    Software Update 2020.4.10.1 439420c5

This is only my second update. The first was as soon as I picked up my car about a month ago and there were several changes and release notes that said what was different. This past Friday, I received the update labeled, 2020.4.10.1 439420c5, but there doesn’t seem to be anything noticeable...

What did you name your Tesla?

Mine is "Gunter" after the Lost in Space robot who was a Class M3 Model B9 General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot. I figured since Gunter was a Class M3, it was a sign and I had to do it. Plus I liked the reference to Space - because SpaceX. And what sealed the deal for me...

    tesla hate.

In my experience, most people have a passive knowledge of the Tesla. Their primary source of information about the Tesla are headlines. The headlines have been so negative for several years as oil, legacy car manufacturers and short sellers tried to discredit the company and delay the inevitable...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Picked the car up yesterday! The wait was worth it and I love the car so far. I was surprised at the lack of fanfare put on at the Tesla Showroom. Not that I expected balloons and a marching band, but I did expect the store to be a busy place - it wasn't. I also expected the person conducting...

Received an email yesterday that the car is in town and asked if I could come in on Tuesday, 4 FEB for delivery.

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

As a follow up, the charger was installed today. Found reputable electrician who didn’t add in any Tesla tax. He ran 6/2 from my indoor panel on a 60 amp breaker. I ended up paying $750 - much better than the $5,000 and $989 prices I was quoted before.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

SR+ Black/Black 18" Aero Ordered 8 Jan, was told 4-7 weeks. On 23 Jan, text updating time-frame to 1-3 weeks On 28 Jan, received VIN and initial delivery appointment for 7 FEB I'm hoping for a call to schedule an earlier than expected delivery appointment. If not, it's just a week to go and...

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

I totally agree with you. I can do this just fine, I just didnt want to run it in the wall myself - not because I can't, but because I didn't want to spend the time/effort of running it in the wall. I may just give up on an electrician and run it in conduit myself. It's literally 4 ft from...

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

you’re right. 20’ of 6/3 is what is needed.

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

Sounds like you overpaid for yours and are trying it justify it with my estimate.

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

You have many of your facts wrong. It’s not an outdoor outlet for one; however this isn’t worth discussing with you, unless you’re going to chip in and pay part of it. It was a friendly discussion you’ve turned into an argument. Bottom line is you don’t know what you’re talking about.

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

Not sure what set you off - you seem sensitive. Was it you that gave me that quote? :) Maybe this will help. I mis-quoted the price, you’re numbers are right. The bottom line is this is a 20’ run and I’m just having him install a NEMA 14-50. The parts are cheap and the labor is max 3 hours...

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

There is no "absolute minimum" they have to charge. Additionally, there are no permits required for this where I live. I had 2 floodlights (wires ran and installed) for less than $200 two years ago. I have the skill-set to do this and I know how much the parts would cost me (<$100), I just...

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

Good tactic. I should add that I’m a disabled veteran and the $4,990 price included a “military discount” Needless to say, I pretty much kicked him out of the garage. I told him we were no where close to my expectations and his price seemed more like a “I-don’t-want-to-do-this-job” price.

    Tesla makes electricians see $$

I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced being overcharged for work related to their Tesla. I am trying to get an outlet installed before my car arrives in a few weeks. I have already ordered the charger from Tesla and I can install it myself at the wall, but I’m not comfortable adding...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Ordered the SR+ black/black 18” on 8 Jan. My original timeframe was 4-7 weeks. I got the same text you guys just got with an updated time of 1-3 weeks. I’m in San Antonio area. They must be pumping out the SR+ right now.

How soon before I apply for financing?

Several banks offer longer than a 30 day approval period. I ordered my M3 SR+ on 8 Jan and got a loan approval the next day that is good for 90 days (I'm in Texas and it was RBFCU). Hopefully, i don't run past that approval period before I get my car (my waiting period is listed as 4-7 weeks)...

Just Ordered - What do you wish you'd known?

Very good suggestions and insight. I appreciate everyone's thoughts on this. I'm in South Texas (San Antonio area) and plan on getting the car tinted fairly quick after delivery because the July/Aug/Sep sun here can be brutal. So that brings me to sun shades. Does anyone here use them? If...

    Texas License Plates

I ordered a M3 SR+ on 8 Jan. I do not have a VIN and my expected delivery is 4-7 weeks. On 13 Jan, I got a text from Tesla rep asking for a copy of my plates and former registration on Monday (I have DV plates and already have my plates from my old vehicle). However, today, I got another text...

Just Ordered - What do you wish you'd known?

I placed an order for a Model 3 SR+ on Jan 8th. I ordered it with black on black and FSD. In just a couple of days of research I've come up with a list of "must haves" that I will have purchased and ready add to my car when I get it. They are: 1. Floor Mats Note: Debating on LaserTech vs...
