All new Teslas come with a NEMA 5-15 (standard 15A plug) adapter, all others have to be purchased separately. If you want to use your 240V receptacle you would need to purchase the correct adapter like the OP mentioned.

Got my VIN sometime today, it was not there first thing this morning. Ordered on the 23rd of October, says delivery date Dec 5-31st in Cinci. And that date has been moving both directions. on each end almost daily. The last 6 are 425xxx Here's hoping the car is in good shape when I pick it up.

Can you send a picture of your panel? One thing that seems off to me is that when you do a 240V circuit you want the breaker switches to physical be tied together in the box. So you can shut off the entire circuit vs. just one phase of it. It's a safety thing. Something does seem off here.
