File a BBB complaint.
I did it, and actually got a response from [email protected]. Weird that Tesla address those, but the service centers do not even pick up the phone.
Update - after I filled the BBB complaint last Friday, Tesla actually replied on Monday and mentioned that after "further review" I actually qualify for $320 refund. Maybe it's just a coincidence :)
They also told me not to bother them any further:
"
Thank you for contacting Tesla regarding the...
No refund here. My MCU1 failed with all the eMMC symptoms, and needed to tow my car to the SC. I decided to do the MCU2 upgrade for $2500 instead of repair.
Tesla investigated themselves, decided they're not at fault:) then stop answering emails:
"Our diagnostics do not indicate any...
Same.
I needed to tow the car to the SC, and was given the option to repair MCU1 for ~1600 or upgrade for $2500. I took the upgrade, and now got the email saying I'm not eligible for any refund. Sent them an email with both(repair and upgrade) service estimates proving the MCU was damaged...
I really think the problem is HW related. There is no way
1) Tesla doens't know about this
2) There is a easy FW fix.
Since I got my MCU2 upgrade almost 6 months ago, there were >5 FW updates, all of them addressing spotify, fart mode, font size and such. Looks like they have time for that.
Email I got in November :
"

Maybe relevant to this thread - got an email from Tesla saying they may reimburse part of my MCU2 upgrade, because of MCU1 eMMC failure. (I upgraded to MCU2 because MCU1 died)
Warranty Adjustment Program
Now if they'll only fix my backup camera :)
Yes, I talked to someone form the service. Waste of time. Guy literally told me that at nighttime the camera doesn't get the same amount of light as it does during day, and that's why it's darker.
As of now I'm using the emergency light excellent tip from this thread, and wait for v11 :)
Same low light camera issue here. Updated my 2012 model S to MCU2 after MCU1 died the expected "black screen" death about 3 months ago. Immediately after the upgrade, service said Tesla FW team is aware of the issue and is on their "to-do" list. Since then I got several FW updates, none...
