good deal on their site now. It's complicated for me by the fact that I'll be ready to make a move within weeks but not today. Plus I still don't understand the feature set yet, and I'm pretty sure I'd incur the $2K delivery, which makes the deal less attractive. I probably...

    The used market is confusing

So would you still bite the bullet and go Tesla or would you now go private if you were purchasing used again? Also, that’s a lot of Tesla buying! Lol

    The used market is confusing

I would but I've read here that it's difficult to get anyone on the phone. I thought someone might have insight into the local market.

    The used market is confusing

Interesting. $2K is steep, plus all these posts about lack of inspection. I'm starting to understand why so many here say they love the car and hate the company. I'm getting that vibe already and I'm just a curious shopper.

    The used market is confusing

Uhh, WOW. Another point in favor of private. How come I never see any used in the TWO Arizona dealerships? I haven't been looking that long but it still seems kind of odd.

    The used market is confusing

I could live with that, as I don't drive a ton of miles (we're talking less than 120 per week). Seems like the warranty might be more important. But what I keep getting stuck on is that there should be very little maintenance anyhow so how much should I care? What are the most expensive risks...

    The used market is confusing

This raises a really important question. I was almost put off by the $2K delivery charge. Ouch! But they're unclear about when it applies, since it says "may apply". Anyone know the rules? I'm in Arizona and could drive to one of their 2 dealerships, but I never see a used listing from there...

    The used market is confusing

Good to hear of a good buying experience for a used model directly from Tesla. It was some the bad Great explanation, thanks! Their lack of truly doing that 70-point inspection is disappointing. And with private, you get to see if the car is cosmetically acceptable. But I think the warranty...

    The used market is confusing

Thanks for all the feedback. When people say Tesla no longer has CPO, what do they mean? They sell used vehicles that have a warranty and have been inspected. How is that different than their prior CPO program?

    The used market is confusing

I won't mind small fixes, assuming they're covered. Non-covered expenses seem like they could be costly. But with less moving parts, I'm hoping that's rare.

    The used market is confusing

Good input, thanks. I also want to confirm what you said about warrantees. I also want to understand what people mean about pre-refresh. What happened in the refresh? Does that mean stay away from the oldest models?

    The used market is confusing

So I’m in the market for a used Tesla and just joined this forum. I’ve been nervous to buy private party because of the warranty expiring, (depending on mileage) but if you buy from Tesla, they offer a 2 year warranty correct? But I’ve read so many horror stories here about Tesla selling used...

2014 P85 for sale, Still has some Warranty

I’m intrigued. But I’m new to Tesla, and hesitant about the high miles and what happens after warranty. Also, being in Arizona black interior is not my preference. But, I registered with the forum to reply. I have a lot to learn about Tesla’s however.
