AP Doesn't work if the caravan icon is blue, but if you turn off trailer mode manually and the icon is orange then AP does work, though the visualization shows red lines as it thinks you're very close to something. At least is does with my USS Model Y

Had my first go with manually disabling trailer mode. I do get the orange caravan but it has a panic when I reverse, so it's not smart enough to know that something is attached and in the way even though it's not being towed.

Yes, that probably is the reason, the manual implies the key does come out as it tells you to replace the dust cover on the key cylinder. Looks a bit like they copied the model 3 manual and didn't update the removal instructions.

Finally found a video on YouTube that is the Euro style hitch: which shows how to get the key out, shame it doesn't describe it in the manual.

I had mine done this week too, I heard something rattling too but thought it was the passenger seatbelt. I also had to run the seat/steering wheel calibration thing as the steering wheel position wasn't restoring from the profile correctly.

T They haven't actually fitted it as there wasn't much point with the module as I wouldn't be using it without electrics. I wouldn't be happy with third party electrics spliced into the cabling, pretty sure Tesla could use it to wriggle out of any electrics related warranty claims.

I've just picked mine up after the failed fit, and now there is are 2 bits missing. Wonder what else they forgot to put back on.

It's annoying as you can't order the towbar until you have possession of the car. So presumably Tesla know when it was made and so could either prevent you from ordering it, or warn that an extra part is required before it can be fitted.

My MY is in Reading for tow fitting and they've just phoned up to say the control unit in MY built after 28 March hasn't been fitted due to the chip shortage. They are going to get the part but they don't know how long it will be...

Initially you couldn't add a tow hitch at time of ordering, you can only order once the car is delivered. Now you can add one when ordering, so presumably for orders due Q3 onwards they have capability to add in the factory so are offering it to be added. Probably cheaper to fit in the factory...
