2013 MS 60 Battery Failure, have 85 pack: How to swap?

Thanks Ray. me and glhs I believe have met. I think at one of my EV Parties I host yearly. Recell is currently best option for out of warranty pack replacement, just replacing straight up. Mr. Erickson in Iowa would be ideal for you to send both you car and the battery to have it swapped and...

    Tesla releases New Yoke

Sounds like breach of warranty to me. Not a lawyer, maybe one can chime in? However, the remedy would be either timely repair, or they would be financially responsible for loss of enjoyment of the warranted product. Could always file with your state for non-compliance.

All the Issues... Completely Undrivable at the Moment

I had this EXACT issue after going through a carwash with my 2016 MS. Only, upon exiting the carwash, the car "went into neutral" and was free rolling. Rebooting screens etc... did nothing, powered doors did not work, nothing powered was functional. Headlights stuck on etc... I did not have my...

Clarity around CAC imbalances, voltage imbalances, bad bricks, and battery warranty - 2015 90D

It's changed a few times over the years, Not sure what the current shutdown voltage is, however, I'm seeing approximately 2.5v as a hard limit under load. I'd guess when it cannot sustain 2.5v per cell under any load/circumstance, thats when it will shut down. Without doing it myself, which I...

Clarity around CAC imbalances, voltage imbalances, bad bricks, and battery warranty - 2015 90D

The buffer is capacity that is not accessible to the driver. Your BMS's capacity calculation was just off. Once the car shuts down, that 4kWh buffer, is what is still left in the pack AFTER shutdown. This is to prevent the battery from being bricked if not immediately charged after shutdown. IF...

Tesla Service - Getting worse by the day....and weirder

While I wouldn't recommend posting the contact info publicly, as then they will get inundated with every little complaint possible, what is the first name of your areas regional? I'm curious if it's the same as the Midwest (if the one I dealt with is even still the Regional here). Midwest was...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

Finally updated Saturday(was really holding off especially until after a road trip which we had to cancel due to 3 sick kids...), I see no operational differences on my AP1 after 1000 miles. Definitely will NOT be upgrading my FSD MX though for the time being. Either way, I'm not thinking they...

How many miles on original battery ?

Sure were different times back then. I actually miss the original Model S cup holders. Your 2012 should have them. They have the little fingers that grab and hold you cup still to keep it from wobbling or bouncing. Might pull them out my 2012 and put them in my 2016. Haven't decided yet...

2016 Model X P90DL-- Covered under battery warranty?

My 2013 Model S, got a replacement battery covered by warranty when the contactors failed. This was a while ago, 2014 or 2015 I believe.

Tesla supercharger bay damaged my Model S and Tesla refused to help

I don't see this being a Tesla Issue. The stop appears to be a fairly small one. Ive never had issues with the same. Next, there seems to be a pothole that you pulled in to in the lot. That would be up to the lot owner to repair/maintain. The pothole is visible. You should have seen it, or at...

Mine before doing it for the video was so bad, autopilot wouldn't even work, as it thought I was taking over the steering wheel, as well as my wife could no longer turn the wheel. Did it like shown in the video, sprayed it once more since, and still smooth as butter. That was 3 years ago.

One other option is to request the regional managers information. They MUST provide it. See if that gets you anywhere. Im reaching out to the Milwaukee Service manager to see if she can shine some light on the upgrades. Will let you know if/when I hear back.

Cost to Enable SuperCharging on 2014 MS60?

#OldTimer Go in your Tesla App, near the bottom it will have a 'upgrades" menu. Are there any Upgrades available in there? The car already has the HARDWARE for supercharging. All Teslas (minus original roadsters) have the HARDWARE. 85's came with it activated. "40's" were not allowed to be...

    Upper Control Arms

Yes, cheap sub-200, but is it really when they are replacing bad parts with bad parts? It's just going to happen again, and again, and again until they start putting enough grease in these parts.
  26. islandbayy

    Upper Control Arms

If you have air suspension, raise it to max. You can still do it if you have coil, though it will be a little more difficult. No, not motor oil. Specific grease. Watch video, links to what grease to purchase in description box of video.
  27. islandbayy

    Upper Control Arms

Worst case, the greasing doesn't help and you replace the ball joint. It was more expensive when I made the video, costs have come down. Best case, You spend $20-30 on materials, and you have the tools, and enough grease, to grease around 30-40 Tesla's control arms. Either way, the squeak...

    Upper Control Arms

Links to the grease and products needed in video description. Tesla will not grease the joint. If they replace it, it will just happen again. Since greasing, no issues in 60,000+ miles. If you do it soon enough after the squeaking starts, the joint should be just fine. Unless you get an...

    Acceptable cell imbalance range?

No need to disconnect the 12v battery, that will not reset the BMS. In the service menu, there should be an option for "reset bms". I know the option is present on MCU2 (even MCU1 upgraded to MCU2 vehicles) though I do not know what the menus look like on MCU1. Look there first. I believe you...

    Acceptable cell imbalance range?

Thanks for coming back with an update. Do I think the software can handle this problem? For the long run? No. My personal (and others) belief was that it was a stop-gap measure to get battery pack out of warranty period. If it is indeed the issue, you COULD open the pack, and swap out a BMS...

    Alignment and air filter =$1000?

MX has 2 filters, the HEPA Cabin Filter is behind the glove box, and exceedingly cheap. The Biohazard filter is under the frunk and expensive. The Filter shown in the estimate says Cabin filter. I bought the filter from tesla service for about $15. On amazon they are less than $20. Generic...

    Alignment and air filter =$1000?

Cabin filter takes about 3 minutes to replace, and less than $20 for DIY; the Bio Filter is about $350-400ish. DIY for that is about 80 with aftermarket filter. Alignment in Milwaukee Service, is about $250

To speak to the regional manager, you may request the contact information from the service center. They are REQUIRED to give it to you! They can be fired if they do not. They usually, will, however, try and tip toe around and not provide that information. Be persistent!

Do I have a Biohazard filter AND a cabin air filter?

Tesla Service charged me only about $10 for the cabin filter OTC. I installed myself, takes about 10 minutes. Was a no brainer as I was replacing the front HVAC blower anyways. They used brushed motors, unfortunately, and I wore out the brushes. Non-Replaceable brushes :-( M3 and MY use...

Model X adjustable rear camber kits - anyone with UK experience, is it worth the cost/hassle?

Did it on my model s. I could "live" with the factory camber being off, and non adjustable. Though no happy about it with the poor tire wear. However, we got T-Boned on the Illinois Tollway (Freeway). Which, actually tweaked the rear enough where the passenger side camber corrected slightly...

Test drove 2016 Model S P100D; Surprised by sluggish acceleration and weak regenerative braking.

As others had said, Cold battery, and to a lesser degree, cold motors. Further, adding to the "FEEL" of the cars, the Model 3 is coniderably lighter weight than the Model S (Any Model S). It can make it "Feel" slower, in some instances, especially when cold, however, make no mistake, with both a...

    Gen 1 UMC, 2021 Model S

I would be too. The Gen 1 was fine for the long term if you turned the amperage down to 32 or less. I went through a LOT of them (Burned out) before I figured that out. Using the 40 amp only when I NEEDED it. The heat build up was too great. Since I started turning the amperage down, I haven't...

    Gen 1 UMC, 2021 Model S

No gen 2 until about 2018. They did a recall/replacement on the 14-50 adapters. The replacement had a thermistor in it as they were overheating due to poorly wired 14-50 outlets. No recall on Gen 1 UMC's themselves. Possibly they eventually replaced it with a Gen 2, if your vehicle was under...

Signature Model X battery and range concerns in Oregon

I should add, on top of range mode, Tesla's recommended tire pressure is personally, downright low, and feels like driving on a flat. These cars are heavy. For 11 years and 450,000 miles, I've been doing 50psi all the way around in winter, and in summer 48 front 50 rear (as the car exhausts the...
