    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Lots of things can change between now and next year. Valerii Zaluzhnyi might become President of Ukraine. He is currently polling ahead of Zelenskyy. Trump was right to harass our allies into more Defense Spending, many times to a percentage of their economy that they agreed to. Trump was...

US Market Situation and Outlook (Rob Stark's American Megathread)

The Cadillac Vistiq will be roughly the size and price of the R1S. But definitely an on road vehicle not offroad. Reaches dealers second half of 2025. Once Vistiq is demand constrained it is not difficult seeing GM making a Traverse EV. And Escalade IQ starts at $130k. $180k is the top trim...

Even if true, as Tesla engineers explained to Top Gear Netherlands the CT front won't pass European pedestrian safety standards because of the inflexibility of the SS.

I was thinking maybe GM could do a Silverado EV Weissach Package. Replace the steel hood and glass roof with aluminum or carbon fiber. Replace the 24" wheels with lightweight 18" wheels. Remove the bed liners. Remove rear bench seat. Replace front Lazy Boy front seats with racing...

The Cybertruck front fascia/hood doesn't meet European pedestrian safety standards. Tesla is not modifying the Cybertruck to pass European standards. Therefore the market in Europe is Zero. Elon said at some point they will make a smaller pickup compatible with markets outside North America.

GM calls it their 24 module "200+ kWh pack." GM has given Silverado EV RST an official 440 mile range. Kyle Connor from EV review channel Out of Spec says he pulled 215 kWh out of the pack. Probably 230 kWh gross. Ram Rev big pack might be a little bigger. They are saying 229 kWh and 500...

    The demise of the OEMs

Average new car payment is $738. Give someone a 27% discount and they will switch. 27% is not nothing. 27.5% tariffs are not the limit. The Chinese know this. They have a 40% tariff on the Model S and Model X.

Toyota did particularly well during the Covid chip shortages. They saw the chip shortage coming and stocked up. Their production was not affected for quite a while. Toyota briefly surpassed GM to be the #1 automaker in the USA.

GM does look fine to me. A bit more stock than ideal isn't the end of the world. Like Tesla, GM releases quarterly. So those are the latest numbers. ***Estimating sales on top of estimating inventory doesn't yield very accurate numbers.
