Mine behaves differently to this. It is scheduled in the car/Tesla app to charge at 23:30, so when I plug it in after work in the evening it doesn't start charging, but within 10 mins or so has an IO charge plan, and due to SOC and my target time, most nights IO starts it charging earlier than...

Does it need activating on the Podpoint App or something? My local Tesco it only charges for 15 mins unless you use the App to check-in or activate or something

Just download the Tesla app on his phone then log in with your credentials,. Our two M3s are both on my Tesla account and it works fine like that. Not sure how it would work if the MY ends up associated with a different Tesla account.

I didn't get my card in time for our trip to Scotland but in my experience over the last week or so you need to create an account and set up the direct debit thing, you can "activate" the charger to release the CCS lead using any card - I used my bank card on multiple occasions and it worked...
