    Understanding January Deliveries

First month or slightly more goes overseas, then they produce cars for US/Canada from east to west. Bay Area California being last with cars literally rolling off the line into customers hands until the stroke of midnight last day of the quarter.

Delivery / Service Issues (panel gaps, delivery delays / issues / Service problems etc)

After two Teslas all I can say about quality is that if this is what is considered “bad quality” I’m actually a bit peeved that other companies have better (and presumably more expensive) QA processes because it means I’ve been paying all my life for a quality level I don’t actually want/need.

Did you guys shop around before deciding on the Model 3?

I did some perfunctory shopping around but frankly it was not close. For an American there is simply no other choice for an EV, unless you can justify also owning another vehicle as well. Supercharger network is the only halfway decent network in the US. Electrify America is OK in a few regions...

kwh required to charge 1kwh at each charge level?

This is a good question and there is actually a relationship between SOC and charging efficiency. Lithium ion batteries typically have higher DCR (internal resistance) at high SOC and low SOC. It is pretty flat in the middle. Charging at low SOC will often be the most inefficient point due to...

Tesla trying to install a used battery in my 3

Does nobody bother to read anymore? The warranty is not that long. Here are the relevant bits: “The decision of whether to repair or replace a part or to use a new, reconditioned, or remanufactured part will be made by Tesla, in its sole discretion.” And: “If your Battery or Drive Unit...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I can only assume it isn’t real inventory. They’d have to be beyond incompetent to post actual new cars to inventory when there are outstanding orders in the same area to match them with.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Still no VIN on a 10/22 LR white/white/aero order in the Bay Area. Est delivery window is [current day] thru EOY.

    Swapping Cars

Probably easier/quicker to get some winter tires?

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I ordered online so don’t have any Tesla contact to ask

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Multiple cars my exact spec except without FSD listed in local inventory yet still no VIN or delivery date... this is very annoying! Why wouldn’t they just add FSD and match one to me?

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Bay Area white/white/aero ordered 10/21 with a 12/10 (today!) - 12/31 delivery window. Still no VIN or news I’ve already sold my SR+ private party because the Tesla trade-in quote was lame (managed to get 3k over their offer). So now I’m just sittin waitin wishin they would hurry up and build...

    Drama with delivery

Thin is a great point, particularly the note about the younger generation seeming to care less about customer service and being unwilling to pay a premium for it. I’m personally annoyed whenever I find out I need to call or email or visit any company about anything. Everything can and should be...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Today I got a text saying 4-6 weeks. Today also the website updated saying Nov 19 (today???) to Dec 3 (from previous estimate Nov 26 to Dec 24)... thanks Tesla for the fabulous clarity

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

California curfew is going to be bad news for us still waiting if the state tries to enforce it on Tesla. Probably kills at least one shift until lifted.... if that happens a lot of us probably won’t get cars this quarter.

    Special Order Suspension

Stealth performance would’ve been my sweet spot, with aero 18s for a bit more range. I have no desire to deal with everything that comes with the ginormous 20in wheels with expensive tires and tiny sidewalls.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

No VIN. My delivery estimate on the website is Nov 26 - Dec 24. I managed to get in touch with somebody at Tesla who said around Dec 24 was more likely than earlier. In Bay Area CA

    2021 Model 3 and differences from 2020

Charging to 100% isn’t particularly good for LFP either (it’s not as bad as it is for not LFP though). However, due to the shape of the LFP voltage curve (google NMC vs LFP voltage curve to see what I mean), it is very very hard to accurately estimate capacity & SOC unless you go to 100% on the...

    Special Order Suspension

I did not. Also what is a sales advisor? I ordered the car like 2 or 3 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything from Tesla other than the order confirmation robotext. Don’t think I seem to have any human assigned to me, or if I do it seems they can’t be bothered to reach out.

    Special Order Suspension

It doesn’t look like you can get 3P without the performance package anymore. Which is a bummer, as I totally would’ve bought it. But I’m sticking with non-P AWD as a result.

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

What did they offer you? I just sold my white ext, black int, aero wheels 2019 SR+ (with no FSD) for $36K private party. I’m getting similar car to you - LR AWD, white on white, with Aeros. And of course, I plan on buying acceleration boost!

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Still no update text or update of any kind post my 10/22 order. Also no response to a few attempts to contact Tesla. Hopefully I get it this year.... already sold my car and I’m driving a junker for the time being :(

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Did anyone else not get a text? I didn't receive, but there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to contact Tesla to ask about it.
