Lucky you. That's kind of counter to the 'East to West' mantra that we've been hearing. Clearly west coast delivery times are shorter but I'm 9 days past my VIN date and still waiting.

I had the same problem so I bought a 6-50 that I plan on using for home (requires one less wire) since I don't plan on putting a dryer in my garage. When the 14-50 came back into stock, I bought one of those to carry on the road.

The earliest available time here is 11am. I'd be there at 7am if it were an option.....

I was doing the same thing......just about every time I had a chance. It would be kind of nice to know if there's a specific time of day they assign VINs. Since mine showed up on a Sunday, it doesn't seem to be a manual process.

Sure, but I suspect that space is not extremely large so they probably try to optimize that out of the process as well.

So I'm curious. The text I received on 2/18 states "Your Model 3 is in transit and ready to be scheduled for delivery" but yet the earliest delivery I could schedule is 3/5 which is 12 business days away from the text. That seems like a lot to traverse the required distance which Google Maps...

Just scheduled my delivery. 3/5/20, exactly 6 weeks from the text that said "Delivery in 1-6 weeks" so grand total of 61 days from order to delivery if delivery stands as scheduled.

Any VIN date that's beyond your original stated estimate is just wrong IMO. I wonder what kind of pressure it would take to change the "You'll get your car when you get it" attitude? Will Elon's bonus bubble need to burst before they stop focusing on fitting as many deliveries as possible into...

Finally got a VIN today. 6 weeks and 1 day after ordering. Original delivery estimate was 4-7 weeks. Hopefully that means that there's light at the end of the tunnel!

At the point the insurance option should be available. As others have stated, you do not need the Telsa VIN to be on the insurance card in spite of what the web page states.

The guy said that even that 'Buy this specific car' would go through the local match process so they wouldn't necessarily get that car which is very odd.

Yeah, I asked the same thing......."Why wasn't I given this VIN rather than putting it into inventory?" to which the response was something to the effect of "they go into inventory before getting a local match" which just seems silly and borderline misleading.

Right? The only difference between the one in inventory and my order is FSD but that should be an easy fix. I just don't understand why it would even appear in inventory if it's a small tweak away from an ordered config in the local store.

I agree, if they had been more truthful up front about the wait time, I may have reconsidered ordering or waited until more convenient time of the year when I could live more easily without a car.

Just double the estimate....that's probably a more realistic expectation. Or you could wind up getting it in a couple of days like some other folks on the spreadsheet. There just seems to be no logical explanation as to why some deliveries are so fast and others are so much longer. Just hope...

I wouldn't classify getting your Model 3 within the original Estimated Delivery time as "wanting it now" but rather "wanting it when we were told it would be delivered"
