I have this same issue. I have put a piece of foam between the metal and the top coving part that wraps around the latch part and that seemed to help a bit but not completely gone. I need to mess with it some more.

Lol I bought it from the dealership that way. They are on the list to replace with new wheels maybe.

Not really. Car actually seems to stay cleaner. I did get chemical guys matte soap and detail spray but I’ve tested some turtle wax ceramic hybrid spray on a scrap piece and it looks fine. Will keep posted.

Yes I used 3M automotive tape. Its not going anywhere. Clean the where the tape in going with rubbing alcohol and you will be good. I did end up moving mine more towards the center bottom to keep my leg from hitting it.
