Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

Start video @ 4:34 for the answer. Should actually take in the whole thing as it is rather informative from beginning to end.

Model Y Performance vs Highland Long Range

There is a lot more to it then what you mention. Much quieter car, ventilated seats, auto shift beta, hands free trunk, and whatever else Tesla gives to us not applicable to what has/will become legacy models. Someone with kids will really appreciate the rear screen with bluetooth headphones and...

    Supercharger - Brockville, ON

Probably found an endangered frog near by and are tangled up in environmental issues. Something must be amiss as the site has not changed in quite some time.

Will these Teslas be replaced for free?

Give it a shot and see what they say. The issue is you have been in possession of the car for 8 days and only now you are claiming there were issues. Not much proof the car was delivered in that condition since you have had it for for over a week now. Regardless, rather small issues and most...

    Car died today

Had pretty much the same symptoms as you on our MS when it was only 60 days old. Had a lithium booster pack and even with the correct voltage, could not pop the frunk. Car ran perfectly until that point in time. HV battery was at 100% when we left the house as we planned a longer trip, got to...

Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

Wow, you can drive for 5 hours with your car charged to 100%. I want one of those. I happen to be in the hospital with my dad right now, had to come here on a moments notice and I am really glad the car was sitting at 80%. Point is, $hit happens so why no be prepared when home charging is so...

Poll: Do You Plug In Every Day (for daily driving, home charging)?

I like to keep both cars topped off to around 80% all the time so we plug in at home and I plug in at the office also. Would be a bummer if something out of the ordinary happens and you are sitting at 40% or less requiring a longer travel. Not like you can fill up the tank in 5 minutes like with...

    Daytime running lights

In that case Mercedes in comparison is a rip off. I imported a Mercedes SL ragtop from the US around 18 years ago. I am rather handy at mods so I installed a relay to turn on the fog lights when the car was started to give me full time DRL. (running fog lights or parking lights or headlights is...

    Auto Wipers

Well mine are improved because for the longest time they would not even turn on in a downpour when set to auto so I had to intervene by going manual. Now the auto mode works because when its sunny out the wipe here and there a few times a day. In rain they wipe but speeds are so far off its...

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

thats because most sites do a terrible job when it comes to fitment referance. If you buy Bosch Aerotwin part number 3397014621 they will fit even if the website you are on says they won't! Just put in 2021 as a model year and order them. Here is the site I buy them from because I am located in...

This Latest Attempt to Force FSD Upon Everyone is Hurting the FSD Cause More Than Helping

Do the cars in the US using FSD actually come to a full stop 2 times like you describe at a stop sign? In Canada the correct way it to stop before the stop sign and then proceed unless visibility is obscured and then you treat it as if it were a yield situation. Bottom line is V12.3 FSD does...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

So yesterday on my way home in a snow storm, I came across a traffic light which was dead due to power failures. It treated the traffic light just like a stop sign which is what it should have done. Was not expecting that, impressive to say the least.

Am I crazy? Model Y without home charger...

Think of it this way, how convenient is it if you needed to charge your smartphone at the local convenience store every few days or so. Sure it can be done but eventually you would question your choice.

New Martian wheels, new droning noise

Droning noise is usually the tires, are they new or new to the car? My winter tires do drone at certain speed on certain surfaces whereas the summers, not a peep.

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

Just like how everyone travelled no that long ago. Rules, regs and laws have made it mandatory in most places today including where I live therefor I have no choice but to wear it today. Don't get me wrong seat belts are a good thing and I do wear mine mostly because the fines are high and after...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I am running 12.3.3 on both the Y and the S. Been about a week now so yes we have it in Canada.
  17. Midnightsun

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Noticed that today, was sure I was going to curb rash on 2 occasions today on left hand turns, came so close to taking over but trusted FSD. In hindsight I should have jerked the wheel to correct as I was probably only a couple of inches away at best.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Odd, my car accelerates too quickly for my taste. Actually pushes you back into your seat.
  19. Midnightsun

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

That would be the latest firmware on the car not FSD. In the app click on release notes at the bottom of the page where it will show you what FSD version you are on. Assuming you have FSD that is.
  20. Midnightsun

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I have had the Y for over 3 1/2 years with FSD and can honestly say FSD never worked well at all no matter where I try except fairly simple highway driving. Every time there is an update I try going to work or Walmart or wherever and I have always needed to take over a few minutes into the ride...

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

That's simply because you are not very good at feathering the throttle. Not saying this is uncommon otherwise they would not have modes to select from. ;) Once this is mastered, you will come to a very smooth controlled stop or slow down smoothly in sport mode no matter if you are on city...

Do you normally use "CHILL" mode or "NORMAL" mode with your model Y?

Cannot see how it is a safety risk as a Tesla in chill mode is still faster than the vast majority of cars out there. I still remember the first week when we got out Y, floored it merging into traffic but came up so fast on the car in front of me I had to jerk the wheel left to avoid a...

Torquing Lug Nuts with Torque Sticks 120ftlbs or 140?

Torquing Lug Nuts with Torque Sticks 120ftlbs or 140?

Here we have mandatory dedicated winter tire laws so everyone changes wheels twice a year. Never seen any shops use a torque wrench or torque stick, they all rely on their impact guns. Although this is very questionable practice if you ask me, nobody seems to have issues. Personally I do wheel...

Munro Associates Review of 2024 Model 3

Speaking of stalks. My first encounter with shifting stalks was a Mercedes GLC AMG. Though it was so very backwards to shift to drive by pulling down, my brain said I need to go up. Obviously after a month or so it was done without even thinking and things were back to intuitive. So we get the...

    Tesla Map color is terrible

Oddly enough I got a new map yesterday. Looks very strange as the picture (google maps) was taken when there was snow on the ground so everything is white. Looks quite confusing. Here is a screen shot of where the maps converge (summer/winter)

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

Here is a picture of the Bosch wipers on the S, same model fits the Y. Except for the Bosch logo, you would be hard pressed to tell them apart from the Tesla wipers. 1/2 price of the Tesla wipers for me in Canada.

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

I just linked anything I could find in the USA. I am in Canada and have no problem getting them here. Bosch 3397014621 Summit Racing seems to have them but not available until June. Really surprised as these fit the Y, S and X. One would thingk they would order a bunch of these to keep stock on...

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

No point as temperature, sunshine, garaging, humidity, how often they are used and god knows what else will affect longevity. My 1996 Mercedes SL has it's original wiper. That being said, I change blades every year just before winter sets in on my daily drivers regardless of how they perform and...

What came first, your EV car or the L2 charger?

Bought our Y back in the summer of 2020. Wanted to install a wall connector however they were not available as everyone was buying them and putting them on eBay for 2 times the price back then. Finally was able to snag one at Tesla a couple of months later and now actually have 2 installed since...

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

I thought this was only on cars with aftermarket soft close or auto frunk kits. Had not heard of failures on non modified cars. EDIT, After a search, I fail to find a frunk failure on a stock vehicle.

    From Y to Audi e-tron: a Comparison

My sister owns a Q4, nice car to say the least. No one pedal driving not to mention one of the worst rated cars for range reduction in cold weather and tech that is light years behind Tesla keeps me away. My sister previously had a Q5, I was surprised to see the Q4 EV was slower then the ICE Q5...

New 2024 Tesla Tire Repair Kit

My emergency kit is roadside assistance. Not that I can't change a tire but todays generation, forget it. Even my wife would call me to ask what she should do. I have spare tires as in winter sets so I would drive out and change it for her then repair the tire if roadside was several hours away...

    Your M3H 'Stalkless' Driving Experience....

I belive the goal is to never have to shift at all which may happen one day as OTA updates improve on things a bit at a time. Right now it does a decent job when against a wall or something bigger. Hated stalk shifting when I first tried it on our previous Mercedes, reminded me of the 60's cars...

Tried both the $90 Tesla Caps & $18 Amazon Caps

Got my centre caps on Aliexpress for around $20 cad for 20 pieces. Still have left over since I have only used 15 of them. Never lost any and they all still look like new after several winters on salt infested roads. Cannot find the link on Ali since it was over 2 years ago.

As a stalkless model S user for over 2 years now, here is some info. The turn signal uses the cameras to cancel any signal and I must say they work as promised almost all the time. It even can tell when you are crossing several lanes and will remain on until you settle into the lane you want to...

Emergency charging from a portable generator

The generator shown does 7200W run which is 30A continuous. Only 24A continuous is required for the numbers I mentioned on an L14. No issue unless the generator outputs really dirty power.

Emergency charging from a portable generator

Assuming the generator can output a constant 24A 120v L14 = 10-12 MPH 240V L14 = 20-24 MPH In both cases, charging input must be set to 24A at the car.

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The bugs are better ride quality, quieter interior, UWB compatibility, ventilated seats, blind spot warning lights near each mirror, a frunk that closes (manually) without us worrying about denting the car and a bunch of other stuff we probably do not know about yet. I will wait, even if it...

    2024 Model S vs. Plaid

Go test drive a LR is my advice. Cannot possibly see you will feel it is underpowered, it's wicked fast and would still be my choice after over 2 years of owning one.
