So just to sum up my experience...bought new Gen 3...got the three red lights with ramp down of charging rate...got a replacement unit...did not get three red lights but cord so hot that it blistered and and bubbled...sent it back and got a Gen 2...so far so good with that unit and not expecting...

In my opinion, they made the cable too thin to try and make it more convenient and save weight, but they went too far and it can’t handle the load.

Not sure what to say...the cord was definitely hot, not warm, but I didn't measure the temperature. There are now perhaps half a dozen places along the cord where it is deformed or blistered or wavy. I have the longer cord version of the GEN 3, 18' I think, and generally the deformations are...

Yikes...take it back...although the charger did not cut back, I see the cord got so hot that it literally blistered in several places. Ugh. Scary.

Got my replacement unit. Ran battery down and charged for four hours at full 48 A...unit and cord got quite warm/hot, but no overheating or amperage cutback so all good.

That's a good news story, but if you are only using a 50 A breaker vs 60, then probably not a good test for the rest of us.

Great update Rob...just got my replacement unit today. Quite fiddly to remove the four old screws and put the new ones in, but did it. Charged for 2+ hours at 48A no problem, but on the old firmware version. Am thinking about taking it off line! Expecting it to get updated soon to new...

Getting my new one tomorrow...very easy switch out...power off...four torx screws, power on...will let you know but my money is on it having the same issue

Was thinking of just bailing out and getting a third party charger, although someone suggested the problem could be on the car side (seems doubtful) which defeat the point.

Same experience...36 Amps is working for me for extended periods without cutback. Expect to get my replacement unit this week but somehow doubting it will work any better at 48 Amps...will post results.

I can help with the wifi thing I think. Per the manual, the wifi only broadcasts for five mins after power on. I think it stays on if you connect to it during this time, but if you don't, then you need to turn off the power and start again to reactivate the wifi. The bigger issue about the...

Wow...you are more kind-hearted than me. This thing costs $500 bucks plus installation costs and they obviously haven't done their QC given the multitude of users reporting problems. They are stocked out and don't seem to have any idea when they will get new ones, and some users are already...

It is iindeed frustrating. My understanding is that, if (when) they send you a new one it is easy to replace yourself without an electrician (still turn the power off of course) just by removing the four screws. But i am not at all certain that the new one won’t repeat the issue.

I have version 0.8.58+ (Gen 3) which they said was automatically updated to this version just this week. As with many of you, after about an hour of proper charging at 48 amps, I get the blinking red light (three times), and the charging continues but at 24 amps. I have had it about a month...
