February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Just found out yesterday Tesla is discounting the price $3,750 for Dec deliveries, so another win and then I don't need to do delivery games by pushing back for a month. Excited to get the car tomorrw.
  2. Q

Is GAP insurance a good idea now used car prices dropping fast?

only get gap insurance if you cant afford to bridge the gap in cost between what you are borrowing and the cost of the car, it's definitely a negative return investment.

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

My delivery is now on Dec 3rd, excited to finally be getting it.
  4. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Just got VIN today after delivery window moving all over the place this past week. Delivery is 12/5 to 12/14, looks like Fremont car with 2023 model year for Minneapolis delivery

Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

Democrats aren't going to have the house after tonight and the Senate is 50/50. Green energy initiatives will definitely be on hold for two years and we will fall further behind Europe and Asia in that regard.

Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

I agree on using the iPhone as a bluetooth device and between Siri and voice controls, I really have no need for any of the features that CarPlay provides. I have that in another car and frankly i prefer my phone experience in my Tesla over my other vehicle with CarPlay. Devotion to on screen...

Model Y Not Worth the Price Now [Nov 2022]

you do know that 35% growth is amazing after years of 50% growth. High rates of geometric growth are impossible, as your base numbers get larger.
  9. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

So I have white interior, assuming that is part of what keeps delaying mine. Metallic gray with 19" wheels and 5 seats, so everything else is pretty standard.
  10. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

I got that email this weekend and just had my window changed from Oct 30-Nov 27 to Nov 23-Dec 7. Getting hints of communication that things are coming closer but its still just a big tease right now.
  11. Q

The number of used Tesla 3/Y available is staggering

Because private party sales are always higher than selling to a dealer/manufacturer, especially one that doesn't engage in resale.
  12. Q

    Range of Model Y LR

do you have a charging solution at home? If yes, just supercharge enough to get home, not "fill up"
  13. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Ugh, and now my window expands to four weeks, with Oct 30th to Nov 27th. This is the ultimate tease, especially since I got a text yesterday asking if I had a trade in, so I thought delivery was imminent. Oh well, I just want it before winter hits here in Minneapolis, so November would be fine.
  14. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Just got my first two week window this weekend, early date moved back four days from Oct 16th to Oct 20th, but late date moved up from Nov 13th to Nov 3rd. It was starting to seem like having this car on order was only an abstraction, but I guess I will soon actually own a MYLR.
  15. Q

Tesla suddenly changed loan bank and that caused increased rate 4% to 7%

If you put about 10% down, and pay off over 5 years, you should be fine and will save significant money over buying GAP insurance. It's just a bad product to buy when buying a car.
  16. Q

Tesla suddenly changed loan bank and that caused increased rate 4% to 7%

I think GAP insurance is basically a bad idea anyways. They wouldn't be selling it to you if it wasn't profitable for them. I'd only buy it if I absolutely had no ability to cover that gap myself.
  17. Q

Tesla suddenly changed loan bank and that caused increased rate 4% to 7%

not sure why one would add GAP insurance to a car that appreciates in the first two years off the lot. GAP insurance on these cars is a waste of money right now.
  18. Q

    Minnesota waiting room

I ordered in MYLR five seater in Feb and my window is mid-Oct to November. Based on October orders getting delivered now, i guess I'm hopeful 2-3 months out seems reasonable at this point.
  19. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Mine has held steady as Nov 1 to Dec 27 for over a month now. I was hoping Austin opening in April would start to pull deliveries forward, but that's just not happening.
  20. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

moved to Nov 1 to Dec 27 for me, from Dec 2022 to Mar 2023 that happened two days ago. I guess their production model is shifting fast.
  21. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Yeah, the Texas factory opening has done nothing for those of us waiting. They don't seem to be clearing out the waitlist at all
  22. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

MYLR delivery just moved to Dec 2022 to March 2023, originally delivery was supposed to be August. Feels like they aren't actually building MYLR. Order date was 2/22 for a MSM, five seat, white interior with 19" wheels. Don't want MYP right now cause i want the smoother ride. Oh well, just feels...
  23. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Ordered the MYLR in late Feb, pick up date started as Aug, and now has been Oct for two months with no change. Practicing patience, especially as the car i'm going to ditch is slowly dying.

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

And at 150K miles, there are some belts that are well overdue for replacement, cause if those go, well, bad things happen in the engine. Anyone arguing that an ICE engine requires lower maintenance than an electric motor that has a fraction of the moving parts is again, making arguments in very...
  25. Q

    Ioniq 5 vs Model Y

My insurance for our Model 3 is the same per month as our Hyundai Crossover SUV, so our insurance didn't go up at all, so its a fallacy to declare automatically that insurance would eat up your gas savings. Also, there is zero routine maintenance on the car, which if you factor in how much...

Picked up my Tesla in early December, worst car I've ever owned.

I do plenty of short drives, and like I said, I'm in Minneapolis, so you don't get colder than us. Those stats he posted are way outside anything i've ever had.
  27. Q

Picked up my Tesla in early December, worst car I've ever owned.

Not sure if the OP is still reading this, but your stats are not representative. I live in Minneapolis, and we are much colder than even Chicago and i never ran above 400 WH/mi, even when it was below zero temps. There is definitely something going on with your vehicle and if your original...

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

A s someone waiting on a 330 miles MYLR, that is a terrible deal. Plus that is the more popular model right now, no way they dump it for a low range and performance only.
  29. Q

Model Y - Gigafactory Texas Production

Austin definitely hasn't moved delivery dates forward, so i guess yesterday was a big nothing for those of us who have placed orders
  30. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

Pretty much all Feb MYLR are at least October, even with a buy up option.
  31. Q

I am so mad! Home delivery cancelled!

The price doesn't go up after you order, and while things are discussed here when they go bad, seamless pick ups like my first car aren't talked about because why mention when your car is at the SC, in great order and you sign the papers, look over the car and drive off in 10 minutes? Therefore...

Now up the minimum to 120KWH and include Tesla chargers

Thoughts after test driving Ioniq 5 from a Model 3 LR owner...

first thing, a Prius doesn't work when you are over 6', and i'll be happy with a Model 3 and a Model Y, both are pretty great road trip vehicles with plenty of charging here.
  35. Q

Thoughts after test driving Ioniq 5 from a Model 3 LR owner...

The headline is five years old.......and with that push, we have one EA station in Minnesota. I like to travel around the state, so lack of EA type service in the state makes other EVs not a good solution.
  36. Q

February 2022 Ordered and Estimated Delivery Dates

yeah, going through the same cycle here with a MYLR, White interior, MSM paint
  37. Q

    Minnesota waiting room

Giving this a bump, ordered a MYLR in midnight silver with white interior on 2/17, current delivery is August. Already own a Model 3, so excited to get a 2nd.
  38. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I’m not sure how much extra boost I need. I’ve floored it a couple of times on the LR, and it pushes you into the seat and you can feel blood rushing. See how you like it before dropping the $2k.
  39. Q

    Heated Steering Wheel

So my car has the heated steering wheel but I only see how to turn it off and on through the app. Does anyone know where it is on the tablet screen?
  40. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I'd talk with him a few times, basically the guy who helped us during the test drive. Also, we ordered on Jan 30th, and got VIN on 2/11.
  41. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Yeah, heats up when you have the climate system heating from the app. Feels great.
  42. Q

Heat pump vs Resistive on Model 3

have a 2021 model 3 in Minnesota, and the heat pump gets car to temp in less than five minutes, even during our current cold snap. Better system than our ICE cars.
  43. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

picked up car yesterday, and it's an incredibly easy process. Your phone can make the car's headlights flash, so you find it, and just three documents to sign. We did a full once over of the car, and everything is working well on it, and no panel gap issues or any damage on travel. It's a great...
  44. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

heading out to pick up my car this afternoon, ordered it on 1/30 and got the VIN in 2/11. It's white with black interior and I couldn't be more excited. The extreme cold in the upper midwest doesn't seem to have slowed things down.
  45. Q

How much snow can it handle ?

I've lived in Minnesota for the past twenty years and had FWD cars and AWD cars, neither of which ever needed snow specific tires. Will the Model 3 AWD really need them? If yes, why would it perform so much worse than a compact car like a Civic or Elantra that is a FWD?
  46. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Just bought a harddrive for dashcam and sentry mode, currently have all season floor mats (Minnesota necessity), and picking up in 48 hours and this feels like Christmas eve. It's gonna be a long two days.
  47. Q

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Got the text just now on delivery, was given three days to choose from for pick up, 2/17 through 2/19. Clearly I chose 2/17, can't wait to get behind the wheel.
  48. Q

    Something about the VIN numbers

If you type in "XX" for the last two digits, it publishes those as "55"
