    Snippiness 2.0

Now that you've hijacked this thread that is sadly much less likely.

    Snippiness 2.0

Except if they (and you) had read my first post, I had already read most of those threads and was asking something different and more specific. At least @jjrandorin and @AlanSubie4Life tried, you just dipped in here to add negative value. Why are you still here?

    Snippiness 2.0

Asking other Tesla owners what exactly Tesla has told them, or what info they have sent I think would be one of the key purposes of this board. Especially because this is a very common question here. You seem to have some other agenda. Notably, you offered nothing to this thread except...

    V11 autopilot updates

It's neither. I'm just describing my experience though with v11. The follow distance on the "closest" setting is something like 5 cars lengths at highway speeds. I don't recall it being this wide before.

New MYP no where near the advertised range

My personal rule of thumb is that "real world" range for Tesla is 25% below the EPA range based on typical driving habits (starts/stops, using the HVAC, driving fast on highways, etc). Add in cold weather, headwinds, or elevation gain, and your range will be even worse. I don't know anybody...

    Model Y very poor range/efficiency

I have a feeling most Tesla owners have a bit of shock once they take their first long trip in the car, especially in winter. (Unscientifically) under the conditions you described, your car should have about 200mi of range at full charge, maybe a little more. This is my judgment from a...

    Battery capacity loss question

I'm hoping somebody on this board will be able to help answer the questions I asked in my post at the top of this thread. Not blame me for not reading enough posts (I have read many here), telling me "don't worry be happy" or suggesting I sell my car. Whole both you and @AlanSubie4Life took a...

    Battery capacity loss question

Well, no. I am using both TeslaFi and Recurrent independently. Tesla support won't tell me how much the capacity has dropped, which is odd in and of itself. This discussion is quickly trending in a typical direction for those who reflexively apologize for Tesla: - you didn't do your research...

    Battery capacity loss question

Feels like the company should be upfront about the fact in marketing materials that it is completely normal for that range advertised in huge numbers on the website to be 10% less within 12 months, or 15% less in three years. We pay a lot of money for these vehicles and should expect a higher...

    Battery capacity loss question

@jjrandorin @AlanSubie4Life Your responses are kind of along the lines of "it is what it is"...which I can accept. But doesn't the whole situation here seem strange to you? - Tesla won't provide me specific data on my car's battery capacity. I need to use a third party app (whose accuracy is...

    V11 autopilot updates

It shouldn't really, and it did not before v11. But I have noticed if I am on an interstate with for example, a car ahead of me driving 70-75mph once I engage autopilot my car will decelerate rapidly to say the 55mph range and then hold at 60-65mph. I know that doesn't make intuitive sense, but...

    V11 autopilot updates

After installing v11, I noticed some significant changes to the autopilot on my 2021 MY. 1. The alarm to keep hands on the wheel now goes off almost instantly. Before I think it was something like 20 seconds but now it appears to vary. Sometimes as short as 1-2 seconds. 2. The "please apply...

    Battery capacity loss question

@jjrandorin This is why I specifically posed the question as to what TESLA has said with regards to this issue. That 3-5% number (with 1-2% thereafter) is a direct quote from my service technician from last month. It also lines up with what has been widely posted on this forum. I don't recall...

    Battery capacity loss question

I have a 2021 MY delivered Dec 2020 with about 23K miles on it. I would note that because I live in a city, the car has been charged almost exclusively at Tesla Superchargers. I know there are many threads on "expected" and "normal" capacity loss (even though Tesla does not mention this unless...

    Still hate v11

The Stockholm Syndrome of Tesla users paying for a third party product to bring their vehicle to a normal safe operable standard continues.

    Still hate v11

For me whether v11 is "good" or "bad" (it's bad IMO) is besides the point. It's incredibly unsafe to shift around a vehicle's controls and UI at a whim. Imagine if every 6-12 months BMW suddenly moved all the buttons and speedometers to different places on the dashboard. It kind of goes...

    Model Y LR Range Reduced?

[2021 MY owner with 21K miles and ~5% battery capacity loss after 14 months of ownership] I have a bit of a different take on this topic. Sure, 5-10% capacity loss in the first year is "normal" if you have read the dozens of threads on these forums, of if you talk to Tesla once this issue crops...

    PPF recommendations in NY/NJ/CT area

Looking for a reputable shop/detailer for this work in the tristate area (including North NJ, westchester, LI, and southern CT). Ideally will be able to do the paint prep work and not use a precut wrap. Every detailing shop will say they can wrap a Tesla but hard to see which of them actually...

What’s an educated guess on when Model Y will receive 400+ mi range capability?

This is just my personal opinion, but I think once electric vehicles consistently show about 350mi of real-world range (so, ~480mi of "EPA"), that will be the final nail in the coffin for ICE vehicles. At that point, range anxiety only becomes an issue in a very small amount of scenarios, with...

    Model Y full charge range

Tesla service said that there should be 8-9% battery degradation after only 5k miles driven? Just want to confirm that is what they said....because that sounds atrocious. I have about 15k miles on my MY LR AWD and at full charge range is 316mi.

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

Every situation is different. I am mostly using public transport as I live in a city and primary use for my car is for weekend getaways to ski/or or to visit inlaws about 200mi away. I'm not claiming my driving situation is more "typical" than yours (or vice versa), but I think it is a fact...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

That's correct. ABRP optimizes for this. However, its estimated charging times are not accurate as they assume a charger operates at its rated power, which I found to be rare (and even more rare if more than one car is charging at once). I found quite a few 150kw chargers that struggled to...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

Not sure if you misspoke but I think it's impossible to make your trip "faster" when needing to charge. On my trip, rule of thumb using ABRP (which optimizes for charging curve) was that about 1 hour of charge time added for every 350 miles driven. This didn't I include time to detour to the SC...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

My personal opinion is that it would be a boon to Tesla's brand to educate propsective owners and provide this info on the vehicle order pages. Even after years of education on how range can vary (and how EPA EV estimates are quite generous) it still is an ongoing point of confusion for many...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

I strongly disagree that "real life" for most drivers is cruising around the Bay Area/silicon valley, but we can leave it at that. In my view, range is most critical when on a roadtrip, when there are likely to be 100+ mile stretches on open road and higher speeds. If your EV's primary use is...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

If I slice up my trip, I actually got closest to the rated efficiency of 250wh/mi in the Bay Area and LA. I chalk that up to temperate weather, relatively flat terrain (or at least uphill stretches that are balanced out by downhills) and the fact that most of my drives were relatively short so...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

Exactly. Range is one of the key buying points with EVs, not really with ICE vehicles. We can't fault the EPA methodology but EV companies should advertise "real world" range to avoid the confusion of new drivers. If Tesla simply advertised that the MY LR has "240mi of typical range" there would...

Range/Efficiency Report from 10,000+ mile US roadtrip

I own a 2021 Model Y LR (delivered 12/20) and had logged about 1,800 miles before embarking on a roadtrip in early Feb that covered about 30 US states and pretty much every type of terrain that can be experienced in the continental US - dirt roads, interstates, canyons, steep uphill climbs (and...
