Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

You can skip some of that car and foot traffic by using the exit on the south end, next to the freeway. It's closer to the Supercharger location.
  2. D

    Supercharger - Milpitas, CA - 20 S Abbott Ave (under construction 21 Feb 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

2+ weeks later, it looks like absolutely no progress. Empty forms are still awaiting cement. I'm still mystified where the PG&E transformer is going to go. I've been here on a Saturday afternoon, and the parking lot was packed. There may be times when it will be more practical to go to the...

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Good catch. 1700 is the street number on Tesla’s cabinet.

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

I was earlier there today and I saw the powered-up charging posts. But when I parked to charge, the Tesla person told me that they were still checking out the site and it wasn't available for charging. He said at the time that they hoped to have ready by the end of the week; apparently it all...

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Well, that’s disappointing: The charging posts are uncovered but they’re dark (unpowered). No sign of Tesla workers on site.
  6. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Another view of the powered-up charging posts with their covers (socks? hoodies?). Tesla is still on site.
  7. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Closer, but Tesla isn’t done yet. Charging posts are powered up, but covered. Weird sight.

Supercharger - Fremont, CA - Thornton Ave. (Dale Hardware, under construction Jul 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

The charging posts are in, but still no transformer. But there are construction signs covering the period April 4th to April 26th, so that looks hopeful. The signs continue across the street (Moraine St.), and go down the block to Thornton Ave. So I think there will be trenching down the street...
  9. D

    Supercharger - Milpitas, CA - 20 S Abbott Ave (under construction 21 Feb 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

Construction continues. The puzzlement for me is the raised concrete platform for the Tesla cabinets. My guess (and it's a stretch) is that this area is within a flood zone. (At the nearby Denny's Supercharger, the cabinets are at ground level but they look to be just outside the flood zone...

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Transformer! And the related vault down the street now a cabinet over it. However the charging posts are still covered or dark.
  11. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

As of Monday (March 18th), no visible progress, either on the transformer or on the apparently-related work down the street.
  12. D

Supercharger - Milpitas, CA - Dempsey Rd (under construction Feb 2024, 11 V3 stalls)

The construction fencing is gone, but construction isn't complete. There are no charging posts, and the transformer (and its supporting slab) are also missing. But all the charging slots have freshly painted lines!
  13. D

Supercharger - Bakersfield, CA - Copus Rd. (LIVE, 20 V3 stalls)

This Supercharger now has a different access. The guy there I talked with said that the change was required by CalTrans. So you need to enter and exit via the gas-station driveways, farther away from the overpass. He thought the gas pumps and the convenience store (center of the building) would...
  14. D

Supercharger - Milpitas, CA - Dempsey Rd (under construction Feb 2024, 11 V3 stalls)

Is this enough to change the status to "construction"? Sorry for the quality--those tall construction fences make picture-taking a challenge. These are pictures of the smaller construction area, nearer to Dempsey Road. I'm thinking it looks like the transformer and Tesla switchgear cabinet will...
  15. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Still no transformer. Impressive copper grounding rod in the slab. The transformer delay may be related to construction a few steps down the sidewalk (towards the freeway). I suspect they're related because the landscaping (lawn, etc.) has been removed between this new work and the transformer...
  16. D

Supercharger - Milpitas, CA - Dempsey Rd (under construction Feb 2024, 11 V3 stalls)

Perhaps not. Nothing Tesla-specific, but what else could it be? Two sections of the parking lot have been blocked off with tall construction fencing: a smaller one along Dempsey Road and a larger one in the middle of the parking lot. It appears that trenching has started within the larger...
  17. D

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

We may be waiting for a lot. The trenching runs to hole currently covered in sheets of plywood. From there towards Grant Road are lots of USA (underground service alert) spray-paint markings on the sidewalk and the street pavement, ending on the other side of Grant at two underground vaults in...
  18. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Trenching is completed and the transformer pad is installed! All ready for that big green PG&E transformer. Previously I posted "no transformer yet" pictures from next to the Tesla switchgear (in the background in this picture), inside the parking structure, expecting the transformer would be...
  19. D

Supercharger - Los Altos, CA - Loucks Ave (under construction Feb 2023)

Here's a picture from today, verifying that the transformer is still missing. And the concrete pad for the transformer is still missing.
  20. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Progress! A contractor working for PG&E is trenching and installing conduits near the Tesla switchgear.
  21. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Still no sign of a transformer that would get connected to Tesla’s switchgear. The wait continues.
  22. D

Supercharger - Fremont, CA - Civic Center Drive (LIVE 17 Oct 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

If you’re approaching on Walnut Ave., you can use the Fremont Surgery Center driveway (which also has a Civic Center Drive address), and skip past their parking lot. The access road curves to the right, and there are the chargers. That route can also be used as an easy exit to Walnut Ave.
  23. D

    Supercharger - King City, CA (LIVE 15 Sep 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

For the record, the transformer at King City, with lots of space all around it.
  24. D

Supercharger - Bakersfield, CA - Copus Rd. (LIVE, 20 V3 stalls)

The lot is paved, and illuminated at night, but no restrooms. It's only a few miles away from the Tejon Outlets, so it seems pretty useless until the truck stop and its restrooms are available. The truck-stop building is just a shell right now; in part of it the floor is still dirt. This does...
  25. D

    Supercharger - Lost Hills, CA (LIVE 22 Nov 2023, 20 V3 stalls)

No transformer or transformer pad, but progress (pix from yesterday). Long trenching, apparently to get power to the transformer location. The existing trench runs from the transformer location across the Denny's parking towards the gas station, then ~90º degrees to run along the side of the...
  26. D

Supercharger - Hollywood, CA (under construction Sep 2023, 32 stalls + diner)

The May 2022 application said, "The operational hours for the Drive-In movie theatre will be from 7am-11pm pursuant to the Commercial Corner standards." and "Outdoor movie theater will only operate between 7 am and 11 pm." So no night-time movies with your meal.
  27. D

Supercharger - Newark, CA - Newark Blvd. (under construction Aug 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Still awaiting a transformer. Indeed close to Jade Palace, though it was the slots closest to La Hacienda were ICEd. Except for the handicapped/disabled slots, none are marked at EV-charging only, so ICEing would be allowable.
  28. D

Supercharger - Fremont, CA - Civic Center Drive (LIVE 17 Oct 2023, 8 V3 stalls)

The transformer has been installed, but there are still steel plates covering trenches, and nothing is operational. The location in supercharge.info is a bit off, probably because it's based upon the street address. The actual location is behind the 39440 (not 39410) building, closest to the...
  29. D

Supercharger - Los Altos, CA - Loucks Ave (under construction Feb 2023)

This site is still waiting for PG&E to install the utility transformer. That covered hole, where the conduits and conductors will go from under the transformer to Tesla's cabinet, does not mean that transformer installation is imminent--the Lost Hills site has been that way for a year.
  30. D

Supercharger - Mountain View, CA - Grant Rd (under construction, 32 stalls)

Here's a little closer look. That conduit/channel will hold the bus bars that carry 4000 amperes from the utility transformer to Tesla's equipment. At smaller sites the conductors go underground between the transformer and Tesla cabinet. But for now, we wait for PG&E to install the transformer...
  31. D

Supercharger - Sunnyvale, CA - El Camino Real (under construction, 12 V3 stalls)

Still awaiting a utility transformer from PG&E. However the trash receptacles have been installed, on their very own concrete slab. :) There's a generous space next to the Tesla cabinets which could hold certainly one or perhaps two parking spaces, even after space is taken up by the...
  32. D

    Supercharger - Dublin, CA - Dublin Boulevard (LIVE 29 Oct 2021, 10 V2 stalls)

So Olema managed to beat this by a year and a half. Amazing. So can we be sure the last V2 location has gone online in the US?
  33. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

I learned last night that Ikea locks up this parking structure at night, so these Superchargers will not be accessible outside of store hours. Same limitation as for the Urban Superchargers under Whole Foods in Los Altos. But this Ikea is right next to the freeway (US 101), so the lack of 24x7...
  34. D

    Supercharger - Lost Hills, CA (LIVE 22 Nov 2023, 20 V3 stalls)

Still awaiting the transformer; still just a hole in the ground (picture from August 4th). Tesla continues to project (hope?) that this site will be operational this quarter. We'll see if PG&E makes that happen.
  35. D

    Supercharger - San Ardo, CA (LIVE 28 Jun 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Looks like multiple tire-stops lined up. Clean solution; I like it.
  36. D

    Supercharger - King City, CA (LIVE 15 Sep 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

It's broken now--that 'pipe' is actually a wooden survey marker. The "MGE" in the no-parking sign may be a reference to MGE Underground of Paso Robles, an infrastructure company. I'm guessing that PG&E would have no problem contracting out trenching and conduit installation while they...
  37. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

Construction fencing is down, and the pedestals/posts are covered. No sign of a utility transformer, but there's a generous space next to the white Tesla cabinets, protected by bollards. But by 4 pm on a Saturday, almost every Tesla-charging-only slot was ICEd.
  38. D

Supercharger - Fremont, CA - Thornton Ave. (Dale Hardware, under construction Jul 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

    1. Construction fencing is really is as tall as @Zorg's pictures indicate; it makes taking pictures more difficult. 2. Precast bases for (I'm guessing) charging pedestals/posts. 3. I didn't notice any official Tesla labeling, but one of the wooden templates says, "SUPER CHARGER" and "TESLA"...
  39. D

Supercharger - Tejon Ranch, CA - Outlets at Tejon Pkwy (LIVE 1 Sep 2021, 76 V3 stalls)

Sorry for the confusion: I didn't clearly distinguish between the temporary construction fencing and the old "permanent" fence being replaced by the concrete-block wall. In post #152, I took the first two pictures through gaps in the temporary construction fencing, so that fencing isn't obvious...
  40. D

    Supercharger - King City, CA (LIVE 15 Sep 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

To clarify the arrangement: 1. 8 on the left as you drive in; back in 2. 6 at the back as your drive in; nose in 3. 2 adjacent to the building; back in. These lack tire stops; they use some kind of bollards. (These bollards are also in use at the new San Ardo site.)
  41. D

    Supercharger - King City, CA (LIVE 15 Sep 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

Agreed. When I was standing in front of it taking the picture, it struck me as a very generous space for a utility transformer.
  42. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

I marvel at these parking-structure installations, with the masses of perfectly shaped and positioned conduits. I share others' concerns about traffic flow when this site is open and busy. And I think it's difficult to complete any shopping visit at Ikea within a 15- or 20-minute charge time.
  43. D

Supercharger - East Palo Alto, CA - 1700 East Bayshore Road (LIVE 9 Apr 2024, 20 V3 stalls)

If the transformer is going to be adjacent to Tesla's white cabinets, it'll be to the south, i.e., towards the freeway. Fortunately there's an empty parking spot ready for it. ;)
  44. D

Supercharger - Tejon Ranch, CA - Outlets at Tejon Pkwy (LIVE 1 Sep 2021, 76 V3 stalls)

The fence around the big Outlets sign, the Tesla white cabinets, and the transformers is being replaced by a brick wall. Not clear whether this is for aesthetics or security. These pictures are from June 28th, so the wall may be completed by now.
  45. D

Supercharger - Lebec, CA - 49771 Gorman Post Road (permit found, 63 stalls)

(These pictures are from June 28th; the situation may have changed since then.) No visible progress. Both the house in the first picture and the stone in the second picture show the "49771" street number.
  46. D

    Supercharger - King City, CA (LIVE 15 Sep 2023, 16 V3 stalls)

I’m guessing that the transformer will go in this unpaved area next to the Tesla cabinets.
  47. D

    Supercharger - San Ardo, CA (LIVE 28 Jun 2023, 12 V3 stalls)

Active as of 6 pm. Owner said I was the first to charge, although his Tesla was already plugged in when I arrived. Be warned that the dirt (soon to be gravel) area lacks stripes and tire stops.
