Telsa confirmed this via text to me last week. After they closed out my service request, they sent me a text out of the blue stating that they showed that setting was causing significant battery drain. I texted back to clarify since I never turn on Sentry Mode, and they said it will drain...
I've been in this situation for almost two years now. It's not really a big issue in California, where Tesla superchargers are plentiful. Since the supercharger in my city is by a large shopping center, I just plan errands around the charging time. I set it to 100% and by the time I'm done with...
It's telling me in one screenshot, not two, and that 2% is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the other 18% in that screenshot, and the 1.1% over five hours of simple idling in the other screenshot.
If it was drain coming from a 3rd party app, I would expect that to be shown in the...
I've noticed some rather troublesome additional idle power drain with my M3LR. I don't own my home so no option to plug in overnight, I'm 100% tied to superchargers.
The first time after a long spell between charges, I saw ~18% battery drain over the span of 12 days. Just today I saw it use...
There is a long Reddit thread here indicating, at least on the surface, that something in a recent update is leaching power during idle. It may be the HVAC anti smell running per my ticket with Tesla.
I recommend opening a service ticket just to let them know. They seem to be brushing the idle...
Hey everyone, I'm curious if others experience this with AP. When I'm at highway speeds, I notice that AP tends to take curves wide, riding either the divider line, or the ditch. This is particularly problematic on a number of California two lane highways; in some instances when testing safely...
Sadly, the SC gave stock answers and the cold shoulder with my rollback request. They did admit they're getting lots of negative feedback about this update and that is being passed on, but I take that with a grain of salt.
Be sure to open an NHTSA complaint as well. If it's a safety issue (like playing games while driving), they'll compel an update from Tesla. In this case they should, all the changes require you to look more at the display than the road for common tasks.
I also opened a mobile service...
If you ask the SC they will probably scratch their heads and ask you to show them what's wrong. They're not good at doing things that require much creativity or go outside of their scripted fixes. You could have an independent tire shop inspect your tires for any nails or embedded debris...
After watching the whole video, the main things that I'm interested in are:
The likelihood of this particular issue occurring in another car, especially in SR+ vs. LR/P Model 3s that have the front motor (and for those who say the motor would deflect the road debris -- you're cool with your...
Mobile tech just finished my inspection. No issues. He says he's done 200+ already and not found a single issue.
One thing I should warn you on, the mobile dispatch tried to reschedule my service appointment because they didn't have the bolts in stock. This is pretty silly since A) it appears...
Which isn't ideal because of the vampire drain.
I've found success in flipping the network on my phone between wifi and LTE, or hitting airplane mode when it's stuck. But yeah, it's not always super reliable, and I suspect it's probably Tesla's data center and not the app itself.
Quick update, got the car back today. It was a pretty quick fix once the parts came in--they got them yesterday afternoon and the car was ready to pick up this morning.
So far the issue seems to be gone and the AC definitely feels like it's blowing colder than it was before. Heat is hot as...
I think I got the M3 that was built by drunken robots and a half blind QC person, to be honest. Half the car was fine for panel fitment, the other half had a ton of issues.
What's concerning is it seems like they didn't work out the kinks with the heat pump system. Between the recall for the...
It always fascinates me on any of the Telsa forums how some people are so dismissive of reported issues. My last car was a VW GTI that has zero issues for the four years I owned it. Not a single one. My M3 on the other hand has had more issues in 3000 miles of ownership and spent more time in...
You may change your mind when it sounds like your car will explode. That's how bad the latest issue is on my car. If the whole car is vibrating, that means the source is likely going to vibrate itself out of its mount or cause other mechanical issues down the road.
My 2021 is in service for this I think. It was in service last week for a burning smell from the HVAC. Whatever they did, now there is an extreme, short vibration that happens intermittently, usually after the car has been sitting for a little while. Seems to be tied to the HVAC.
I'm also on my...
So, since I've had my heat pump compressor and sensors replaced, I've had a burning smell for the first 30s-1m of it running in colder weather, usually right when I start the car for a drive. I have a Tesla Mobile appointment scheduled for tomorrow and will let you know what they find, but...
My advice - don't be afraid to refuse delivery if you see issues. Tesla won't stop the behavior of shipping cars with issues until they feel pain around it. You'll be excited and will want to drive the car, but here are things you should look out for:
1) Panel gap issues, especially on the...
So, apparently the service tech who messaged me misspoke, and there isn't any recall at all or one down the road (though that's the language he used, not TSB). He apologized profusely.
I have had all the HVAC sensors replaced as well as the compressor already :). I had the exact same issue as you, just a little later in my ownership (around 2k miles), but replacing the sensors didn't fix the issue, nor did any software updates. It's been fine since the compressor was replaced...
So, I had a service appointment for my 2021 M3LR and they messaged me back informing me of a recall. I checked the NHTSA site and Tesla's site, but there is nothing there. When I followed up they said the software automatically added me, but it looks like that recall isn't actually live yet but...
I had some paint touch up done with this kit prior to getting my blue M3 ceramic coated and PPFed in the front. One of the spots where the installer touched up has quite a bit of excess paint glob that has dried, however, and I'm wondering the best way to remove that without causing further...
Here are some photos of my recently XPEL PPFed and IGL Kenzo ceramic coated blue 21 M3LR.
Sadly, already needed rock chip touch up so there are some touch up spots, but better than primer and way better than dropping a bunch of money repainting. While the IGL is cured, my installer said...
Do it right away. I just did PPF front and rockers on my '21 M3LR and wish I would have done it right away since there was a lot of paint chip touch up that needed to happen even with <2000 miles on my hood. It looks better but you can tell where the paint touch up happened. Tesla has NOT fixed...
Cornflower blue? If so, VW did that in a recent GTI run and I agree, it looks amazing -- I love how the wheel logos and calipers were done to match, too.
+1 on the rubbish Tesla paint job (which seems to be partially dependent on how rushed they built your car -- in my case, it seems pretty rushed based on all the issues I've had so far).
The paint will chip and scratch easier than most any other car, including ultra cheap cars, you may own...
So, another update, this is NOT fixed. Just went for a 20 minute drive and the heat worked for about 10 minutes before it started blowing cold air despite being set to HI. Got home and the Climate Keeper Unavailable message is back. I'm going to drive it back to the SC tomorrow, but I am NOT...
So, update on this. Rather than waiting for an appointment two weeks out, I just drove down to the local SC (which luckily is only a few blocks away from me). They took me in right away and luckily just received the three sensors that had to be replaced that day, so I was able to pick up my car...
Believe me, I wish I wasn't, I definitely want Tesla to succeed. They just need to understand that there are good reasons every other car company has a strong Six Sigma / Lean style quality process. Sometimes fast is too fast, especially where safety is involved.
So, my car just got this issue. It seems to be fairly quick to diagnose (besides not actually feeling heat) since the climate screen will have the "Climate Keeper is unavailable..." message, and you won't be able to turn on Dog or Camp mode, etc. You also won't be able to use the remote climate...
Did this update and now I have the dreaded climate assistant error and my heat doesn't work. Not sure if it's the update itself, but be forewarned that my heat was fine before installing on my 2021 M3LR
I can chime in as I had the same issue with login on my 2021 M3LR. I had to:
1) Turn off MFA in my Google account temporarily
2) Log in to Plex with Google login (it helps to already have an account set up before hand, the web browser is garbage on the M3)
3) Open YT and it should have you...
What sort of boggles my mind is that nobody at Tesla did the math on this. A recall campaign will always cost more in raw dollars for the labor than it will to just design the part right the first time so it doesn't fail. This is why pretty much every other auto manufacturer has a strong Six...
Didn't Bjorn just do a video showing that at least in very cold weather, it's not really worth the energy savings to not run the heater? There's extra energy usage, but with the heat pump it seems that the saved energy wasn't really worth the freezing cold and didn't have a huge impact on the...
From what I've read on the various forums, it's fully weatherproof. Tesla says it's approved for indoor and outdoor install. I think the only weather related recommendation is to not leave the charger end under water or snow.
That definitely makes sense looking at the increasing battery capacity, thanks for clarifying. I learned something new today. So it sounds like that spec sheet is perhaps out of date considering the 2021 range changes?
Now if someone could wave a magic wand to get the actual rated 210.5Wh/mi in...
Just wanted to chime in my experience since I found all the charging options a little overwhelming when I first got my M3 a few weeks ago.
I was originally going to slum it like a peasant with my 240v 16A outlet (that used to be used for a wall AC), but got tired of running an extension cord...
Just wanted to chime in with my Chicago experience. Took delivery early of my 2021 M3 LR in Blue with White interior last Tuesday. Placed the order the Thursday before. This was an inventory car but apparently it was quite literally still on the train from Cali when I placed my order. It was...
Wondering if anyone has had any recent issues. I placed an order that said it had a shipping label five days ago; however, no updates on the actual tracking indicating it had been turned over to FedEx, and TesMat hasn't returned any of my correspondences asking where it was at or if it had...
