8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

oh yeah...I have a drone I can fly very close to the panels if that helps. LMK pls. Thx.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

would appreciate any pointers on how to best approach this. Thank you!

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

understood. I think getting the diagram of how it's been connected along with metrics from each panel/optimizer is key. Thank you.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

But my panels were installed June 2020. And I never peaked at anything over 6.5kW.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

11,200 and 11,070 kw 2021 and 2022. I measured further from the panel and it was 18 degrees from the app. So it's like 18,5 degrees. Thank you!

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

I confirmed further. It's around 18 degrees, not 16. I was measuring at the edge of the roof instead of on the solar panels.

I will do that, thank you!

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Peak from last year Jul through Sep is also 6.5kW. This is the part where from the feedback from other users where they are suggesting that some of the panels may not be working...If that were the case, I assume I wouldn't have reached peak of 6.5kw in March correct? Or does malfunction come...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

The last couple of years the annual production is about the same. 2021 was slightly better than 2022. Could you elaborate? I didn't understand this.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Thank you! Here is my May 13th...I find it amazing that the peak on that day didn't even hit 6.5 when I've hit 6.5 in Mar and Apr this year.

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

I read somewhere that if the inverter gets too hot that it will limit the power. My inverter is completely under the sun (no shade) for most of the day. Should I look into that? Forum users said that if it hits 115 degrees that it would start being left efficient. But I imagine that I...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Thank you very much! If you have suggestions as to how to access the optimizer level data, that would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, I will keep looking in the forums for more information. Is there anything that you think might cause my peak from April to be the same as July while I...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Found the layout. Tesla estimate in that document was 13,500kwh. I'm 18% from that. PVWatt had estimated 13,100. Note that at the time of installation and design, there was a massive tree in my neighbor's house and so my a lot of my afternoon sun was blocked. That tree has since fallen...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Sigh...I was not very thorough at the time of signing and the design doc says estimated output at 0. I was in a rush at the time to get the discounts (which have gone way up since then...small excuse for my extreme sloppiness). Yes, I've seen a number of different user reported outputs. I'm a...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

I will research the Solaredge Power Optimizers and revert back. Would that come from requesting that from Tesla? Or climbing onto the roof? All 24 panels are facing the same orientation. They are all facing south (see picture below). When using google maps, here is what the panels look...

    Break Even Achieved!

Hi everyone, Sorry for posting on this older thread. I also have disappointing energy generation and posted here: 8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW I will work with Tesla to get diagrams. I had a question on GitHub - jasonacox/pypowerwall: Python API for Tesla Powerwall...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

I saw this post in the forum: Disappointing Power Generation, and I need help with analysis of pypowerwall output please! Would it make sense for me to try to gather similar data as that one? I'm unclear whether I need to run a powerall to run pypowerwall from GitHub - jasonacox/pypowerwall...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

    > You are not going to see peak power greater than your inverter size of 7.6kW so the answer to "is expecting 8.16kW peak energy generation realistic" is "No, its not". Understood. That's why I'm thinking of asking Tesla to replace with an inverter capable of my max although the responses...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

I climbed onto my roof. The angle is 16 degrees, so more optimal than the 20 degrees as I have a one story home. Based on that, my peaks should be: May:7.3, June:7.81, July:8.15, Aug: 7.73 . Yet my peak is always 6.5 for whole year including May-Aug. That seems to indicate that there are...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Thank you. I will confirm my brother-in-law's 4.8kW and provide exact data. I checked on PVWatts site. I should be peaking from May:7.24, June: 7.7, July: 8.07, Aug: 7.74...yet my peak all year is 6.5kW. Never higher than 6.5kW. The fact that the peak is always that across entire year also...

8.16 kW DC Solar Panels but never generating more 6.5kW

Hi, I had Tesla 8.16 kW DC Solar Panels installed in June 2020 but they never generate more 6.5kW even after cleaning the panels...Across entire year, 6.5kW is the maximum generated power which is typically around noon to 1pm. I'm trying to understand whether getting 8.16 kW is realistic. I...

PG&E Rate Schedules: "Home Charging" (EV2-A) Goes Live vs. Others

Got my Tesla solar PTO...that was nice. I'm pretty happy overall w/ Tesla. Price & work were excellent. They're a bit disorganized wrt program management (just like w/ their car sale...so I'm used to it I supposed). Took about 35 days from ordering to installation to PTO. Estimating 1 day...

PG&E Rate Schedules: "Home Charging" (EV2-A) Goes Live vs. Others

I called PG&E. E-1 is not available to solar customers. Only EV2A, ETOUC and ETOUD. The latter having the shortest peak 5-8p. Peak: 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday : Summer - $0.36476, Winter - $0.29089 Off-Peak: All other times including Holidays: Summer - $0.26980, Winter -...

Argh..I meant reimbursement is not at retail.

PG&E Rate Schedules: "Home Charging" (EV2-A) Goes Live vs. Others

So I should stay on E-1 then. Thank you! The form seemed to indicate that I have to be on TOU, not sure. I'll confirm. I think reimbursement is at retail so not worth tracking. Retail is about 1/5 the price we get charged so insignificant .

PG&E Rate Schedules: "Home Charging" (EV2-A) Goes Live vs. Others

Thank you! We did shift usage similar to what you recommended. One can change twice a year. Issue w staying on ev-2a is that I’d have to generate 2-3x between sunrise to 3p what I consume from 3-10p. That’s unlikely. I think e-1 or e-tou-d both work better as I generate more than i consume.

PG&E Rate Schedules: "Home Charging" (EV2-A) Goes Live vs. Others

New to forum and catching up as fast as I can. Can one be on E-1 with solar? I have 2 cars...Tesla X and S. Just signed up to solar. I had switched from E-1 to EV2-A 5 months ago before getting solar. I use most of my electricity from 4-10p HVAC in summer and 6-9p spa in winter. I'll...
