Supercharger - Hollywood, CA (under construction Sep 2023, 32 stalls + diner)

Maybe the excavation will unearth another mammoth or dire wolf in the tar pits and Elon will make it a centerpiece of the restaurant as a monument to his superiority?!
  2. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Fairbanks, AK

Brutal, huh? He calls out the Elon cultists and the transphobics and that's what he gets in return? Tough crowd anymore. It does make more sense that it'd be at 3 Bears since they very likely have a corporate MOU at this point. This gives me hope that Tok (shown on one of Teslas recent voting...
  3. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

Guessing this is by design since you're not going to hit the pedestal with them being on the side. This would enable snow plowing to push the pile back on to the grass.
  4. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

This looks like a way smarter design for snowy climates? Push it straight to the back instead of asking the plow driver to side swipe or, worse yet, just push a pile up against the SC? Obviously also better for towing.
  5. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Valleyview, AB

    North to Alaska!
  6. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Girdwood, AK

If 3p doesn't run down the Alyeska Hwy but instead goes east-west across old Girdwood on Lindbald Ave, guessing they'd run a line down Holmgren Place to the SC site (~400 ft)? I've not looked at the town Comprehensive Plan to see where else they note would benefit from future development near...

    Supercharger - Girdwood, AK

So does Tesla usually have to foot the bill for 3-phase power upgrades or is it being covered by the utility? I wonder how far they need to come, in this case? That sounds like it could take a while. Also somewhat interesting that Chugach Electric is forging ahead with new approvals with such a...
  8. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Kalispell, MT (under construction Apr 2024, 12 V3 stalls)

CCS adapters are like Naloxone in Alaska. Take 'em or die. Likely to be the case for a while to come.

Alaska Highway Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

I used a 150kW Freewire battery-supported charger the other day in 0F temperatures and only pulled about 15kW (yes, my battery was preconditioned). This makes me wonder how 50kW chargers on the Alcan-Cassiar would perform in similar weather? Do all of these proposed BC sites have 3-Phase power...
  10. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Soldotna, AK

This site is indispensable on the peninsula. Did our first drive to Homer this weekend and rolled into here each way with 3% in 6-10F temps. Brutal 35 mph headwind with a rocket box on top crushed my range even further. Had never seen a high wind message on the NAV before this!! Needed an extra...
  11. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Trapper Creek, AK

I’ve tried a little bit. These towns are so small their public-facing IT infrastructure is basically non-existent. Better off calling the department directly.
  12. alpinehijinx

Alaska Highway Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

So, is it somewhat an open question as to whether the Alcan or the Cassiar gets fully electrified first? Obviously guessing the former but, with the progress BC is making on both fronts, maybe the race is on?? Now if only AK would get their act together and build out more than just the Anchorage...
  13. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Valleyview, AB

The CCS charger in Tok is 25kW and by appointment only (shared with the local school bus). Not nearly as available or reliable as the Flo chargers in the Yukon. We need better.
  14. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Leavenworth, WA - US-2 (LIVE 30 Oct 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

Squirrel Tree has a real nice bar and the 59'er Diner is only a 2-minute walk away. This is great for people who are towing or are in Lake Wenatchee/Plain for the weekend and want to avoid Der Madness. Or if you're hypermiling downhill and just don't trust the 3% the NAV says it'll consume all...
  15. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Huntington Beach, CA - Golden West Plaza (permit, 32 posts)

Makes me wonder if Tesla just sometimes files multiple permits in hopes of getting at least one through the approval process, without the intention of actually always building so much redundancy? That might make sense across municipalities but not sure if that idea holds water within the same city?
  16. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Kalispell, MT (under construction Apr 2024, 12 V3 stalls)

Two years ago we drove to Whitefish/Kalispell/Glacier. Wanted to drive back through Eureka and along Lake Koocanusa to go climbing. BF has a ChargePoint CCS but at the time it was impossible to get the adapter without buying through the S Korean vendor. Instead, we tried to overnight at an RV...
  17. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Las Cruces, NM

Not an ignorant question. But mostly taking it on faith because it's Marco! I think he's able to see more permit detail than is shown on the screenshot.
  18. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Yakima, WA

I always thought--maybe incorrectly--that when there's a bathroom icon listed on the NAV for that SC that Tesla had arranged for restroom use with the business owner?
  19. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Leavenworth, WA (LIVE Jul 2018, 16 V2 stalls)

Just noticed that Tesla now seems to show a second SC location in Leavenworth. And with a Q3 target opening date, this suggests it'd be a fairly certain location at this point. Anyone know more?
  20. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Moab, UT - N Main St

Hmm, Alaska (again) doesn’t count as the US.
  21. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

No different than 10 years ago in the L48. Alaska is just that far behind in electrification. And we all know who still uses Facepalm for reasonable public discourse..... Tesla is thriving here. Pay these clowns no mind.
  22. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Quincy, WA

I believe GPUD is around $0.024 for commercial customers <500kwh? Just about the cheapest in the country.
  23. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Moab, UT - N Main St

Not much work happening in the storm today.
  24. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

Cabinets, pedestals and conduit installed, striped and ready-to-go, pending transformer delivery. Of course. Also, no progress on non-Tesla chargers beyond the foundations.
  25. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

MEA's service area includes the communities of Eagle River, Chugiak, and the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
  26. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

I think this is MEA territory, not Chugach?
  27. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

From Facedump. No transformer. Need to pull power and trenching. Going to be a while.
  28. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Tukwila, WA

Probably wise to have an integrated camera too….
  29. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

FINALLY approved. Not sure what the last holdup had been which took a few extra months? Someone should keep an eye out for construction happening real soon in the oh-so-short Alaskan summer.
  30. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

Where did you see or hear this? This is the only info I noticed in the ePlans portal: It sounds like you might know of some place to see progress on the CCS chargers supposedly being installed along the railbelt this summer? I'd like to see how far along they might be construction-wise to...
  31. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Kalispell, MT (under construction Apr 2024, 12 V3 stalls)

It’s truly baffling to me why Tesla would let another summer travel season to Glacier and the Flathead Valley go by without a SC? This, along with Omak, are glaring, egregious holes with plenty of businesses to proposition. But! Quincy! 🙄
  32. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

That's 191-miles which, especially in a wintry state, would be about double their target 100-mile distance between SCs. I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at another at the Talkeetna junction, along with another near Girdwood to shorten the 166 mile distance between Chugiak and Soldotna...
  33. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

Tesla has made the requested plan changes and it looks to be back in final review with the department. Their responses due by 4/20/22.
  34. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Superior, MT

Still gone on /findus but presumably people are charging? @corywright Is there any precedent for this?
  35. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

It looks like all of the prior issues have now been resolved and it's moving toward final review. Hopefully this gets issued and winter breaks soon and they can then get to digging!
  36. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

It looks like the SC will be near (North) Birchwood Loop Rd. just north of the gas station. Definitely easy-on easy-off AK-1. Three Bears is kind of a grocery store, liquor store, general goods store. It being Alaska, of course you can buy guns there too! 🤪
  37. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Chugiak, AK

@MarcoRP Should this site get its own unique page? I posted this on the "Alaskan Highway SC's" thread because it was easy. But technically that's AK-2/AK-4, which this is not on. Not sure what the protocol is but just a suggestion to track progress going forward. Those of us up here in the...

@MarcoRP @Chuq Permit under review for the second Supercharger in Alaska! Location: Three Bears, Chugiak, AK https://bsd.muni.org/Inspandreview/PermitInfo.aspx?apbldgkey=568414
  39. alpinehijinx

Supercharger - Chattanooga, TN - Hamilton Place

Really rather would see one closer to downtown, as the generic Tesla/findus map shows? I did a trip here recently in a Turo'd m3 and couldn't find an airBnB with a L2 charger. Fortunately, the TVA has decent ChargePoint coverage but I still had to walk a long way back-and-forth leaving it...
  40. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Sprague, WA

Cool. Subway, energy drinks, Funyons, electrons and cannabis. What a stop this will be! This could be indicative of forthcoming SCs along I-90 to relieve congestion? Montana is, of course, in need of the most attention in this respect.
  41. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Soldotna, AK

Currently shown as temporary closure on the NAV? Anybody been by?
  42. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Soldotna, AK

Just found out we're moving to Alaska next month. Realllllly looking forward to Soldotna opening soon now! Hoping that these L3 chargers are completed by next summer since they're likely to be done before the SC network expands anywhere else in the state beyond Soldotna? Though, that's also...

    Supercharger - Soldotna, AK

    2^3 and counting.....
  44. alpinehijinx

    Supercharger - Jasper, AB

Since the grid power SC stall input is shown rated for 350kW, what is the theoretical maximum output (despite the current 250kW limit)?
  45. alpinehijinx

Crossing the Montana Supercharger Desert; Any Generous HPC/HPWC owners along I-90?

Not that they have to be mutually exclusive of course, but I wonder if Tesla prioritizes working on new sites in conspicuous gaps/unserved areas or adding SCs to upgrade those areas already at capacity? Any insight or observations about which they seem to prioritize allocating resources toward...
