Running Narrower Winter Tires on stock MY 19” wheels

Going from Conti Viking Contact 7’s to Hakka R5 EV’s. Live and work in CO and will spend a month this winter in the Cascades. Lots of snowy driving on steep mountain roads.

Running Narrower Winter Tires on stock MY 19” wheels

Considering 245/50 R19 for winter tires on 2020 MYL. Looking at current 255/45 R19’s and don’t want to expose rims to unnecessary damage. Anyone w/ experience running narrower winters on stock wheels? Would only increase diameter 2% which is reasonable. I also have the MPP lift and...

Best winter/ snow tires in the Colorado Rocky Mountains for Tesla model Y long range performance 20 inch

Look at the Conti VikingContact 7. I couldn't find Hakka 19" last winter. Conti's rated well, overall close to or better than R3's in some regards. Have had great experience with the Hakka's and Blizzak's on other cars. Just different. Conti's wear pretty well for dedicated snows, less...

Model Y Performance - Winter Tire Options?

I've had Hakka R3's and Blizzaks on several other cars, but couldn't find Hakka's in 19" last winter, so went with the Conti VikingContact 7's and they are good. Conti's quieter and rated better in Ice and Snow, better on dry pavement, not as good in wet handling but hydroplaned less. Hakka's...

    Acceleration Boost Purchased

Well I might be an outlier, but I tried AB for a couple of days and went for the refund. First impression was it was definitely faster. Less pedal movement and I felt like the Road Runner... Second impression I was driving faster than I wanted or needed to, most of the time. So I decided...

I love driving in snow! Regen braking seemed to turn off...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Yes, the car is typically cold and 80% charged when I leave my house. I do have new snows, standard braking, and the problem is downhill only. It's better in Off-road Assist. I haven't noticed the "dots" but will look tomorrow before I drive down the hill. I...

I love driving in snow! Regen braking seemed to turn off...

Off-road assist helps going up the steep switchbacks but didn’t stop the regen from stopping on the downs. I don’t know if this is a failure or a feature of the regen. I can see how unexpectedly letting off the accelerator in a sharp corner could cause a car to lose traction from the regen...

I love driving in snow! Regen braking seemed to turn off...

I love driving in snow and live up a steep, switchbacked road that ascends 1500’ in 5 miles, with a series of steep switchbacks. First move was to buy dedicated snows. Have used Blizzaks and Hakkapelitta’s but I couldn’t find Hakka’s to fit the 19” Geminis so went with Continental Viking...
