    Insurance in Canada - p3d

We pay $2,300 a year total for both EV's. 2020 Model 3 and a 2022 EV6. We are in SW Ontario. Just got my renewal 2 weeks ago with Wawanesa Insurance full coverage $500 deductible. I guess we are doing good.

Need to replace my all season and snow tires , what are folks using in Canada?

The Conti DWS06+ are great all season tires. Far better then the 18" OEM tires.

FSD beta 1-month trial in Canada

Totally agree. Although FSD has potential and is getting better. It has to be 99.999% perfect to be useful. A slightly better AP would be far more useful to me.

FSD beta 1-month trial in Canada

My daughter got in the car and panicked. She thought she somehow purchased FSD in the app. He life flashed behind her eyes.

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

You will most likely have to take a new road test. Unfortunately they will will treat you as a new driver and you will have very high rates for 5 years.

    How would you handle this...

Exactly how it should be. Stop the bottom feeders.

Model 3 Highland (Canada) Waiting room

Tesla is the best car to avoid having older technology. With full OTA upgrades to the latest features my 4 year old Tesla is not that much different than a new one today. I bought mine before all the price increases and then drops. Still paid less than buying one today.

    Supercharger - North Canton, OH

That makes more sense. Good idea.

    Supercharger - North Canton, OH

Why would they put a spot for handicap access? It would sit unused most of the time. Anyone capable of driving a car and getting out to plug in can use any of the stalls.

    Creaking noise (control arm again!)

It's true. Maybe the UK is the same but not in North America.

    Creaking noise (control arm again!)

The part numbers are different. One has a 54 in the part # the other has a 59 in the number. Left and right are different. They do sell more of one side as some people only replace one side. I would do both together but that is not always the case.
  12. C

    Creaking noise (control arm again!)

I is not uncommon for the L and R part to be different prices on car parts. It may have to do with the different number sold of the L and R. My daughters Hyundai Elantra had two different prices for L and R brake calipers.

First time buyer looking for advice: Used M3P

Both those models are pre heat pump versions also. That makes a big difference in winter range.

First time buyer looking for advice: Used M3P

"$7k in body parts replaced because of paint splatter" I call BS. No reason to replace parts for paint issues. Looks like accident damage and the body shop was creative in description to avoid CarFax accicent report. Both seem overpriced in the current market.

Value of 2018 Model 3 - Best way to deal with upgrade to model Y

What is asked on Autotrader has nothing to do with what the selling price will be. Many people/delaers are dreaming on the asking price.
  16. C

Value of 2018 Model 3 - Best way to deal with upgrade to model Y

I would say about 25K selling price. Trade-in will be about 17K
  17. C

    How would you handle this...

Unfortunately it is often very expensive if not impossible to but chargers away from convenient locations due to power supply availability.
  18. C

    How would you handle this...

That's why public charging should never be free. Make it more expensive than home charging and the problem goes away.
  19. C

    How would you handle this...

I would be at the point of air out of the tires on a regular basis. They will get the message fast.

    E-scooters stations at Superchargers?

For the very few who would ever use this it seems like a complete waste of money and resources. Charge at home before your trip.

BP Pulse Orders $100 Million worth of Superchargers for US Network

Some leave then to charge to 100% and leave them for extended periods of time once charging is complete.
  22. C

BP Pulse Orders $100 Million worth of Superchargers for US Network

We want them to be available for those who really need them but discourage those who just want free charging. I think we are going to $1.50 per hour. Our residential rates are between 10Cents and 18Cents per KWH (Depending on the plan selected). They are 6KW chargers.

    New headlights retrofit

That coding may disappear one day after a software update. Good luck.
  24. C

BP Pulse Orders $100 Million worth of Superchargers for US Network

Often it it is owners being cheap. We have 3-4 EV's that owners have home charging and walk multiple blocks to charge at our work chargers for free. It is such a problem we are issuing free Cards to staff and and activating the billing option for the public Jan 1st.

    Consequences for blocking EV chargers

A good way of getting your teeth knocked out.
  26. C

BP Pulse Orders $100 Million worth of Superchargers for US Network

Free supercharging should be limited to the superchargers online at the time of purchase. Free supercharger users are often abusing supchargers and using them for 100% of charging. Hopefully free supercharging gets eliminated soon.

Car being written off... FSD transfer possible?

FSD doesn't add much value on resale. Cars with and without sell at a very similar price.

Just ordered the CCS-1 adapter on the Canadian Tesla website

Is yours a direct plug in or do you need the adaptor(I.E. bundle of wires). Mine has a build date on June 2020 Model 3 not sure what I need.

    Tesla price drop in Canada

I bought mine in 202 before any of the price increases. I was at 48K after rebate including shipping.

    Tesla price drop in Canada

Anyone notice the 2K price drop on the Model 3 and Y in Canada? Nice to see prices dropping.

Anyone knows the Y AWD LR coming from China uses NCM or LFP battery?

LG batteries are lower power density. That's why the range is less than the Panasonic batteries.

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

Nuclear is the big question in other areas like Ontario. Although non carbon it has it's own challenges long term.
  33. C

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

I tried to make a business case for solar in Windsor (Even more sun). My conclusion was that electricity rates are still too low. When the big change will happen is once rates climb dramatically and solar cost continue to drop.

I don't think the grid will ever be 100% renewables.
  35. C

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

If you count the interest on 32K, payback is way over 7 years (or lost interest income just keeping 32K in the bank). Once the warranty expires you also have maintenance cost. Solar is tough to justify in Ontario. You will also find the panels degrade over time.

    Canada Waiting Room

No change to HW4. Still HW3.
  37. C

Just ordered the CCS-1 adapter on the Canadian Tesla website

CCS chargers with the NAS plug will still require the upgrade to older Tesla cars. The CCS communications will be needed to activate the chargers. Older cars can not do this communications that's why they need to upgrade.

    New SC rates in Ontario

desire to make more money. Non Tesla's are going to in for a big surprise with the even higher rates.

Just ordered the CCS-1 adapter on the Canadian Tesla website

With the model S it does. I suspect the same with the model 3.

The retrofit include the adaptor. You might have 2.

    New SC rates in Ontario

Looks like Tesla increased the SC rates in Ontario to 60 cents per KW. In 2020 I could charge my SR+ for $6-$7. Now it's $25-$30 and keeps going up. Getting close to gas prices. Glad I don't travel much in Ontario.
  43. C

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

Well looks like Tesla switched. Rates are now 60 cents per KW in Ontario. Makes gas look cheap.

    Supercharger - Rossford, OH

Interesting, some of the new sites seem to have chargers more to the center then right at the edge on the stalls.
  45. C

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

The higher rates from 4 - 9 will cost more than any savings after 11pm for EV charging. We will stay on standard TOU and charge after 7pm like we do now.
  46. C

Ontario overnight ultra low rate announced

Wouldn't it make more sense to just apply the lowest cost plan each month based on actual usage? That would encourage you to use more off peak power times and less peak times. It makes no sense for us even though we charge 2 EV's to set our charging time to ULow times since the on-peak rates are...

    Canada Waiting Room

I ordered mine at: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/1102192460?spm=a2g0o.detail.0.0.713a2cfeK3xwRO Seem to be the same ones everyone is selling. Good quality and inexpensive. I bought mine because my former daughter curbed one of my wheels.
  48. C

Sharing a free public charger.....just kind of a rant.

This is why free charging should not exist. Those who realy need them will pay and those why are just being cheap won't tie them up.
  49. C

Why Tesla trade-in price extremely low?

I think these days ICE vehicles have a much higher value that EV's.

They will insure the car but FSD is not covered.
