Model Y Auto Pilot Nearly Unusable

Interesting... I use EAP pretty regularly without issue, but there are 2 locations where it consistently brakes without obstruction: 1) An intersection with a farm road near me, the road lines widen abruptly and there are no other traffic markers... the car emergency brakes. 2) Near my house...

    Progressive insurance Model Y

Not 100% sure about State Farm but most major carriers offer limited coverage for custom parts & equipment with a standard auto policy... At Farmer's and Progressive, the amount was $1k (towards "permanently attached" equipment like tints, ppf, spoiler, etc). With Progressive, if the cost to...

painted the geminis and whipped around the Crest until dire need of charge... my brother was in town with his fancy camera, love how it captures the depth of the red color!! Looks at least 5mph faster.

    Tinting

Top of my head gets a nice roast from that bigass heat magnet on a sunny day, I'm tall. I doubt tinting further would help the amount of heat absorbed by that panel and radiating into cabin. If you're OK with the factory look, then I don't see how adding additional tint film would help...

Tesla Model Y Rear Door Paint Damage

I installed some 3rd party mudflaps (molded type not the rally flapper) about a month after getting the car. have about 6k miles now, mostly highway speeds in SoCal. I have zero damage on the rear doors. I was initially not satisfied with how my FRONT doors protrude a bit vs the rear, but I...

Mud flap effectiveness after 1.5k miles (or lack of)

I use honda polish for everything on cars & motorbikes. Look it up, my favorite product of all time. Can use for waterless washes and detailing on paint, plastics, metals, whatever. Works great on stovetop too.

Large Dogs in Back, Seat Up?

I'm able to load a (folded) stroller in the back on its side along with my 75lb doberman. I think you'll be fine :)

Rodent - probably squirrel - damage

Yup, covered by comp for all major insurance carriers. $300 would be the cheapest rodent repair I've seen... You were lucky that those particular wires were what Master Splinter was craving! Actually Master Splinter was lucky too... though I bet a HV wire would leave him feeling nice and...

    Double-charged by Tesla?

Hey Folks... I called Wells Fargo because I couldn't log onto the website, and FYI: There's an automated message when you call saying "We are aware that some customers have duplicate payments debited from their accounts. Any potential impacts due to this issue will be addressed. To speak to a...

Picture of your Model Y - Right Now!

Nice!! I plasti-dipped the emblems on the car. Just some local masking and WD40 removes overspray easily. Recommend using a heat gun and doing many thin coats. "Dual Motor" emblem takes some steady hands.

What do you do if your Tesla is stolen?

+1... police and then insurance. When/if your vehicle is recovered, your insurance company has their own checklist of things to inspect - They will likely ask you to walk the vehicle with them, pointing out anything & everything you believe was caused by the theft... down to the smell inside...

    Double-charged by Tesla?

Wow, feel sorry for the folks going through this. If they debit you for 2 Teslas, you should get to hold 2 Teslas while they figure it out 😁. Sucks you have to be the bank while it gets sorted, good luck to all affected.

Tesla service, what a joke!! Extremely frustrated.

Good idea to call out offending centers. In my case, the SC's customer service was great, but the bodyshop they use and/or their ability to communicate the issues fell majorly short. It was the Agoura Hills, CA SC. The shop they use typically does quality work, so my guess is there's a B-Team...

Tesla service, what a joke!! Extremely frustrated.

Hey Buddy, I agree with your assumption and understand your post. You admittedly don't know if you'll have similar issues with Tesla, but you don't expect Tesla service to be any better than the prior dealership experiences you had - And that's why your post is certainly relevant enough for...

Into the Service Center with Model Y

    - You are not being unreasonable, the system sucks in its current state. - They can order parts but can't charge you unless you signed consent. - Teardown and estimate can easily be done in one day for the damage you're describing. - Yes, you should ABSOLUTELY yank your car and take it to a...

Tesla service, what a joke!! Extremely frustrated.

Seems like adding/using roadside assistance from your insurance or good ol' AAA is a hell of a lot easier than dealing with the ghost behind the app. If/when this happens to me, it'll go to a regular tire shop!

    Model Y horrible paint

Wow, pretty bad striping. Has to do with application error and/or nozzle setup. My red Model Y came with doors that didn't match on one side only. SC took it to the local body shop they work with and fixed it, but I had to escalate to a manager at the SC because at first they said.... "within...

Has anyone regretted the color the chose enough to try trading in shortly after purchasing?

Hah.. blue was my first choice, but got the red because wife. I told her we could either waste money on the color or waste money on the wheels. She's a smart cookie; She opted for the color because she knows I'll eventually paint the wheels anyway! Gratuitous photo:

New features arriving for Model Y in 2021

My LR was built first week of Feb, vin 118xxx. Old (but awesome headlamps) 128GB usb came in the glovebox Haven't charged to 100% but the default 90% shows 291 range so full should about 323 I have the nicer-looking and more spacious original center console :)

    Mud flaps & Model Y

The nut is bonded on the inside, but the bond isn't as strong as the loctite-ish gunk they put on the bolt. So the nut breaks free on the inside, and then it just spins. I was installing my rear mudflaps and this happened only on the 2nd side (obviously) - I took the other rear mudflap off and...

    Progressive insurance Model Y

Hahah Flo is getting old and needs to move on IMO!!! You'll never get a good explanation, but at least they're required to send you a rate-change notice prior to your term renewal so you can start shopping. That liability coding is standard across major carriers btw... If it's stationary in...

    Progressive insurance Model Y

All insurance companies are not equal, even if the declarations pages are. I've been in the repair & insurance industry for some time, and there are some carriers that honor the manufacturer's repair guidelines and others that completely disregard them. USAA and Progressive are two of the good...

MY with new console spotted today

I hope not.. my 2021 LR joint was built the week before the console update. But I wouldn't worry about that so much. When you want a used car, you don't expect it to be new. I still feel like people would drool over the piano black version if it were the newer one!

    Tires! A Cautionary Tale

Came with a spare & roadside kit like most ICE rides. Easier than plugging and works for a blowout too.. I have a talent for finding nails in the road though so I'm traumatized at this point lol

    Tires! A Cautionary Tale

Man I don't want to believe that! Shop can remove your emergency plug and patch it for a better repair. I'd carry a cheap plug kit, I guess the space killer would be a tire iron and a portable jack rated well enough for a heavy EV. Until then, ICE for long trips methinks.

    Y model, 2021 VIN number

I think it depends on your configuration. Seems like the Performance models are getting updated lights and consoles, not the other models. LR model with that vin should have heated steering wheel and double-pane windows. My LR vin is 118xxx, built this month and has those features but no...

What have you done with your Tesla today?

Thanks dude. I actually went the cheap/reversible route and plasti dipped 'em without removing from the car. I don't have any emblem adhesive and removing from the old stuff from the "dual motor" emblem would be a PITA. Taped some office paper around the emblems to limit overspray. Sprayed...

    MY LR, when to order?

I just bought a LR a little over a week ago. Piano black console, old headlights, heated steering wheel. You can always wait longer for the next upgrade, if it's even an upgrade? I don't see any issue with the headlamps nor a need for improvement. If the piano black center console was...

    Small accident

People get way too excited about insurance fraud. I investigate high-exposure auto losses in the LA area for a major carrier, and we have quite a lot of them. Very few claims go by without some degree of misrep, whether it's on the liability end or trying to get the entire car fixed up under...

How are quality issues with Model Y currently

Hello, new Y owner here (picked up last week 2/11). Vin is 118xxx, was built within this month. Build quality is OK, but nowhere near other luxury makes. **Disclaimer** I am in the industry and not the average consumer. Gaps are wide in general (likely to allow for more build tolerance)...
