The charging posts are in, but still no transformer. But there are construction signs covering the period April 4th to April 26th, so that looks hopeful. The signs continue across the street (Moraine St.), and go down the block to Thornton Ave. So I think there will be trenching down the street...

Construction continues. The puzzlement for me is the raised concrete platform for the Tesla cabinets. My guess (and it's a stretch) is that this area is within a flood zone. (At the nearby Denny's Supercharger, the cabinets are at ground level but they look to be just outside the flood zone...

If you’re approaching on Walnut Ave., you can use the Fremont Surgery Center driveway (which also has a Civic Center Drive address), and skip past their parking lot. The access road curves to the right, and there are the chargers. That route can also be used as an easy exit to Walnut Ave.

This site is still waiting for PG&E to install the utility transformer. That covered hole, where the conduits and conductors will go from under the transformer to Tesla's cabinet, does not mean that transformer installation is imminent--the Lost Hills site has been that way for a year.

Here's a little closer look. That conduit/channel will hold the bus bars that carry 4000 amperes from the utility transformer to Tesla's equipment. At smaller sites the conductors go underground between the transformer and Tesla cabinet. But for now, we wait for PG&E to install the transformer...

I learned last night that Ikea locks up this parking structure at night, so these Superchargers will not be accessible outside of store hours. Same limitation as for the Urban Superchargers under Whole Foods in Los Altos. But this Ikea is right next to the freeway (US 101), so the lack of 24x7...

Sorry for the confusion: I didn't clearly distinguish between the temporary construction fencing and the old "permanent" fence being replaced by the concrete-block wall. In post #152, I took the first two pictures through gaps in the temporary construction fencing, so that fencing isn't obvious...

To clarify the arrangement: 1. 8 on the left as you drive in; back in 2. 6 at the back as your drive in; nose in 3. 2 adjacent to the building; back in. These lack tire stops; they use some kind of bollards. (These bollards are also in use at the new San Ardo site.)

Agreed. When I was standing in front of it taking the picture, it struck me as a very generous space for a utility transformer.

I marvel at these parking-structure installations, with the masses of perfectly shaped and positioned conduits. I share others' concerns about traffic flow when this site is open and busy. And I think it's difficult to complete any shopping visit at Ikea within a 15- or 20-minute charge time.

If the transformer is going to be adjacent to Tesla's white cabinets, it'll be to the south, i.e., towards the freeway. Fortunately there's an empty parking spot ready for it. ;)

The fence around the big Outlets sign, the Tesla white cabinets, and the transformers is being replaced by a brick wall. Not clear whether this is for aesthetics or security. These pictures are from June 28th, so the wall may be completed by now.

Active as of 6 pm. Owner said I was the first to charge, although his Tesla was already plugged in when I arrived. Be warned that the dirt (soon to be gravel) area lacks stripes and tire stops.
