Would you please post a photo of the source of 12v constant power in the harness that feeds the nearby assembly? What possible good could the two wires feeding the mirror be without power? Is it possible that it might have power only under certain conditions?

Or can be used with a detector like the Uniden R3 that has the option in the configuration to shut itself off or even if you remember to power it off.

Please let me know if you get this to work (either with constant or intermittent power). This is my preferred approach if it works.

Do you happen to know if that power going to the mirror is constant or intermittent? I can deal with it either way but prefer an intermittent source that is only on when the car is fully on.

I have read that particularly Acura and Honda cars interfere with radar detectors. Now some detectors including the Uniden R3 can filter out those signals to avoid false triggering.

The R3 has an auto off option that you can configure if its wired to a constant power source. It will sense no movement for30 minutes and shut the detector down. You can also just power it down manually. Better is to find a power source that is on only when the car is on.

I was going to go cordless until I saw a review on Vortexradar.com. Apparently cordless detectors dont have the performance of the hardwired detectors.
