The registration is for Queensland so perhaps not?

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I'm not sure whether preconditioning the cabin also preconditions the battery. Maybe someone with an OBD scanner can let us know. The scheduled departure/scheduled charging setup is supposed to be location-aware, though.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

You hit the 'camera' icon from the bottom tray - the one that has the red light when sentry is on. It's possible to get there through the menus too, probably under Safety & Security.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I've had all my favourites disappear after an update too, but they definitely are stored in the cloud-synced account, because my favourites appeared in the Tesla service centre loaner vehicle. No idea how they get lost when an update goes wrong though.

    New Model 3 Performance news

I was under the impression that track mode (in the previous M3P) let you turn regen down/off already.

Tasmanian Fast / Ultra Fast chargers

They make most of their money tempting you with a mars bar and a coke in the attached shop, so EV charging looks pretty attractive to them I reckon.

Tesla owner who falsely claimed car was in autopilot before Melbourne crash pleads guilty

Getting a warrant to search your car's memory is no different to getting a warrant to search the papers in your office.

    AGL’s “Night Saver Energy Plan”

None of the distributors have competition (except for "go completely off-grid") - they're the ones that own the "poles & wires" that take power from the long-distance transmission infrastructure and distribute it to the consumers. For this reason though, they don't get to set their own prices...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

I think the ATO would take a very dim of it indeed, if it were to come to light.

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

We're still talking about driving, right?
  11. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Yes - if you have a novated lease, because the NL has to be for the full value of the car including order fee, so amount paid by the leasing company covers the order fee and you end up with your original $400 back.

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

    I remember those days.
  13. C

    Ampol AmpCharge network

You're looking at it as "do some charging while I'm here for shopping", but there's a good chance that Ampol and Stockland are thinking of it as "grab a few things from the shops while I'm here for charging". Since they're in country towns there's a good chance they'll be in places that people...

How do you listen to music?

Pretty sure the Apple Music app is written by Apple (and the Spotify one by Spotify and so on).

Gen 2 wall charger recording watts supplied

The "Charging Stats" option in the Tesla app will tell you how much charging in kWh you've done at the location you marked as "Home".

Tritium asks Qld government for up to $90m bailout

Nah. They failed because they tried to execute a massive growth strategy using cheap finance, and then widespread global inflation resulted in sharply increased interest rates so that cheap finance suddenly got expensive. I'm old enough to remember the ABB and Delta fast chargers being just as...

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

Unless it's changed, the order agreement says you get a 7-day window to pick up, so you can certainly push back if they only give you one day.
  18. C

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Sure, but that might be because they're not liquid-cooled. As an example, Tesla V3 Supercharger cables are liquid-cooled.
  19. C

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

I think it might actually be the other way around - the liquid-cooled cables can be lighter and easier to handle because they don't need to use as much copper. So probably BP just cheaped out.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

The delivery centre people might well not have a suitable car available near a power point - you'd be better off dropping by the service centre at Beard and asking if they can do it (they will also know for sure if the issue is fixed yet or not).

    OTR service station EV charging

There's also Evie Seven Hills (NSW) at the Ampol, and Evie Epping (Victoria) at the BP. Both also "quasi-service-centres" as well though.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Confirmed today that with a navigation route set and the navigation instructions audio turned up, it still doesn't announce the speed cameras. Hopefully they do add that in future.

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

That's because it's already flowed through Canberra pipes on its way to you!
  24. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

The shipments are large enough that it takes a long time to import process them, move them on the car carriers to Sydney, then actually deliver them to customers. It seems like yours is just expected to be a bit further back in that pipeline.

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

The 350kW is for 800V cars - no standard CCS2 charger can do more than 200kW with 400V cars like ours (the Tesla Superchargers can do more because they control both sides, so aren't limited by the standard). Those Evie chargers can get there, though - I've maxed out at 196kW at the Taree site...

$16,000 2014 dollars were worth a fair bit more than $16,000 2024 dollars.

If you mean the new Coles at Dickson, note that those chargers are no longer free, they're now $0.35/kWh.

    Yeah, highly recommend using PIN-to-drive.
  32. C

    Novated Leases

Yes, the allocation for things like servicing & tyres isn't a payment to them - it's your money being set aside pre-tax to pay for those thing as they arise. If you allocate too much it'll just end up being repaid to you eventually (with tax taken out, of course!).
  33. C

    Novated Leases

Who told you that? The wear on tyres isn't any less than any other car, and may be more if you're enthusiastic with the right foot. I reckon I spend more on tyres than on electricity.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I noticed today that it shows average speed zones as well, with a note in the navigation area saying "entering average speed zone" and "leaving average speed zone" (the same place that the note about preconditioning the battery appears).

Australian Model 3 Highland experiences, tips, tricks

Apart from the charging network apps, the two I use a bit are ABRP (ABetterRoutePlanner) and Plugshare.

Tesla Australia WAiting room (Perth WA)

The "your order has not even been built yet" is a load of crap, the sales droid in Australia has no way of knowing that. All they knew was that a VIN hadn't been allocated yet.

It might or it might not. Check the comments/pictures on the Plugshare entry.

They've passed the price drop on to existing order holders (just like they've done in the past) - or would your order have arrived before the price drop if you'd held on to it?
  39. C

    Australian Model 3 Waiting Room

It's confusingly written but it means you can't package it as a separate item, you have to be leasing "car with tinting" for the total cost of the car-with-tinting. You can't lease a car then have tinting paid for like a running cost. This affects the minimum residual value at the end of the...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I think it is fairly likely that the source for the speed camera locations is the same as the source for live traffic (this is presuming it shows the recent locations of mobile speed cameras).

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

The USS aren't really any more or less "physical" than the cameras. They send out a pulse of high frequency sound, listen for the pattern of echoes coming back from objects and interpret from that the position of obstacles. The cameras watch for light bouncing off objects and interpret from...
