Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

UPDATE Summary of issue: Off grid test, temps in 40’s F, TEG kept frequencies high, not allowing solar to come on, or kept shutting down solar every few minutes. Tesla’s response was “batteries too cold” but that did not really explain what was happening in a way that facilitated my full...

Text message - Gateway not reporting

I got the same yesterday, but in email format. It had directions for plugging in the solar gateway. My solar gateway, the little black box, has said "no signal" for a couple of weeks.

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

The "cold" excuse seems to be their go-to. Best of luck!

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

    Hi @Ampster, This is a new install, September 2020, of both 4.08KW solar and 2 PW2. Starting the off grid test the PW SOC was 60%. This is the time and frequency readings: 10:00 disconnect from grid 10:00 65.2 10:31 63.4 10:35 62.1 10:40 61.1 10:45 60.0 10:50 59.6 10:55 59.6 11:00 59.6 11:05...

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

No resolution yet. As an update, I now have PTO, everything works fine until I disconnect from the grid. I've had a ticket open with Tesla for almost a month, they first said the batteries were too cold to receive power, but I provided screen shot of the powerwalls taking power from solar...

    62.8 Hz at 92%?????

It doesn't seem to matter very much. One time the frequency increases started at 80%. I gave up and tried another day and it went to 86%. The next day it got to 92%. Today it went to 90%.

    62.8 Hz at 92%?????

I'm seeing something sort of similar. Details: Pre-PTO, two PW2, Solaredge SE3800H (no display). This is what is happening: 1) Disconnect grid at TEG 2) Turn on inverter 3) Frequency at 59.6-59.7 4) Solar starts to be produced 5) Within seconds, frequency goes to 60.3-60.4 6) Inverter turns...

    Powerwall availability

I ordered my 2 PW and small solar layout from Tesla due to their price. Order placed 8/16, installation was 9/23. Still waiting for PTO.

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

I only got the one error, and I did not have the inverter on while connected to the grid. Do you have advice for me? If it could be related to the powerwalls, should I turn them off and back on? I’m starting to think I should just leave the inverter off until PTO and ask Tesla to help. But it...

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

This one is screenless. It does produce power when it comes up. It makes power for about 5-10 minutes then shuts down. It almost seems like it thinks 80% is full and shuts off. I have it in backup only mode. Like I said in the previous post, the error message from today is: "18x40: F-L1 Max1"...

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

Thank you so much Solarman004! I got the app up and running and I see one error: "18x40: F-L1 Max1".

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

Hm, yes, I did happen to notice that when the printer turned on the inverter turned off. The printer draws I think 1500 watts when it first comes on if I remember correctly.

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

Thanks for the replies! The batteries are at 79% according to the app. I logged into the TEG and it says 80%.

Noob question...Solar intermittently stops production every 5-10 minutes

Hi everyone, thanks in advance for reading my question. I hope my terminology is okay, I've read many of the excellent forums, but don't see one related to this issue. I have a recently installed (2 weeks ago) 4.08kw system with two powerwalls, Solaredge HD wave inverter, pre-PTO and I tried...

Using a Credit Card or Paypal to pay for Tesla Solar

When I used Plaid, I clicked the payment link on Tesla's website, a pop-up style window opened, logged into my bank, submitted the payment. That was it. Tesla website indicated "submitted" status for eight days and now it says "successful".

    Gateway and WiFi

I tried connecting the gateway (little black box) to with a cable to my router. When I connect through the TEG SSID and log into it that way, it says "no connection". My router settings indicated it is connected. Does that mean Tesla would need to activate my ability to have a wired connection...

Using a Credit Card or Paypal to pay for Tesla Solar

Just paid final invoice. Called and was told by two different agents that there is no way for them to accept credit card payments. The website uses Plaid, not PayPal.

    Powerwalls - n00b question

Tesla electrician told me yesterday a fireproof room would have to be built if I wanted mine indoors. I'm in Nassau County, Long Island. I asked about putting them in the detached unheated garage, he said don't bother. So, putting our outdoors. I guess if the temps go down to -4F they don't...

    Powerwall Location

Hi - For those in cooler areas, I'm in downstate New York, where are your powerwalls installed? I have a detached, unheated garage that sits about 40 feet from the house and 70 feet from the electric meter. We also have an unfinished basement, cement floor, not used for living space, but the...

    Powerwall indoor vs. outdoor?

Has anyone installed their powerwalls outdoors? If you went with outdoor, was it in a heated or unheated garage? What is your experience with the powerwalls working in cold temps? I'm trying to understand the best option. I have a detached, unheated garage far from the house, and the basement...
