I wish Tesla had made a clean transition to double paned windows with the 2020/2021 switch. If I had to guess, they bought enough to last them through Q3 and then used the remaining supply until they ran out. Not ideal for consumers, but smart business sense.

I called Tesla and my car’s expected arrival date to the Raleigh, NC Service Center has slipped from 10/23 to 10/24, but my overall delivery date (10/25) has not been impacted :)

You’re correct. The true rocker panels are plastic and cannot be PPF’d. However, they are relatively small. The quote I received for “rocker panel PPF” will cover the lower doors and part of the rear wheel well.

Someone on Reddit said they spoke with Tesla and they’re honoring the 7 day return policy for existing orders. That’ll be another thing we ask for in writing during delivery. No idea what would happen if you rejected at delivery and asked for a VIN reassignment.

This tells me Tesla is more concerned about the numbers it reports to investors than fixing its QC issues. This leaves a bad taste. Most car manufacturers do not offer a return window. I think Tesla had to because of its atypical purchase model and the widespread reports of QC problems. It’s...

I have my config in my signature, but I’ll list it for mobile. Red LR with Black interior. Tow hitch, geminis, FSD. Since the SAs can’t predict when Tesla will run certain configs, I think the larger message is East coast will start to see VIN assignments again in late October potentially.

Thanks for the awareness. I disagree about closing or merging though. That thread is in the main MY forum. This is such a significant safety issue that it should be present in as many forums as possible for visibility. I think it’s especially pertinent for people still pending their delivery.

A Reddit user reported a serious safety issue driving their new MY and included video evidence as proof. The car’s roof blew off while they were driving. Thankfully the car’s occupants are ok. So Tesla’s quality control is really bad. Our brand new model y’s entire roof just fell off : teslamotors

I called Tesla today concerning my August 30th order / East coast. Still no VIN, but the representative seemed to believe there may be assignment by the end of October.

Configuration and location also influence. From watching who is getting their cars, white and silver seem to be by far the most popular and therefore the easiest to get because Tesla is making more of them. You see hardly any red Model Ys.

(I think this topic may be better suited for the Interior/Exterior forum.) But wow, this looks great. If it’s as smooth and reliable as the demo suggests, then I’d definitely like one.

VIN numbers are somewhat randomized to keep people from making stock decisions prior to the end of the quarter. Ask Tesla for the car’s build date.
