    Charge port damage: How serious?

This is still happening. Just happened on my dad's '18 Model 3. I was borrowing his car because mine was in the shop for a little body work (got rear-ended). I'm pretty sure my dad had his replaced years ago, so the current design is still an issue. I noticed it this AM when I went to use my...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Great. You came back to be rude again. Please go somewhere else.

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Interesting, so they actually removed the capability? Love to see that Tesla has the ability to be agile. Would be unfortunate if you were non-Tesla and just drove there and found out the hard way though!

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Thanks for being extremely rude. Not need. Blacksburg still remains locked down to Tesla only (which has been open for over a month), however sites that are going live are immediately showing open for NACS. So its not that straight forward, thanks.

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

T The v3 stalls have to be sitting in storage somewhere. They're not on site for 6 months. Make the changes while they're still in storage rather than on site. Tesla has been in the process of retrofitting sites for a long time,

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Put the parts are most likely leaving the same factory, Buffalo. Why not make the retrofit at the factory than in the field after the site is up and running. Doesn't make sense. Not sure I buy this explanation honestly. Guess we'll see if Blacksburg opens up to non-Teslas and in what timeframe.

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Seems backwards. If they've been retrofitting all locations, why not build the stalls with the hardware already in it? Sounds like they been at this a while and I would assume the Blacksburg stalls are new. Eliminate the step.

Haha. What timing! Although nothing would have physically changed between my visit and now. Maybe one day...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Thanks, still doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Might as well add the new hardware while it's being built. Maybe if you don't have enough hardware you'd have to prioritize, but doesn't seem like they're at that point seeing how extensive the open network is right now. Oh well. Thanks.

This doesn't make sense. Lots of early v3 sites are open to all EVs through the NACS. No idea how Tesla determines which sites to allow and which ones to not allow. Could also be a bug on Tesla's side. Who knows...

    Supercharger - Richburg, SC

On my way back from CHS I drove through almost every parking lot close to the interstate and so no signs of anything. I don't think this location is happening any time soon. I was hoping to find something under construction that we just weren't aware about, but that's not the case. I was...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

I'm quite surprised by this be a Tesla only location. It's been a few days and they haven't updated the image. I also commented on their X post, not like my posts get read. But I would have imagined all new locations would be open to everyone. Interesting...

    Supercharger - Statesville, NC

Pretty limited selection compared to a grocery store. Especially if you're looking for something remotely healthy. Luckily this location has the Publix. Love the new Huntersville location in comparison. Obviously you can't get the same amenities everywhere. Still better locations than the...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Still nothing in the app for me. Oh well. I won't be using it for a while. They'll have it figured out by then.
  16. A

    Supercharger - Statesville, NC

Another one at Lowes. Weird. At least there is a Publix in the same lot. I think co-locating with a fast-casual option or grocery store is the best. Closest to mimicking a gas station where you can use the restroom and get a snack/drink.

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Ya thats what I'm doing. Nothing here.

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Thats a lot of charging. Assuming just testing. Also I wish I had a Tesla in college!

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

They did post on X, so regardless of it being finicky in the app, it is in fact open. Sorry for all the posts one right after each other!
  20. A

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Interesting note, this is NOT a location open for all NCAS users. At least the way its coded right now. I imagine that could change as that section of the website is new and this is a brand new charger. I'd kind of be surprised if this didn't flip. After seeing the map yesterday, my expectation...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Weird, I still don't see it. But its also kind of semantics at this point. Unless you're relying on it in the next day or so.

Which also makes it interesting because Christiansburg is a top 30 location thats being voted on right now. Tesla should probably have the coming soon Blacksburg location on this map...
  23. A

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Also still a little surprised that they didn't choose Christiansburg over Blacksburg for those not stopping in Blacksburg but just driving I-81. Would be a much better location for those just traveling through. Selfishly the location works great for me, but I would have had no issue stopping in...

Project manager said opening day is 02/29. We've waited so long, what's a few more days? Almost there! This will definitely make the trip for football games MUCH easier as I don't have to charge for the trip up the mountain and back down. Definitely looking forward to that! Been making the...

Awesome thanks. Yes I'm a huge have of Supercharge. Crazy to see it grow over the years. I used to be a heavy sleuther back in the day. Its almost getting to the point that keeping track of new sites is less important, which is a great thing! My last desired spot is coming online in a few weeks...

Is the voting screen the only place you can see the planned (grey) locations now? I swear Tesla moves things around too much (not that I follow too much anymore). I used to appreciate that you could click on a future location and see what quarter it was supposed to happen (although it was...

I don't know the permit process, but looks like some small updates? Surprised this isn't moving very quickly. Maybe because its a completely new build (new business too). https://webpermit.mecklenburgcountync.gov/Default.aspx?PossePresentation=Project&PosseObjectId=650779478

Ya this used to be a site I'd use on the way to the beach, now I go out of my way to skip it. Not very close to the on/off ramp. Slower speeds. Was definitely an important stop in the early days!

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Grand opening is set for 02/29. Taking advantage of the leap year! I have to assume the site will be live somewhere around that date. Looking forward to charging up during the '24 football season!

Thanks for the info. Sorry not tracking. What did you mean above? First one to clear show that it was going to be v4 posts based on the renderings? Trying to understand the significance. Ironically this location is less than a mile from a family member of mine. Although they have plenty in the...

    Supercharger - Blacksburg, VA

Yesterday I was reminded how much I'm looking forward to this location. Not that this drive is bad, but this location will change this from a two Supercharger stop to one. I'm only 170 miles away from Blacksburg but I have to stop early to charge at Mt Airy (~50%) to make sure I can get up the...

Just heard that Sheetz is supposed to open in late Q1 2024! Might not be open in time for folks to get some juice on the way to a home basketball game, but definitely looks like it'll be ready for '24 graduation season.

A little off topic and poor picture (but I wasn't going to make a trip out of it). Driving to Target today I noticed that there was 4 Electrify America chargers under construction in the BoA parking lot at 301 S King. I've never been to a EA location, and honestly don't plan on it (Tesla's...

Supercharger - Chestnut Hill, MA - 200 Boylston St

Awesome thanks for the knowledge drop. Any reason why you believe these will start with v3 pedestals instead of v4? Bit unfortunate that they need to rewire to go from v3 to v4, but obviously there is a good technical reason for it. Just too bad it's not backward compatible. Doesn't look like...

Supercharger - Chestnut Hill, MA - 200 Boylston St

"Twelve stall v3 with universal v4 upgradable bases." Can you explain that a bit more? How do you spot v4 bases? And what makes them upgradable? Wouldn't they just put in the v4 pedestals and then change the cabinets later? Definitely don't know much about v4, just trying to learn.

Wonder if this will be a v4 site. There have been two recent v4 sites found in the SE that are located at Lowes. That or by the time this is actually built, maybe they're only installing v4. V4 Sites at Lowes https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/supercharger-alabaster-al.313294/...

And is the address wrong or a bad approximation on the permit? Will this be at the Shell? Right now its closer to the apartment complex.

Supercharger - Charlotte, NC - Panara Dr

I do NOT like this spot. Tesla is forcing drivers to crawl through Concord Mills traffic to get to the location. And its 2 miles off I-85. Glad I'll never be using this location. Tesla really needs some better boots-on-the-ground intel. Wouldn't be hard.
