    will yoke steering be non-linear?

I've watched a few videos (shoutout to @omarsultan ) and the yoke steering seems surprisingly easy. Much better than I was expecting.

Just don't try and make me eat vegan steak 😂 Seriously, Tesla vegan leather is fantastic. Way way way better than Artico or Sensatec, and honestly almost as good as Nappa. Wish they used it on all interior surfaces...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I'll bet that Elon crapped his pants after seeing the EQS and they're scrambling to throw creature comforts into the Model S. If they spew out the car as is, it'll lose a ton of sales to the EQS.

Anyone want to try and convince me to get a MSLR over a M3P? - Only do road trips in Europe (live in Canada) - Never (and I mean never) drive more than 200km in one day here - Usually only drive 20-30km a day - Like fast cars (which is why I'm not even considering anything >4s 0-100) - Trunk...

I'm TELLING you all. Elon will be the 69th customer to take delivery of the new Model S. He will receive his car on April 20th, 2021.

This one has contrast piping and stitching, so it's a Plaid. I'll bet that LR has a round wheel and Plaid has a yoke. All the LRs we've seen have had a round wheel, while all the Plaids we've seen have had the yoke. Also, this is the first neat, sale-able yoke I've seen so far.

    Refresh S Range (est)

On Only works on the US website. All others show 663km, regardless of wheel size.

    will yoke steering be non-linear?

You don't have to use autopilot. You have to use the yoke. (Unless they offer the round wheel as an option in the Tesla Store, or if you got a round wheel aftermarket.

    2021 Refresh Model S Discussion

Yoke or steering wheel, dashboard panels missing or not, general thoughts?
  13. T

    will yoke steering be non-linear?

While the concept of the yoke is cool IMO, there's no practical way of doing it right. If they used a normal street car ratio, maneuvering on anything other than the freeway would be a nightmare. If they used a Formula 1 ratio (i.e. 90 degrees on each side), driving above 50 km/h would be...

It's not shown in the order summary anymore. If you're ordering a new MS now, you'll see the yoke in the images, but in the order summary, where features/options are listing, it is not mentioned.

All mentions of Yoke Steering have been removed from the configurator summary page. Checked for LR, Plaid, Plaid+, FSD, etc. None have any mention of it.

Questions for owners of first deliveries of refreshed Model S

What is the foot room like for rear passengers (not the space between your knees and the front seat, but the space under the seats)? Can the rear seats recline? Are the headrests on the front seats angled too far forward? (unfortunately it's not like most cars nowadays have normal, straight...

    New S: Yoke or Nope?

Regular wheel but I'd still get it if they put in the yoke. However, I'd imagine that most Model S and X owners would be repelled by the yoke (regardless of the results of this poll, because the average TMC user is more open to change than the average S/X owner), while very few if any would not...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Doubt it'll be free (think about Tesla's production strategy). They'll probably have one option come as standard and have the other on the Tesla Shop for $500-1000.

TSportLine. But at this point there's no way Tesla's not offering a round wheel.

I'll pass. The bottom of the middle spoke looks like I sawed it off in my garage. Aside from that - amazing! I'm 10000% sold if they offer the round wheel.

    Cheap and creative marketing.

    Things people write....what rubbish.

    1) Most of it is beta, what do you expect? 2) I mean... sure I guess? 3) Um, no, that's not how it works. 4) Pretty good value for money if you ask me. Try finding a 670hp ICE vehicle (hint - compare to the BMW M5 Competition). 5) You can't do software updates on most luxury cars. 6) No... just...

Model S Refresh Spotted in Ohio

    1. The steering wheel looks amazing, kind of like on the new Mercedes E/S-Class. 2. Rear headrests are adjustable - great. 3. Interior quality looks to be a bit better (not talking about frunk panel gaps). 4. Shift buttons are on the centre console and based on the arrows, it seems like...

New upgrade available - Enhanced Autopilot [same EAP as previously offered -- Europe only for now]

I wish Tesla let us purchase AP features as standalone options. It doesn't make manufacturing any harder for them. FSD and AP feature changes have to do with software, not hardware, and I struggle to see how it would hurt sales.

I think the Plaid also has contrast piping and stitching.

    About that "yoke" steering wheel

At this point I think the yoke is just part of Elon’s free marketing tactic. Sure, some people will be turned away (for now). But the yoke attracted tons of attention and when they introduce a regular steering wheel option (which I think is inevitable), Tesla will attract just as much attention...

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

Well... not exactly. The removal of a gauge cluster resulted in improved visibility and had little negative effect. It certainly didn't impact safety or ease of driving. Meanwhile, the yoke doesn't have any practical benefits, it doesn't look better than a regular wheel (imho), it makes it more...

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

One more thing. They BETTER have 360 degree bird's eye view parking. They have the cameras for it and this is literally a matter of sending 10 IT guys to work on it for 3 days. I mean come on Tesla, Toyota has it in their Rav4 (albeit in crap quality), you can do it in your flagship!

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to disable the auto gear selection and you'll be able to control the gears via a smaller touchscreen near the phone chargers (as stated upthread or in another thread).

New Model S interior - finally! (from the Q4 report)

It hasn't been introduced yet because manufacturers can't get their hands on parts yet. I imagine they'll be up for sale as soon as Tesla opens a parts catalogue for the new S/X.

    New 2021 Model S Unveiled January 27, 2021

The steering wheel in the photo is different to any other Tesla steering wheel displayed. This isn't a Y wheel and this isn't a mistake. It can't have just popped up out of the blue.

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

One of my favourite Tesla features is the driving experience. It would be an absolute shame to throw that away. The Model S and X driver profile will be MUCH less inclined to use FSD or Autopilot in general than any other Tesla clientele. I am open to change (I wouldn't be looking at Teslas if I...

New Model S interior - finally! (from the Q4 report)

Why not get it with the yoke, purchase a regular steering wheel from TSportLine (when they start making custom wheels for the new MS), and put the yoke back on when your lease is over?

Really hoping that the NHTSA disapprove of the yoke.

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

I'd tend to agree on your statement applied to 99% of Tesla innovations, but I like sliding my hands across the wheel when steering. The yoke makes that impossible given that it's not even D-shaped.
  48. T

Major 2021 Model X refresh pending [Update: Unveiled January 27, 2021]

I sure hope so. I won't use a yoke, period. TSportLine, hope you have someone monitoring this thread :)
