Yes, this is normal. Once your SEG MPAN is active that flexible tariff will change to the SEG tariff. This caught me out too. I was concerned it was an erroneous switch to my account of another property, but hopeful it was just the SEG activation process. Give it about a week, and it'll change.

Mine is set to Auto all the time, and I've noticed the heated seat coming on in the past few days, with an ambient of only 17C. Perhaps out in California they'd consider 17C cold, but for me I'd rather it didn't come on until the ambient drops into single figures.

Or lightly undersize it. That way it'll crop a little on the super sunny days, but start producing earlier and stop producing later in the day. It will also perform slightly better in the winter months.

I always plug in as soon as I get home, unless I intend to venture out again soon afterwards. I've had additional charging slots start as early as 5.30pm giving me cheap rate for cooking etc, so there's little incentive not to plug in. It's not like it takes very long to do so.
