    Trunk Struts Weakening?

I had this in my mid-2019 model. During one of the mobile service visits I asked the ranger about it. He sprayed a special lubricant (Kluberalfa brand). The trunk lifts all the way up again without having to push it. The lubricant is expensive ($300 for a small bottle) so can’t really buy it...

what maintenance is needed or what problem to look for when reaching 4 years (50,000 miles) mileage ?

Took mine for the end of warranty inspection in Northern VA. To book the appointment in the app, I chose "something else" and the wrote "Request end of warranty inspection, including breaks, suspension, control arms and 12V battery, and anything else." Was completed in a few hours and cost $127...

Tesla now keeps all the SRECs [SREC = Solar Renewable Energy Credits]

Services like srectrade.com can do the work for you (for a fee). They aren’t cheap but they handle everything for you in terms of setting up the application to sell SRECs, actual selling, deposits, etc. It’s a “set it and forget it” kind of system to maximize your SRECs.

Have you tried WD40 and similar sprays to help lubricate?

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Would like to share my setup that seems to have eliminated the AC smell issue. I haven't had the smell return in over a year so sharing it now in case others would like to try it as well. First some background. I live in VA with humid summers. The car is always parked in the garage overnight...

    My new Juicebox 40 issue

@cali8484 and @davewill thanks for your engagement and suggestions. I do in fact have a whole house surge protector installed (Intermatic IG series), which continues to glow green even after the power event last week. I am confused whether it worked and survived, or if it wasn’t installed...

    My new Juicebox 40 issue

Just an update that the replacement unit (the 2020 generation model) also failed after about 6 months. This time there was no error code / beep -- the unit doesn't power on anymore and the LED is off. Luckily I still had about 1 month of the 3-year warranty left so EnelX support is sending me a...

Fellow Cheapskates: How's your SR (no Plus) doing?

Does anyone know how many kWhs the SR battery had on delivery? My 2019 seems to have about 43.9 kWh left so I am wondering how much degradation that represents.

    Non-OEM Cabin Air Filter Options

To reiterate, the paper filter frame is one of the potential causes. The mold may appear on the coils (pictures of such growth on other threads in the forum), and I guess other parts of the system. By installing a non-paper frame filter you reduce the chances of the bad smell but you don’t fully...

    Non-OEM Cabin Air Filter Options

I’ve had the Taptes filters for about a year now. I recently pulled them out to check and they still looked clean. The main advantage of the Taptes (or similar) is the PVC frame. Because in M3 the filters are so close to the AC coils, the OEM filters (or similar) with paper frames get soaked...

Tesla now keeps all the SRECs [SREC = Solar Renewable Energy Credits]

To confirm, yes, VA has an active SREC market and I have been receiving payments since January 2022 for my non-Tesla PV system. One tip: I got paid for 2021 production as well in that initial January sale since my system was installed in 2019 and operating in 2021.

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Using a wet paper towel or rag I also clean the air intake in the frunk. I take the cover off and really get in there wiping off all the dust, pollen and dirt. That seems to make a difference in my case.

    My new Juicebox 40 issue

Update: Received a replacement unit from Enel one week after reporting the problem. They sent a 2020 model (with one LED light) that had manufacture date only 6 weeks prior to me receiving it. The unit had a "refurbished" label but it looked new. Most importantly, the new unit charges the car...

Help confirm my understanding of SR+ charging

Facing a similar dilemma a few years ago we chose to "future proof" to a higher amp circuit. Figured eventually all EVs will accept higher current rates and it would be a time save not to have to rewire the circuit for our next car.

    My new Juicebox 40 issue

Had a similar experience to OP's. My JuiceBox Pro 40 performed without issues for the past 2.5 years (unit from 2019). It was plugged into a 14-50 outlet. Charging was set to 32A @ 239V. After completing the charge yesterday, all of a sudden I got the "3 lights flashing with a beep every...

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Wanted to share with the community how M3 saved us from a big disaster. We live in a community with a lot of tall trees. During storms they sometimes fall down on power lines, causing power outages. Back in the summer we lost power to the house during one such rainstorm. We neglected to check...

Is "Liquid Metal" a legitimate wheel manufacturer?

Thank you for the super informative discussion and pictures. Based on yours all experience, back in the summer I purchased Hakka R3s from Discount Tire with Liquid Metal wheels for my M3 winter driving. With TPMS sensors the entire package came out to just under $2,000. During the...

Tesla Solar on a "fake roof" + Powerwall Alternatives?

About 6 months I looked into different battery options (some informative Youtube videos out there). My conclusion was that Tesla’s Powerwalls were way ahead of the curve in terms of safety and app / UI. While I still haven’t pulled the trigger, at this point I am only considering the Powerwalls.

    Vinegar A/C After 1000 miles

It can get a bit moldy from being very close / touching the moisture of the evaporator coil. When you remove the filters, examine them carefully, especially the paper casing and you’ll likely notice a bit of black mold that causes the smell.

Replacing cabin air filters without using Evaporator coil cleaner spray

I think this is spot on. I had the same experience when changing my OEM filters last week. Came back home from a short trip, decided to change the filters and found them to be soaking wet. Given it was my second time changing the filters in 2 years, I opted to try one of the ones from Amazon...

[VIDEO] Model 3 Squeaking steering at low speeds

When I took mine in for the fix that others have already named, it took the Service Center about half a day to return the car to me. Make sure you share the video with them when scheduling the appointment. They told me the fix can’t be performed by Mobile Service.

Driver door high pitch squeak when opening and closing

OP here. As @EV-by-the-Sea said, this ended up being a "check strap" issue (that's the black middle "hinge" in between two main hinges of the door). I tried lubricating it first using a white lithium grease, but it didn't do anything. So I scheduled a mobile service appointment. The tech said...

Driver door high pitch squeak when opening and closing

Has anyone encountered a high pitch squeak when opening and closing their driver side door like in the attached clip? Would appreciate any advice on what to lubricate in order to eliminate this annoyance. It seems like a minor annoyance that I should be able to fix myself without having to...

Transmission loss from solar to the grid

Has anyone figured what the transmission loss is when we send electricity produced by solar to the grid (e.g., in a net metering setup)? For example, if my utility says it had received 300 kWh from me last month, how much solar was actually used? What I am trying to get at is the % lost from the...

Service BLOWS - yep, you've been telling me...

@DJKappeler I went to Tyson’s service center earlier this week for exactly the same problem. During the check-in process, when the check-in rep informed me that the wait would be about a week, I refused to l leave my car with no loaner available. So the rep offered mobile service instead...

Worst Experience Ever Trying to get Tesla Solar Installed!

@DrScottMMartin, we are in Falls Church so just down the road from you. Last year we chose AltEnergy for our solar installation. AltEnergy was recommended to us by our builder, who worked with them on previous projects. After some online research, we judged them to be highly rated by a broader...

    Fairfax county tax assessment

In Falls Church, VA in 2019 when my SR was new it was assessed at $30,770 (so lower than the $35,000 purchase price). The tax ended up being $310. Still waiting for the 2020 assessment.
