Check your state laws. In some states, adding FSD as part of the initial purchase counts as part of the total sales price, which then will impact your yearly personal property taxes. If you are in such a state, adding FSD after you get the car may make more sense. As they say, your mileage may vary.

Hilarious! Based on Mark57’s comment, I checked my account. Sure enough, I got a $1,000.00 discount on my LR AWD. Now I have a first-world problem: delivery is tomorrow, and I got the cashier’s check on Friday, which is now for $1,000 more than I owe!

For a new owner (i.e., me) this still sounds confusing. I think the bottom line takeaway is scheduled departure (which has an element of preconditioning) is best used for longer commutes. But for a short commute, just heat up the cabin via mobile app a few minutes before leaving and don't worry...

Mine is scheduled for delivery on the 22d. IIRC, east coast cars are "trained" to Birmingham and then trucked. I've not heard anything yet, but would not be surprised either way.

Double-check your owner's manual because yours might be newer/older/different. What I read about Scheduled Departure is that it is programmed to stop at 600a (if possible to reach your charging limit before then) and then will heat up/cool down the interior shortly before your pre-set departure...

RE the FSD issue: Someone on YouTube made a good point. If you add before picking up your car, that might increase your MSRP for either/both sales tax (initially) or property tax (on-going) in your state. As "many people say," your mileage may vary.
