Free Trial FSD, What DoYou Think About It?

There is a setting to put FSD in "Chill" mode. Try that if it is too aggressive for you. I still wouldn't pay $10,000 for it!

What is your highest solar production?

87.3 kWh in a day from a 10.15 kVA AC (11.6 kW DC) system. Peak continuous (15 minutes) output 10.26 kW AC

Upgrading wifi for Tesla - extender, new router, or both?

Any good WiFi AC, 6, or newer will likely perform better than an N or earlier router with a range extender. First, they have higher throughput from the start. Then, their beamforming antennae put the power where it's needed most. Since yours is AC2600 and you don't get the needed performance...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

Problem here is that many electronics - including PC power supplies - are certified and tested only to 63 Hz. Extended use at 70 Hz may cause them to fail.

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

Ask for 62 or 62.5 Hz so it doesn't trigger any UPS you may have installed. Computer power supplies are tested and certified to 63 Hz. Some old/cheap clocks that use phase synchronous motors will run a bit fast while the freq is raised.

    How to stop wipers

In the last couple weeks (2 software upgrades), the wipers have come on randomly even when OFF. Also, they do way too many sweeps after using the washers, even when switched OFF.

Tesla Extended Warranty - Worth it?

Has anyone actually had a failure that was covered under the extended warranty? What failed, and what would it have cost to repair without the warranty?

    Connect your Powerwall to Wi-Fi

It happens occasionally to me. I don't know the cause, but I usually reboot the router before I try a reconnect. I occasionally wonder if it's a function of the WiFi connection being redundant/inactive while wired Ethernet is active...

In 2023, who's making the best all-weather, all-season tires for the Tesla Model 3?

I have the DWS06+. I like them a lot. A bit quieter than the OEM Michelins and about the same efficiency. Les Schwab sells them.

How to login to pw+ as customer?

I've tried to change the password on my Powerwall/Gateway, but it always reverted after 1 login. In the app, go to Settings | My Home Info. Use your Tesla account e-mail address, and the last 5 digits of the serial number shown as the password.

Questions on Tesla Solar Inverter vs. Enphase Microinverters

I strongly recommend you install the battery backup from the start, even if it is less than you will eventually get. That is the ONLY way you can ensure everything will work together. Also, without the battery backup (& Tesla Gateway) installed, you cannot use your solar when the grid goes...

    Is this clipping?

My system is rated at 11,765 Watts DC, 10,325 W Peak AC and 10,150 W continuous AC. When brand new, I got a peak of 10,260 W; last month it was 10,024 W. This is in Seattle, with slightly less than ideal positioning. You should be able to get very close to your inverter's rated output in LA!

Need replacement tires Continental, Michelin, Hankook for Model 3 long range

I also went with the DWS06+. A bit quieter than the original Michelins, and no noticeable decrease in range.

Solar System Size vs Number of Powerwalls

IF you are counting on running the whole house on the Powerwalls for any length of time, there is no such thing as "too many". The only limitation guidelines are for a MINIMUM of 1 Powerwall for each 7 kW of solar output. 3 PW for 11 kW solar are definitely NOT too many. I have 10 kW and 2...

Questions on Tesla Solar Inverter vs. Enphase Microinverters

I have 10 kW of LG panels, Enphase microinverters, and 2 Powerwalls, installed by a local (Seattle) company. Initial install is a bit more expensive, but I think it's worth the peace of mind NOT having a single point of failure for the whole system. Also, when I wanted to expand, it was...

    System expansion after installation

My system uses Enphase microinverters, so adding panels and inverters to the current system was easy. The add-on panels work right along with the original panels.

Boy, do I have a lot of questions regarding adding a Powerwall to my existing Tesla Solar Panel system!

A single Powerwall may never give you the return you want, because it will not likely power the house long enough. IF you can work it so you no longer have to buy peak-rate electricity, you may actually get a positive return. Depending on your use, you may need 3 or more Powerwalls.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Why have you waited 3 years to get it checked out? Call the installer and ask if they will check the system. What does the output vs time curve look like on a sunny day? If it is flat (at 6.5 kW) for several hours, the inverter may be the problem. Otherwise, it could be any of several issues...

Anybody know a way to kill\lessen the upgrade nags?

FWIW, they have improved a lot since v11. They must have realized how bad it was only when they got the intense negative feedback. Since the car runs on software, there is no way to avoid updates permanently - and you probably don't want to...

How to correctly use the Vent windows feature?

My 2019 model keeps the windows at Vent regardless if I set them before getting out of the car or while standing next to it. Walk away lock does not affect them. I use it mostly on sunny days when the cabin overheat protection will kick in. Having the windows open a bit reduces the amount of...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

The UPS units do not have a "problem" - they are doing their jobs! The UPS is SUPPOSED TO protect against over- and under-voltage AND -frequency. The ATX power supply spec has a 63 Hz limit, so it is GOOD that the UPS cuts in at 65 Hz! My Powerwalls take less than a second to switch over, but...

Wall charger [should I keep the wall connector or use mobile connector for my situation?]

On a 50A circuit, the wall charger will deliver 40A to the Model 3. The 32A limit is only for the mobile charging cord. Your utility may have a rebate program for some wall chargers. I bought a ChargePoint charger that plugs into the 14-50. With the utility and federal rebates, total net...

    Electricity Cost Spikes

In WA the rate structure for net metering IS equitable. In fact, it is tilted toward those who do NOT produce their own power. I pay 53¢/day "minimum charge" for what you call T&D. A customer without solar pays 10¢/day. So I pay over 5 times what a non-solar customer pays for T&D. In the 5...
