    Model Y Suspension Advice

Comparing a Lexus LS460 with a first generation Tesla M3LR makes no sense whatsoever. They are totally different classes of vehicle.

    Model Y Suspension Advice

:D See my face? 2021 MYLR, dual motor, now at 52k miles. MPP comfort coilovers, installed in 2021 at about 10k miles. 42k miles on the coilovers: no problems, no noises. Amazing improvement in ride quality, handling, etc. YMMV.

Something fell into the rear floor vent: can't get it out!

No. It's entirely HVAC related, not related to heat pump or battery cooling.
  5. P

    what is this?

My 2021 MYLR has several in each wheel well.

2024 Model Y Long Range (MYLR) Tire Options

There are dozens of threads in TMC discussing tire options. Here's one: https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/help-me-decide-on-my-next-tires-michelin-cross-climate-sport-pilot-as-continental-extremecontact-dws.321832/post-8096611

    Model Y Suspension Advice

TGuy2024: I strongly recommend you do an advanced search before you buy. Yes, it takes time, and you won't find a clearly definitive answer, but you'll learn from the several dozen members that have posted their experiences. Keep in mind that suspension needs are regionally dependent. Ribbon...

2023 Model Y rattles in the back

Uhh...a lawyer? for car rattles? Good luck with that. It's going to cost someone a lot of money...probably you!

Wind Turbulence where Windshield Meets Roof

Your photos show a car that doesn't even remotely resemble how the roof/windshield fit on my roof. It looks like a retractable roof. Are these photos of a Tesla Model Y from the factory?
  12. P

Model Y suspension popping sounds when turning into driveways.

Just Another Y: Are you certain it isn't the traction control crunching/grinding when turning sharply into a steeply inclined driveway? Mine has done this since day one, now at 52k miles.
  13. P

    Load limit exceeded

federico90: Is this the first car you've loaded up with your family and luggage? Did you ever look at load limits on any previous car you've owned? It's probable that you've "overloaded" other cars previous to this one. There's nothing unusual about Tesla load capacities.
  14. P

    Minor scuff damage on bumper

It's a plastic bumper. Any reputable shop can fix it. Does NOT require Tesla involvement. Here in the states, I would recommend a Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) shop. My opinion? Less than $150 repair.

    New 2024 Model Y Break-in period?

The info I posted is industry standard. Tire tread/carcass longevity is increased by gentle break in. Tire "release agent" is a known quantity.
  16. P

    New 2024 Model Y Break-in period?

I'm shocked none of you "experts" here mentioned the new tires on the new car?:eek::eek::eek: The "releasing agent" (which is slick) on the tire tread needs to be worn off, AFAIK, needing around 100 miles to wear off. Tires need 600-`1000 miles to fully break in.

    Steering wheel delaminating

Blucenturion: I would still push the SC to replace it "under warranty" since there have been several examples of delamination, which were replaced as "defective."

    Auto Wipers

Again, today, AUTO wipers would NOT function. Very weird.
  19. P

    Auto Wipers

Still on 2024.2.7. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I drove in a gentle mist for several miles, residential area, wipers on AUTO. Windshield completely covered in mist/droplets. Complete coverage. Wipers never engaged. Not once. Parked/left the car, ran errands...twice. Started up again. NO AUTO WIPER...

Hmm...I just checked, Advanced Search. There are a couple of dozen threads on "steering wheel peeling."

    Mileage calculations don't make sense

holmgang: I agree with you on all points. Familiarity is key to efficient use of travel time. Early on, it takes a little time to learn how to interpret the info provided by Tesla nav and ABRP.

    Mileage calculations don't make sense

Wamoosh: I'm still curious which direction you traveled from Dallas. I've done FW-Denver 3 times, FW to Sarasota, FL 3 times, twice to Frederick, MD. I've not gone due west, north or south...yet. (Just returned from 3 days at Big Bend, driving my wife's 2019 Avalon...THAT trip would be a...

2021 Model Y Suspension upgrade to the new 2023 suspension

pjohnson23: Please, please, PLEASE continue to do your research. Of COURSE the revision lettering means something, otherwise it wouldn't exist. It's impossible at this point to know WHAT it means until someone weighs in!
  24. P

21 to 24 lr. Worth it?

I agree with your comparison, but I'm NOT having the thoughts of upgrading. My 2021, with 51k miles, MPP Comfort Coilovers (adjustable) does everything I want it to do, WITHOUT any creaks/rattles. The paint is flawless, panel gaps are perfect all around.

Minor windshield divots -Tesla Service good?

Within the first week, rock chip directly in front of the driver. Otherwise, zero issues in 51 k miles, 25k of them road trips at 75-80mph. 2014 Avalon, living in the exact same environment, replaced the windshield twice in 140k miles. 2009 VW Sportwagen, 1 windshield in 110k miles. 2011...

Windshield crack out of the blue

Wow. If the crack is on the inside, I don't see how Tesla can assert it was operator error.
  29. P

Windshield crack out of the blue

How old is the car? How many miles? Where is the crack? Can you post a photo? AFAIK, this does NOT "...happen a lot..." . Occasionally, yes, but not a lot.

    Mileage calculations don't make sense

Wamoosh: What's your proposed route? If it's interstate, SCs are perfectly spaced, IMHO. I keep % between 10-70%, which means charging is the fastest possible. Less convenient than ICE range of 350-500miles, the trip WILL take longer, but walking/stretching...etc...more frequently is healthier...

Replacing Tire (Have to replace all?)

The concept is safer for the vast majority of drivers. Even with ABS, if the rear loses traction and the car starts to rotate, the average driver will continue to stomp the brakes, and the car will continue rotating. Total loss of control. If the front loses traction, with heavy braking, ABS...

    Thunk, clunk, pop, “scrape”?

To repeat: EVERY TIME I make a right 90 degree turn, into a driveway, with a slight gutter dip and a rising driveway apron, I hear a brief grind/crunch. It has done this for 51.ooo miles. I believe it's the traction control engaging, when the right rear (inside) wheel loses traction. It...

    Aftermarket Wheels And Suspension

The "standard" install drops about 1/2" all around. Make sure you understand that. I had to shave my front mudflaps to keep them from scraping on speedbumps. MPP achieves a more compliant suspension while at the same time dropping the vehicle. An experienced shop should know the installation...

Pacernow: Nope. In fact, even though the dial can go PAST 14, MPP says nothing is happening at that point. 14 is the softest.

    Another Battery Range Concern

For DFW -Panama City, keep it simple. Use the Tesla built-in navigation.
  37. P

    Another Battery Range Concern

Not at all. I've driven 3 r/t DFW to Tampa, FL, and the Superchargers are perfectly spaced...as long as you follow ABRP or, even easier, letting Tesla navigate the entire route. IIRC, the actual location of the SCs is sometimes iffy, as the last few miles prior to the SC can be a little...

flat tire Model Y- what will roadside assistance cover?

If Tesla Roadside assists you, they're not going to take your tire to Discount Tire. They will follow through with repairing or replacing your tire. They don't work for Discount Tire, right?

Homelink and 2023 Holiday Software Bug?

    Car Cover?

Car covers are a royal PITA. They're only useful when the car is meticulously clean, otherwise dirt gets imbedded in the cover and acts like sandpaper on the paint. This is ultimately worse than leaving the car exposed. HAIL: This is the ONLY time I use a car cover. I cover the horizontal...

    Lower Your Expectations, Be Happy!

It would be interesting to examine 100 random Teslas, coming off the production line, and actually COUNT how many have the well-documented "panel gap, paint, interior rattle" QC issues. I have a sharp eye for detail, and I have yet to see issues in the hundreds of Teslas I've seen on the road...

    Normal mileage for a tire?

IMHO, (sometimes not so H!) anything below 3/32" is serious risk. Wet traction is dramatically reduced, especially in a thunderstorm. For me, it's not worth the risk, especially if there are multiple people in a household that don't understand the laws of physics!
  47. P

    Aftermarket Wheels And Suspension

I've now adjusted to f:14/10, r:14/12. I've changed tires to Pirelli Scorpion A/S3, 255/50 X 19" (vs. 255/45 X 19") I've dropped tires to 36PSI, all around. You can see from all of this that I'm going totally for comfort, so my wife will be comfortable the few times she rides with me. PLUS, my...

My Experience Taking my Model Y down to 0%

Tesla battery tests include a test that draws the battery down to 0%, lingering for "x" amount of time, and then charging to 100%, again, lingering long enough to balance the cells. This is how battery capacity is determined. This isn't advisable on a frequent basis, but an occasional draw down...
