    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

It's funny I took delivery today and I also had those green tapes near the right windows. I just took them off.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Same also in SoCal I got a text this morning saying my Tesla would be build in the next two days and delivery is scheduled for Dec 27th. They want to drop it off at my house though but I won't be there, I have to call them...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

If it's like my first lease I believe you could have just called the factory, say that you saw a car in their inventory and want this one to be assigned to you.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Same and I ordered on Oct 28th. But I don't understand, look here: New & Used Electric Cars | Tesla If you go down there are 2021 Model 3's, even some with my exact configuration. I'm pretty sure if you call the Fremont Factory you can ask them to assign you a car. So I really don't know what...

Hmm. I'll email my SA tomorrow morning to ask for clarification, thanks.

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

The "expected delivery date" has been removed from my account. Ordered on Oct 28th First delivery estimate Dec 9th - Dec 23rd Second delivery estimate Dec 9th - Dec 30th Third delivery estimate Dec 9th - Dec 31th And now nothing. Anyone know what's up? I've been reading the last few pages, it...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

Has any of you in California recently received a VIN or something with the new $1,500 Clean Fuel Reward applied? I ordered mine in late October, have yet to receive a VIN (estimated delivery 12/9 - 12/30), and I still don't have the clean fuel reward applied (whereas I've seen people get it?).

    $1,500 California Clean Fuel Reward

I confirmed my loan on Nov 3rd, I don't see the rebate in my account. I emailed the sales person in charge of my order since the beginning, he told me the rebate would automatically apply at the moment of delivery.

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Jesus Christ. You must be so incredibly annoying in life. Braking and turning at the same time is not braking to notify me there's danger, I don't call that braking, stop playing on words. As for my friends, I think I know better how they are doing? I said no one injured because no one went to...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Dude. It braked and changed lane at the same time, I don't call that braking. But fine if you want to feel better: I'm 100% at fault, was too close, didn't see the pickup brake for the .01 sec it did, didn't react as fast as a computer would have, and you would totally would have avoided the...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

I have no doubt that if I hadn't been in a Tesla I wouldn't have come out of this without any injuries. Basic auto pilot engaged yes.
  12. C

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Besides an early braking no. I remember the car beeping like crazy too.
  13. C

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Wow that video, it's exactly what happened to me (I'm the car crashing, and the Tesla avoiding the stopped car last minute was the pickup in front of me). FSD is incredible.
  14. C

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

The car behind me had less distance with me than I had with the pickup, it braked when it saw me braking, and didn't hit me. So yes.
  15. C

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

No worries. Yes I was probably too close considering a pickup was blocking my view, and that I was heavy. I just wanted to say that I am sure that 99% of people in my situation would have not avoided the crash (considering the same distance, which was the same as everyone on the freeway). I...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

I removed the video before you could see, but the car was already at a stop. The pickup in front of me didn't brake, changed lanes, and left me with the car at a full stop. I didn't see anyone breaking.

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Leasing company is Tesla. I put $12K down payment. They calculated that the pay off amount was $34K. Insurance total loss settlement was $45K. I got back the difference between the two numbers.
  18. C

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Yes. I probably should have avoided accident details. As for insurance yes in the end I am happy. It was just extremely stressful because very slow and unsure of how this all works in lease situation (especially with a big down payment).

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

133 feet to stop? Stopping Distance Calculator With 1 sec reaction time going at 60 it says 260 feet here. Plus AP braked as soon as it saw it, didn't stop from crashing. I'm not really asking for anything actually, I just made this thread to share my experience with Tesla Insurance, from...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

I said fair for that, my bad. I bought a new one yes. I removed the video, it's not going to bring anything to the conversation (this was enough of a trauma to have people say it's all my fault and that everyone would have just avoided the crash). moderator note: removed link to video, as...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

Fair for the thread in the summer. For the rest, be honest for a second. Do you *always* look 5 cars in front of you if any of them are abruptly changing lanes, especially if the car in front of you is absolutely not doing anything? As for the left lane, you are wrong. I have the left camera...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

The guy in the Hyundai was fine (surprisingly fine, a few seconds after the crash he got out of his car, went to my window, asked if we were cool, and then started taking pictures, as if it was his 10th accident). I was on autopilot, it started breaking first, I braked even more as soon as I...

My experience with Tesla Insurance after destroying my leased Model 3 in a freeway accident

On Thursday, Sept 17th I was involved in a car accident on the freeway. My car was a Model 3 Blue SR+ with white interiors. I couldn't do much. Car started catching on fire 5 seconds after the crash (likely because I had an external battery and airpods in the frunk). We were three in the...

SR/SR+ (Model 3 RWD) Waiting Room

I really wonder why delivery is currently 4-8 weeks when they have so many cars in inventory. Even the most basic model is 4-8 weeks. Is it because from now on all the new models are 2021 models?

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I just received an email from Tesla Insurance and I don't understand it. They said this: A payoff will be calculated based on the date of loss. You are not responsible for payments after the date of loss. The insurance will be provided the letter of guarantee including the payoff amount. Once...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Exactly, if I was in any other car I *certainly* wouldn't have got out of it with no injuries.
  27. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I have no idea, but as soon as the pickup changed lanes and the stopped car was in sight the car started beeping like crazy and the autopilot braked.
  28. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

You forgot the 30 feet distance between each white line. But I'm scared of showing the video when the case hasn't been resolved yet. Wouldn't that be a problem?
  29. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

No (I mean they didn't say anything). I made my claim, explained in details to the police officer what happened. Then another came, and told me "you have a Tesla, didn't it record everything?", I said yes everything's on the USB key. So we went in the cop car, he plugged it in and we all watched...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

No I get it. Next time I'll leave 10 white lines between me and the front vehicle.
  31. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

From the insurance side? Maybe. Everyone I showed the video told me I couldn't have done anything and it wasn't my fault. It's the pickup's fault who wasn't looking at the road. Because in this case, I'll just go on the freeway, and everytime the person in front of me brakes I won't brake...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Insurance did say: As it relates to the total loss we pay the actual cash value of the vehicle. The Actual cash value of your vehicle is determined by the market value, age, mileage and the condition of your vehicle at the time the loss occurred But again, Tesla's Model 3 2020 with 1200 milage...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I won't show the video here, but trust me, I was going slower than most and had 3 full white lanes with the pick up in front of me (and I was looking straight ahead). But that pickup wasn't looking in front of him, didn't saw the car in front of him slowing down (it must have brake for at least...
  34. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Insurance finally responded back to me, saying: The actual cash value of your vehicle is determined by the age, market value, mileage & the condition of your vehicle at the time the loss occurred. The money will go to your lienholder first and if there is any excess the remaining balance comes...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Thank you, that's THE simple explanation for 5 years old that I needed (not kidding, this makes sense to me, finally). So if insurance doesn't **ck me up and give back a reasonable price for the Model 3 to Tesla (which i would hope, 3 months/1200 miles and that's a TESLA, I know they don't...
  36. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Some others have said I would get a part of the down payment. You know what I'm ****ing lost, I don't know what to think and my head hurts. I don't understand why putting a big down payment is screwing me so much. Next time I'll put $1K, crash the car the next day and GAP insurance will cover...

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I don't know what I can say because I don't want anything to be returned against me. But so far it's an absolute clusterfuck. I cannot get the person in charge on the phone, I always get voicemail. Since Friday early morning I've sent 3 emails of high priority, no response.
  38. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Oh I certainly don't. That's my first car, I'm 25 (and not even American, even if I'm good in English the lexical vocabulary of all that stuff is new and complicated). I certainly wanted to put less but Tesla wouldn't trust me. I will definitely bump this thread when I have news, thanks again.

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I trust you, but gosh this is so confusing. I see. Thanks for your other post by the way, very informative.

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I called Tesla Insurance, give the guy my policy number and he told me I don't have it.
  41. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Are you sure? Because the guy told me I don't have it (but again he didn't seem very informed of how Tesla lease works).
  42. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

I called Tesla Insurance and I do NOT have gap insurance. I told the guy I had no choice when taking the insurance, he told me "yeah you can't do it online you have to call, because we don't know if Tesla gave you a new lease or not etc.". So why the hell tesla.com shows this?
  43. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Thank you for giving me a bit of hope man, I'm on the verge of depression right now. Insurance did ask for the lease contract to see the options (it was just a SR+ blue with white interiors that's it, full price $41K I believe?). But then sorry I don't understand, why would they give me back a...
  44. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

It says "declined" on my insurance page, but I know for sure I didn't decline it and probably wouldn't have been able to anyway (and the Tesla website it says it's included indeed). The maths is this: It's a 24 months lease, without an option to buy because you can't buy Model 3 at the end of...
  45. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

But. I don't even want the down payment back in cash (because in this case it would indeed be a problem), I just want a new car from Tesla. Tesla will get $40K back (whatever the car is worth), my question is why wouldn't they give me a new car? Are you telling me that my down payment vanished...
  46. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

The lane just next to the car pool. Problem is absolutely no one is responding, neither the person who is in charge of my case nor Tesla themselves.
  47. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Yeah when I say concrete wall it's more like a metaphore, it was just a stopped car. Of course not as hard as a wall (plus it moves). And I started braking before too so I don't know I maybe hit it at 45 or something.
  48. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

Yes I leased it directly to Tesla. I didn't have the choice to add auto loan/lease gap on the Tesla Insurance (they pre-set it for you and I couldn't modify anything). But so, my down payment is really gone?
  49. C

I had a car crash and freaking out regarding the next steps

They offer me a rental but I'm honestly too concerned about this all thing I don't even want or care to drive until this is sorted out. Plus I'm just astonished by how bad the service is, it took them 4 days to call me back to actually hear my claim. They respond to me once every 48h by email...
